"I think she's a romantic." A lady literally sets herself on fire to eradicate evil in this world for the sake of her fallen lover? Yep, romantic shit, that is.
@@Youssef_EL-Nabarawi (ah spoilers- please be careful. I also may have gotten a few details wrong) . I guess it's still quite lonely seeing as she never loved again. And her lover did die
I love how Signora's battle theme is telling her story. Her sadness and loneliness in the first phase, her sadness starting to turn into anger in the transformation phase, then her burning rage with underlying sorrow in the last phase. It feels even more emotional if you actually know her lore. It's definitely my favorite from Hoyo-mix.
Yess, I didn’t understand too much about from her till I watched her lore video. This is by far my favorite track in the OST to date, trumping the original :) (the original was Venti’s theme)
The lyrics also give you the lore you need to understand her pain ua-cam.com/video/-e4Ctyi5ptc/v-deo.html < this video has the translation for the lyrics
@@septianrico4141 well, tbf she's not, if you actually read the game, she just works for snezhnaya. But it is a fact her "icy" powers are not her own, but were given to her by snezhnaya. So that connection is pretty fair, imo
That's caused because of how well the music is written. A good track tells something The same thing can be said for the character design. For some characters you can assume their personality just by seeing them
@@rarewaifu the entire point is that the once innocent and loved girl became a... well for the lack of better words, bitch. Rosalyn was made to be liked while Signora was made to be hated. La Signora was never supposed to be a character the player should take a liking to, she was supposed to be that arrogant and ruthless bitch that the player wants dead no matter what. Because honestly if we don't read her lore as Rosalyn and only go by the story, La Signora doesn't have a single trait that's likable (except her looks for some people). And in that regard, I think Mihoyo did fantastically. Because despite me really liking Rosalyn's backstory, I heavily dislike SIgnora. Rosalyn has died 500 years ago, Signora as a character is but a rotten shell of what she used to be.
@@ledoi5961 I’m not saying she should be likable lol, I love bad characters but everything u mentioned for the most part is her lore I’m referring to her CHARACTER in story like when she took the gnosis from venti, made a deal with zhongli and went to inazuma with her only memorable moment is when she got one tapped by Ei Great lore however so underutilized and underwhelming, mihoyo needs to show don’t tell more is what I’m saying
Holy crap, the way he completely deconstructed Signora's ENTIRE character just from her theme. That's how you know a character's theme song is well done. And props to this guy for picking up on every little subtle detail they used to weave her song. Signora's true identity reveal through the fight was absolutely amazing, when you find out who she really is, who she lost, how it changed her... so much of the song makes sense.
Tbh if you only play the game and never read or watch any theories about her (pale flame & cw set, truth behind her name), you wont get it cuz the game barely explains it
@@Arunika1Thats why its so satisfying Like reading something and think "why is it so familiar" And then you know the truth And its like it perfectly fits into the rest of the story
La Signora is not from snezhnaya originally...she's from mondstadt. So the presence of piano and resemblence to dvalin theme is not pure coincidence! its all to do with her connection with her native place :D Mihoyo knows how to connect characters with their origins, personality, etc which always nails their themes.
@@itsacharcoalice So basically, her story was that she was from mondstat and had a mondstatian lover. A war broke out where mondstat and its people were massacred with barbatos nowhere to be seen, one of the people who died was Signoras lover. In her grief she swore to never trust the anemo god again and the snezhnayan ruler granted her the power to supress her feelings and make her stronger. This to my knowledge is the Signora we see now.
I can sum up Alex’s experience with Genshin boss music. Alex during phase 1: It’s good but it can’t compare to the last song. Alex during transition: Right? Alex during phase 2: AHHHHHH
@@genshinsage It might be a mix of the Harbinger theme and Inazuma style theme, they sound so different that I can't imagine how Hoyo-mix gonna achieve that, but when they do I'm sure it will blow my mind again.
why does nobody talk about how his bass solos on top of these genshin ost just sound sooooo good every time??? i’m vibing so much each time and keep replaying them 😭😭😭
As a guitarist I can tell you right now those arpeggios are NOT easy by any means. They're very fast runs and require incredibly precise articulation cause EVERY single note is picked. No legato, no hammer-ons or pull-offs. It's all individually picked notes. It's beautiful.
Their difficulty doesn't come from the speed (a lot of guitarists can play much, much faster), it comes from the unconventional fingering because they are violin arpeggios. Because guitar strings are tuned in reverse order of that of the violin, any time you transcribe violin arpeggios for guitar, you're gonna have a hard time. Try some Paganini.
Legato's much harder for a lot of people. So the fact that it's picked isn't the hard part since it doesn't take that much to play fast, its the fact that, as @ErebosGR says here, that it's arpeggios composed for a string ensemble. Those kinds of compositions are unconventional for guitar. That's why it's hard. It also may just be me, but I feel like this would be harder performed by legato rather than alternate picking.
There are some motifs that are shared between La Signora’s theme and Childe’s. For example they share that main riff that the choir sings when the rest of the orchestra cuts out. I think it’s meant to be the overall theme of “the harbingers” as a whole.
@@AlexMoukalaMusic yeah, the part at 8:50-9:00 and 18:29-18:35 is shared with Childes theme in the third phase. Seeing as how we’ve had 2 harbinger themes now, I think it’s likely that that little riff will show up in all harbinger tracks in some form.
@@spiderdude2099 I suppose once we get to fight the toughest Harbinger, this leitmotif will reveal his ultimate form, which will blow our freaking minds like the Avengers Endgame score did.
@@AlexMoukalaMusic yeah I sure hope so. They disguise the riff by changing the instrumentation. In childe’s theme, it’s played with this kickass distorted electric guitar. In signora’s is an ominous choir and organ.
The difference in instrumentation also has story implications. When Childe became a fatui harbinger, he did it to further his strength and test his abilities. He enjoys being a harbinger as it allows him to fight strong opponents. Whereas signora became a harbinger after the only man she ever loved died in service to the knights. The number 1 fatui harbinger himself, Pierro, came to her literally moments before she was about to commit suicide, and offered her power and a way to fill the overwhelming sadness and loneliness in her heart. At that moment the woman known as Rosalyn Kruzchka Lohefalter ceased to exist and Signora was born. For childe, the electric guitar version of “the harbinger riff” is loud, badass and grandiose, for signora, it’s played like a funeral dirge. Amazing storytelling through music here.
@@aro_ger_ It is a talent if you haven't dealt with the boss before and only heard the music, then you just instinctually follow the patterns as the music finally plays in game during the fight
@@celestlemirage2304considering how the fatui can replicate adepti power (the sigils of permission) and also how the adepti can revive people (Qiqi’s backstory), she could be revived.

