This is not normal....a 140kg 200cm man pouncing about like this. Despite his size, His power to weight ratio is terrifying. Never seen the likes of this.
+Z4N30 No. Gunthor has a standing long jump of between 3.8-3.9 metres depending on training day. If you can recall, recently an NFL rookie, during his selection trial, broke the standing long jump world record. He was a skinny little guy and jumped 3.75metres. Gunthor didn't care about any long jump world record as he annihilated daily without knowing.
+ml12 Countless shot putters can exceed that mark. It's one of their training markers. Just google search it. They are purely explosive athletes. A competitive throw/put lasts just a second or less of pure explosiveness.
+ml12 It's all for real. That's why this guy is one of the most powerful athletes of all time. IMO He's up there with Pisarenko and Keralin. Have you seen Gunthor power cleaning reps at a quarter of a tonne over and over and over - quietly flicking it into the air like its nothing? It's all here on UA-cam.
keithmckeith Werner Gunther was a phenomenal if not one of the best gliders (other than Ulf Timmerman and Michael Carters) the glide technique requires a lot of force, speed, power, timing, and explosiveness it is crazy it’s also one of the hardest techniques to do with a 7kg shot in he had a monster delivery leg, monster speed, power and strength. In conclusion Werner Gunther was an absolute beast.
Wow.....this guy would have re-defined the Defensive End position in the NFL had he played back then....of course, he would have had to have grown up in the USA for that to happen....fantastic looking powerful quick explosive athlete!
@jimma75 Not exactly the scientific reasoning put down by sports scientists (especially since strength exercises rely almost totally on fast twitch muscle fibers), but what's important to the trainee is what is effective and what it brings gains in, not how or why, so hat's off regardless.
My Olympic Weightlifting coach, Marius Hardiman, showed me this clip on his phone tonight. I now have a shot put coach, i am pleased to say, her name is Jacqui Cherry. We practice Olympic lifting at Oxford Powersports, a way cool place to train!!! Come and visit if you would like to try weightlifting. You are most welcome!!!
@jimma75 whilst accurate in naming the concept is not right. Using the heavier weight recruits more fast twitch which you are then able to recruit after. Manipulation of the autogenic reflex is the key.
So if the training was wrong , which I argue not, as a triple body weight squatter 615 @ 205 who used the similar methodology. Why is he still so good. I don't think it's wrong for power speed sport development. Many scientist assume or sports science applications argue against strength /plyometric sequence, not sure why

+keithmckeith Anyone this size can achieve abilities like this with the proper training.

He was 6'7 290lbs back then ( to put his explosivness into perspective )

NFL evolved greatly and learned a lot from visits of Swedish throwers in the 80's. Watch: BFS BEYOND MAM'S UPPER LIMITS

Hes an Athelete machine!!!
@HelloMarco I have experienced similar affects also :(
120 kgs on the barre ...
What's ravishing rick rude doing
hhhhhkPETER Showin' these sweathogs what a REAL man looks like.
but isn't it that now you must traing plyometrics followed by strenght training?? and not the other way around?
120 kgs on the barre !
2m00 130kg jumps like a cat damn!
Joey Gladstone?
haha what a beast
@HelloMarco That shit happened to me too.
Not sure that`s how it works. It`s about priming or "turning-on" the fast twich fibers and then use them in the plyo exercise.
Um... how?