@@exceptionallyriso I mean, that's not really that uncommon these days. FFS, the longest running number 1 hit in the united states was a gay black cowboy sing-rapping about horses over an industrial rock sample. Genres mixing together is essentially normal now..... but Genshin is different because hoyomix mixes several genres in a single track while keeping and even emphasizing what makes these genres good in the first place and in a way that feels totally natural to the song in question. I mean in this song alone we got classical orchestra, rock, breakbeat, EDM, and maybe even some light trap influence at the beginning.
I read somewhere that Yu Peng Chen confirmed that the lyrics in the background is actually Signora's story, which is quite sad and tragic, just like the sound of this music
The Fatui Harbringer's names are supposed to be direct references to Italian "commedia dell'arte", it's one of the masked types of theatre dramas (which totally makes sense in case of the Harbringer, both literally and figuratively). The idea to make "russian" characters have "italian" roots may seem quite unusual, but it's certainly worth read up more about this cause then all those references and subliminal messages when it comes to creating those characters make a LOT of sense.
@@Xhandel Makes sense why she hates venti, she thinks he failed to protect mondstadt, but she doesn't know that he was fighting against durin. Signora may or may not have slabbed and kicked venti for personal reasons...
i agree with the part of opera soloist. i literally got my tears down when it started. it went from aggressive to melancholic suddenly. it’s so smooth and gooooooooddd and i was like wtf yu peng chen? how could he put that dynamic on this composition? not to mention the soloist is so expressive it just fits with signora’s appearance.
Opera soloist sounds like Yuri Kasahara, she's a very seasoned opera vocalist she sang songs from Mai Hime, Noir, Kara no Kyoukai and Fate (by Yuki Kajiura)
As a gamer, I have always believed that music is one of the most important components of video games. For a very long time, video game music was (and still is) despised. But thanks to people like you, people are starting to understand that it is a perfect medium for musical art. Thanks for that. Thank you for your passion to talk about it. It's a real pleasure to listen to you and understand a little better why I love this musics so much. ps: I can't wait for Zero
For me, music is the most important part in games. All of my favorite games have a fantastic soundtrack. Not just battle themes, but atmospheric ones as well.
Music sets the rhythm for both the storytelling and the combat. It allows new generation of people who grew up with games to love classical music and other genres. It made me cry when I went to an orchestra of video game soundtracks. Thats the power of music.
5:52 "oh, signora... i think she's a romantic." indeed she was, and so the loss of love drove her to madness. its amazing how u could interpret that through melodies alone 👏🏻 music's language is truly profound.
@@shironeko468 her story is actually pretty much a definition of "hidden in details" - in her case, her story is hidden in various items in the game, which never outright confirmed signora as the one described in them, only once we fight her we were able to make full connection

For anyone not entirely familiar with La Signora and want more crumbs of her story, it is depicted in the Crimson Witch of Flames set and Culminates in the Pale Flame set (flower). Signora’s Boss themes are my currently my favorites of the game. I am a sucker for majestic, lonely, type music and then when that creepy witch like Halloween vibes come in, bam! I listen to it especially when I’m drawing comics. The first phase, I love listening to because I used to do ballet. I still do it once in awhile but this song especially is super fun to dance to.

2:25 On the topic of Signora's (Rosalyne's) Nationality, it is very complex and confusing at first. Basically, she's a German (Mondstadt) woman working in a Russian Army (Snezhnaya) with an Italian title, and the battle between the protagonist and her takes place in Japan (Inazuma). All of the Fatui Harbingers have their titles based on the stock characters in *"commedia dell'arte"*. For eg) Rosalyne is titled Signora, Ajax/Childe is titled Tartaglia, Balladeer is titled Scaramouche.
Sidenote, but Childe and Balladeer are still titles, while Ajax and Rosalyne are names. It's unknown about Balladeer's names. Signora is also "The Crimson Witch"
@@TheJuicyTangerine, Lord _Kunikuzushi,_ if I can recall correctly is Scaramouche aka the Balladeer's true name. "Country Destroyer" is its translation.
you nail it alex - The 1st phase of the fight is all about ice - The 2nd phase she trap herself in ice - The 3rd phase is all about fire. not to mention, signora lore is quite sad. she lost her lover once and rage with anger. but she try to get revenge by working with the villain.
I like how Signora's theme carries over some of the same elements as Childe's. There's a unity in the Harbinger music and I am interested to see if that continues with the other ones (there are strains in Scaramouche's theme, I think). I like that the language in Signora and Childe's songs is Latin, but in Azhdaha's the language is Chinese (I do not know what the language in Andrius's song is, but I think it's also Latin). It reflects the musical influences.
Considering how thorough the composer is in his storytelling so far, I wouldn't be surprised if we can look over all the Genshin Soundtrack once it's fully released and find the entire story is told across the music alone! I'm looking forward to it!!
I was looking for this comment lol. Yea i just realized both of them have harbinger music in their themes, i also wondering about scaramouche's theme too. Must be epic to hear. But usually when fighting i didint listen much cuz running around evading attacks 🤣🤣🤣
What I love is how even Alex feels like it's not OK to interrupt the music at 15:15, even though he's the one making the video. When you listen to such good music, all you can really do is listen. What's really scary is how accurately he analyzed the music to the character. La Signora WAS a romantic. The intensity from inside compared to the veil of ice matches her boss fight. The heartbeat matches another certain character relevant to her past. The call and response most likely refers to that same character. 14:58 is probably my favorite part. That buildup hits me every time with a lot of emotions. And then they hit you with that climax.
@@UpliftedBrother currently we've got these from crimson witch artifacts, pale flame artifact (i forgot which one), and many other else. you could find a collection of those in genshin impact wiki which also cites the source of those lore
I was thought about when Alex gonna react to Signora’s theme a few mins ago and then boom ! UA-cam showed it to me. great reaction, great analysis and lovely enthusiasm. you made my day ! Thanks you so much Alex !! You mentioned romantic, aggressive rage and loneliness. which is on point about Signora’s character. her rage against gods, her loneliness, sadness and romantic feeling toward her dying lover. it’s amazing how music can tell us the story even without presenting the story in front of us. yet some people says “wow, you listen to game music that doesn’t even have lyrics ? what a loser” yeah, maybe they are the loser one who couldn’t even understand what makes music great.
Alex: "They can't keep getting away with this." They did and they very likely will again this year when best gaming OSTs of the year are deliberated. Genshin Impact last year got completely overlooked, which is imo a big injustice for such an amazing OST.

I have watched this video about 6 times now. There are two reasons as to why. First, it is fun seeing a pro appreciating the work of another pro, and second, I am into music composition.
It’s crazy how he summarized Signora’s first half of the fight where she’s Cryo and then the second part where she’s Pyro and super scary and you’re scared of dying! Amazing love these reactions! 👏🏽👏🏽
I've been looping Signora's theme for days because it makes me feel... just... so much. This is the first video I've watched of yours and I love your sheer enthusiasm!! It makes me really happy watching you vibe and sing praise to this track. I don't know much about music so a lot of the things you've pointed out have made me appreciate the theme even more! Keep up the good work :)
I used to feel so shameful and out of place for loving video game OST. Thank you for making me feel at home and comfortable about who I am when I watch these videos
Same here! In my real life friend's circle, unyil last year I was the only one who listened to video game music. This channel helps me realise why I like such music and also help us understand more than usual!
You shouldn't have felt that in the first place... Everyone has a right to enjoy and have opinions of their own... You don't need anyone's approval for it... I have never given a fk if my family members/relatives/friends criticize me for liking stuff like deathstep, video game music, anime music and stuff like manga/manhwa/manhua in general
First of all, no need to be shameful to like something (except unlawful things). If your friends ridicule you for it just ignore it, you're the one listening not them
"They can't keep getting away with this!" As a Mihoyo fan for roughly 3+ years, let me just say: They totally can and do keep getting away with this. They release banger after banger with Genshin, but also some of their other game's OST (Honkai Impact 3rd) is pretty good too, if only not as long. If you have the time, I'd recommend listening to the songs "Htaed" and "Oracle" just to name some great songs that aren't blatant spoilers. And if you're sticking to Genshin stuff for now, might I also recommend "Caelestinum Finale Termini", "Dance with the Great Vortex", "A Letter to Snezhnaya", or any of the Inazuma battle themes as some songs to analyze. Anyways, the video is really well done. You managed to get a lot of Signora down, and certainly rocking out to the second part is something I can vibe with. You got yourself a new sub!
signora was a character who was hyped from the start of the game. after a year we finally get to fight her and her ost really did the the fight justice. everything just comes together
Some people say her death felt rushed and cheap just to hype up shogun, honestly, could care less, she had a better death than most villains in other games with long roadmaps, if they bring her back, she would have to become integral to the plot again, but considering we have only met 3 out of 11 of the Tsaritsa's agents, her death paves the way for future antagonists to shine more, and I can't wait. Characters with backstories and hype built around them have been killed for less or at least went out with a bang. Rip Frostnova.
@@ThatFedoraGuyyy the whole point of her existence was to be a mini villain at the beginning, and after this we’ll start to be introduced to the other harbingers, who make signora look like an angel. she’s already appeared in 3 regions, i’ve had enough of her. and i’m just gonna say it, the only reason people like her is because she’s hot. but what about her lore then? i don’t really know what is considered good lore. she lost her loved one, and turned into a big ass fire moth, and now she’s dead. that’s over. if we learn about literally any other harbinger, they’d also have ‘good lore’. Childe has a whole backstory connected to the Abyss, and no one talks about it. and i agree that death was cool asf
Fun fact, the Italian names the Harbingers have are all taken from characters/types in Italian theatre, Commedia dell’Arte! They’re their Harbinger names, not their real names as people- I guess the Fatui just liked those kinds of names
Bro...he literally described la signoras past through a song. He understood perfectly her personality. La Signora is a very complex character with a very sad and angry past and the song is cold. That he got it perfectly. You deserve more subs
I know this OST is normally called "La Signora's Theme", or more detailed, "La Signora's Phases Themes", but I like to think that this piece should be divided in two parts, for two different characters: La Signora, and Rosalyne Kruzchka-Lohefalter, also called "The Crimson Witch of Flames". The first part of the OST explains who La Signora is: a woman that, in order to tame the mortal flames that were burning her from the inside, and in order to get revenge on an unjust world dominated by the Archons, decided to serve the "Revolutionary God", the Tsaritsa, who gave Rosalyne a Cryo Delusion in order to light down those deadly flames, for which she was feared back in her past, indeed this OST puts an ominous omen onto the player, as should do a Snezhnayan diplomat, La Signora. The second part introduces you the real identity of Signora, who is the famed Crimson Witch of Flames. The Cryo Delusion has turned off her rampant flames, which have become "embers". The transicition moment, when she is the in ice block, is a sort of moment for Rosalyne's stream of consciousness: while she's slowly returning to her original form, she remembers. She remembers a cruel past: she was born and lived in Mondstadt, and in her most precious years, she fell in love with a knight, Rostam. But, at a certain point, a civil war broke out in Mondstadt, and her lover died on the battlefield. In order to get revenge on her lover's murderers, somehow she became a witch, whose flames could burn all the nation without mercy. Once she got her revenge, she still was herself, even with those overwhelming powers; but she was feared by her own people, and in a certain way got exiled. Alone and with those flames which were devouring her in the deep, she was found by the first Harbinger, Pierro, who sent her to the Tsaritsa's throne. The entire OST where she is the witch, is about this tragedy. In the end, Alex was right when he wrote "Signora is a romantic": indeed, she was so much romantic, that when all of her hopes got destroyed, she's become hating everything of this rotten world, but there is something that she hates the most: the Archons. Probably, she wanted to get revenge on Barbatos, under whose ruling her lover died. The first part is a Snezhnayan anthem, the second a Mondstadtian elegy. Now, actually we don't really know if she's definitely dead or not: yes, she got executed by Baal, but she is a witch, and can technically come back to life, reicarnating. I hope she gets back because she could have so much potential, as a villain, as an anti-hero and as a possible ally. Anyway, I liked so much your reading, Alex, you're unique.
@@vortex_9732 I mean, take a good look at Defender's Will, Braveheart, and Crimson Witch of Flames artifact sets. The lore descriptions, that is. As well as Elegy of the End bow.
The gangster "vibe" you were talking about at the end is also can be heard in childe's 1st and 2nd phase boss theme ost, you could say its the "fatui theme". I would really would like to see you react to childe's/ tartaglia's theme as well :D
Something I appreciate and love a lot about your channel is how you pick up on things I would never have noticed even on a dozen relistens, and not only that, but explain how important or cool this bassline that's buried underneath a million other instruments, or this one subtle harmony is, and how much it adds to the storytelling of a track. Watching your videos has definitely made me appreciate music way more than I already had, and there's been more than one time where I've heard a song before, went "that songs alright" and thought nothing more of it, and then watched your video on it and felt like I was listening to a whole new song in the best way possible. Your enthusiasm is contagious, and you do a very good job at explaining musical concepts in an easy to understand way so people can appreciate it. Love it, love your channel, keep it up!
My dude accurately deciphered a character just based on her music. Thats how you know how damn good OP he is in his profession. You, sir, have my respect.
Why is this theme so rediculously good, it mixes trap, metal and opera and yet with those vastly different genres it somehow pulls off the perfect mix, nothing sounds out of place even when you have guitars riffing, the opera soloist belting her heart and a trap beat rumbling in the background somehow, IT. JUST. WORKS.
Yo, just thought I should leave this here. If you didn't know, Genshin is streaming an online concert on October 3rd. I would definitely recommend watching that when it comes out.
I heard that it'll be postponed, but i haven't read any official info yet. Only an instagram post with a letter in Chinese, so i can't really confirmed it
I don't know what kind of magic the composer put in this track, but I got shivers. I don't even play Genshin Impact yet hearing this told my body directly that "this is bad: Stay on guard". Wow.
You pick up so much about characters from the music, that it makes me suspect that you've played it or at least researched lore, which I doubt you have because then you would've probably told us Which is a testament to how well this music portrays the characters it was written for, stellar. This lady's singing gave me goosebumps.
I smiled so much watching this and especially the Azhdaha theme because that one in perticular is my favorite, so it makes me happy to see you enjoy them this much!! They have such strong emotions and personalities, gosh I love video game music What I wouldn't give to see a reaction of The Last Song from Drankengard 3 tho, I promise that one is a trip
His explaination is so fucking on point and if when u know La Signora's lore and replace somethings (if that makes any sense, like in the melody when it's no longer angry but rather comforting and beautiful while still sounding lonely, it's not a snezhnayan army but rather presenting the time with her lover in this calm before the storm way, foreshadowing the war and blood that would happen next) This theme just describes her love, her loss, her anger, her cold, HER ENTIRE CHARACTER. Not a lot of spoiling here cuz random ppl that might see this may not appreciate it but it is like just chanting her story in the most beautiful way ever, and yes, she is lonely and very much a romantic.
There are motifs in common between signora’s theme and childe’s, it’s probably gonna be the harbingers signature. React to childe’s boss themes too please, they’re also absolute bangers. Tbh all weekly bosses themes are lit.
Wow... I know that this song represents her duality: the bitter cold exterior vs the inner self burning with rage and hatred: the elegant exterior vs the erratic side hidden within. Now I see her in a different light. That aria in the second part actually sounded like her inner monologue. You can feel her pain and agony, but also her resolve. She made a solemn oath to go down that path and she didn't regret it. This is consistent with her final words "I never asked for redemption". This made her death all the more tragic, she sealed her own fate...
I would absolutely love to see you cover Childe's (Tartaglia's) boss theme!! It's one of the older themes and judging from the fact that you said you are already playing the game you probably already heard it but I would love to see a reaction regardless!
I kinda wanna see that too. Never-Ending Performance is one of the beat underrated tracks imo, and the start of it carries so much of Childe's personality.
I don't know if you'll read this, but just to explain something: Signora was (originally) from Mondstat which is basically something like Europe, her name isnt Signora, that's just her name as one of the Harbingers. Anyway, she was originally a very nice person that lost her lover and became something like a pyro elemental out of anger to try and hunt down the being that killed him. I like to think that "romantic" piece on the first phase of the battle hints to that. After that she started to be feared by everyone else, and was taken in by the Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon and got her Cryo powers from her I believe. Originally she's a Pyro elemental (second half of the track), resembling a Moth, and she's very freaking old.
I appreciate the comment tho I won't read it for now, I first want to play her story etc in the game, then I'll come back here to see if I missed anything! I'm playing Genshin rn, tho at a very slow speed to make sure that when new tracks come out, I can do blind reactions such as this one
@@AlexMoukalaMusic I hope you don’t get disappointed but I guess you kind of need to hear this… La Signora’s lore is currently not explored and hints of her lore are just scattered as easter eggs such as the Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set and some dialogues and lore behind Mondstat’s history. That’s all I can say for it since its all we have and honestly this track represents her story in such a better way than the actual game. Here’s to hoping mihoyo revisits her character.
i couldn’t agree more on them making characters’ themes so good and so personal that others can relate to it so they would want to get the character. exactly this happened to me with raiden; i’ve never wanted her before i learned her story and her trailer made such a huge impact on me. the desperation and sadness, self isolation for the sake of pursuing eternity, finding peace - i could see some parts of me in her so i could relate to her and understand her more. had to get her after this, no regrets 💜
Same! I didn't like her design and her OP aura(I play a lot of underdog characters) but after learning about why she is the way she is, I empathised with her, and wanted to learn more about her. She seems more relatable and human now and I can't wait for her rerun. I tried to get her during her banner but I lost my 50/50 to Qiqi, which was okay though.
holy shit he breaks down tracks like how lipase breaks down my body fats. and the bass sounds divine. it gives me a smile when i see him vibing so hard on the music he reviews. cuz we can see this man's passion for music plus he actually explains why certain parts are good and complex, and not just saying that it's good to listen at.
I love seeing you nerd out about the genshin tracks, you always have such kind yet insightful things to say. I'm a violist so I just sorta hyperfocus on string part like "oooooh strings" but hearing you talk about all the gorgeous layers of the work is so fulfilling!
15:20 -- this part, with opera over symphonic metal, is also HEAVILY reminiscent of Daughter of the Dark God from Octopath Traveler. Which I think is fantastic. This game's soundtrack is like a mix of Octopath Traveler, Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy, with extra Chinese instrumentation.
The part after the battle, when the Raiden Shogun is about to finish her with the Musou no Hitotachi, is also really nice. It's a mix between the phase 2 and high singing into Inazuman theme. Really nice.
I love the way you break tracks down and analyze them. There is so much to music in games that gets underappreciated and the fact you can highlight what makes certain parts really hit home is great. Also seeing you able to pick out parts of their story just from the music is awesome.
Your reactions to the game tracks are just too enjoyable because of how passionate you are about music. I LOVE these, you really transmit your emotions and get me hyped every time because I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the music in Genshin Impact is one of the most magical and impactful elements in the game for me. Subscribed! Keep it up, Alex!
Watching you react to music from one of my favorite games is honestly so entertaining, and I love how you just lose your shit every time a new element is introduced to the song, the fact that you are able to explain *why* the song is so good makes me so happy, because I couldn’t put it into words before
La Signora is surprisingly a tragic character as in some cases the song takes a break from the menacing boss them and goes for a more somber side but then returns to a more wrathful tone. La Signora was once a woman who truly felt love but that love was taken from her and so that all that love shifted and transformed into a wrathful person who in the ended even destroyed her own body in her rage. I believe this song truly fits la signora to a T due to the duality in the song were some parts are aggressive then others are calm and sorrowful almost. This is almost to say that the woman who was once known as Rosalyne became the cold hearted and cruel La signora of the fatui harbingers. honestly hats off to hoyo labs to this song this theme has to be my most favorite theme of all time
Please do Childe/Tartaglia's theme "Letter from Ajax" and his boss battle themes as well! He's from the same organization as Signora but the two are totally different both in personality and in boss battles and it really shows.
I really love how Alex can make me appreciate songs I already loved even more. You are amazing at analyzing and putting things into a light that non music professionals such as myself can enjoy.
Would be interesting to see you analyse Childe's themes, aka Tartaglia, also from Genshin Impact, since he's a bit of a recurring character. He has 4 themes in total: Letter From Ajax, Never-Ending performance, Rapture of the chaos, Wrath of Monoceros Caeli. The last 3 are to be listened in sequence. Also because all 4 themes were amazing during the concert. I have a bit of a hard time choosing whether I liked Letter From Ajax or Never-Ending Performance better.
You really nailed this analysis, without fighting Signora yet, I assume. This boss fight is an emotional one for the main character, and the music also captures Signora's beauty and danger, as you said. She's seductive, gorgeous, but utterly evil and dangerous at the same time. She also manifests cryo and pyro elements, hence the contrast between the 2 big phases. I wish I knew what the lyrics are, the operatic singing parts. Thank you MiHoYo and thank you Yu Peng Chen. 💜
Genshin Impact's music makes me feel spoiled as a gamer, and THREATENED as a composer.
The reason why should be apparent after watching this video.

It feels even more emotional if you actually know her lore. It's definitely my favorite from Hoyo-mix.

As a guitarist I can tell you right now those arpeggios are NOT easy by any means. They're very fast runs and require incredibly precise articulation cause EVERY single note is picked. No legato, no hammer-ons or pull-offs. It's all individually picked notes. It's beautiful.
They even played it live during a recent orchestra mix and you can see the guitarist pull it off
Their difficulty doesn't come from the speed (a lot of guitarists can play much, much faster), it comes from the unconventional fingering because they are violin arpeggios.

Wow that's super cool!

For me, music is the most important part in games. All of my favorite games have a fantastic soundtrack. Not just battle themes, but atmospheric ones as well.
I never doubted music in videogames, and oh boy was i god damn right. Im looking at you, NieR ost
Music sets the rhythm for both the storytelling and the combat. It allows new generation of people who grew up with games to love classical music and other genres. It made me cry when I went to an orchestra of video game soundtracks. Thats the power of music.
If a game has good music i would have fun even if the game itself is boring

For anyone not entirely familiar with La Signora and want more crumbs of her story, it is depicted in the Crimson Witch of Flames set and Culminates in the Pale Flame set (flower). I love hearing the latin in her theme, since its a dead tongue it gives you that sense of time that La Signora has carried this weight with her for so long. The lyrics are sung in the perspective of neither La Signora or the Crimson Witch but it sounds so vulnerable I can’t help but feel this is from Rosalyne Kruzchka-Lohefalter’s perspective…she was used for her hate

It does have a Halloween feel to it.

2:25
On the topic of Signora's (Rosalyne's) Nationality, it is very complex and confusing at first.
For eg) Rosalyne is titled Signora,
Ajax/Childe is titled Tartaglia,
Balladeer is titled Scaramouche.
Very informative, thanks!!!
Sidenote, but Childe and Balladeer are still titles, while Ajax and Rosalyne are names. It's unknown about Balladeer's names. Signora is also "The Crimson Witch"
@@TheJuicyTangerine,
Lord _Kunikuzushi,_ if I can recall correctly is Scaramouche aka the Balladeer's true name. "Country Destroyer" is its translation.

@@l.0704 idk I just searched up la signora theme 🤷♀️

And then they hit you with that climax.
i mean, right before you fight her in the story, she says "Til death do we part!"
... but she's saying it as a threat, LOL

Alex's reaction in a nutshell was like "STOP STOP! HE'S ALREADY DEAD!" and all I could do is feel the same XD
His hype for music is contagious, man!
"They can't keep getting away with this!"
As a Mihoyo fan for roughly 3+ years, let me just say: They totally can and do keep getting away with this.
Yes was so upset with what happened to her in game but when I do weekly boss I'm happy that I get to see her every week! Hahaha
😆
Some people say her death felt rushed and cheap just to hype up shogun, honestly, could care less, she had a better death than most villains in other games with long roadmaps, if they bring her back, she would have to become integral to the plot again, but considering we have only met 3 out of 11 of the Tsaritsa's agents, her death paves the way for future antagonists to shine more, and I can't wait. Characters with backstories and hype built around them have been killed for less or at least went out with a bang. Rip Frostnova.
@@ThatFedoraGuyyy agreed

Not a lot of spoiling here cuz random ppl that might see this may not appreciate it but it is like just chanting her story in the most beautiful way ever, and yes, she is lonely and very much a romantic.
your breakdown of the first phase fits so well with la signora's tragic story. It amazes me how music can tell you so much without much words.
And also Dvalin's fight theme.
It's just so good
I kinda wanna see that too. Never-Ending Performance is one of the beat underrated tracks imo, and the start of it carries so much of Childe's personality.
@@atriyakoller136 I think he already did Zhongli and Dvalin theme
@@mirzafarhan546 I saw the Zhongli one, but not Dvalin.
I don't know if you'll read this, but just to explain something:
Signora was (originally) from Mondstat which is basically something like Europe, her name isnt Signora, that's just her name as one of the Harbingers.
Yea, she took the title of The Crimson Witch of Flames.
I appreciate the comment tho I won't read it for now, I first want to play her story etc in the game, then I'll come back here to see if I missed anything!
I'm playing Genshin rn, tho at a very slow speed to make sure that when new tracks come out, I can do blind reactions such as this one
@@AlexMoukalaMusic Oh absolutely, didnt mean to spoil! :D
@@AlexMoukalaMusic I hope you don’t get disappointed but I guess you kind of need to hear this…
La Signora’s lore is currently not explored and hints of her lore are just scattered as easter eggs such as the Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set and some dialogues and lore behind Mondstat’s history. That’s all I can say for it since its all we have and honestly this track represents her story in such a better way than the actual game. Here’s to hoping mihoyo revisits her character.
@@laksharora6889 Wait... you mean the same title as the Artifact set used for Pyro power?
I've been killing Signora over and over but never did i realized her battle theme was this good
i couldn’t agree more on them making characters’ themes so good and so personal that others can relate to it so they would want to get the character. exactly this happened to me with raiden; i’ve never wanted her before i learned her story and her trailer made such a huge impact on me. the desperation and sadness, self isolation for the sake of pursuing eternity, finding peace - i could see some parts of me in her so i could relate to her and understand her more. had to get her after this, no regrets 💜
@@dsakurai congrats on qiqi but sorry you lost your 50/50! wish you the best of luck on her rerun tho 💜
'Beautiful yet dangerous'
Yep that describes La signora a beautiful and charming lady to a dangerous harbinger her backstory is sad
holy shit he breaks down tracks like how lipase breaks down my body fats. and the bass sounds divine. it gives me a smile when i see him vibing so hard on the music he reviews. cuz we can see this man's passion for music plus he actually explains why certain parts are good and complex, and not just saying that it's good to listen at.
I love seeing you nerd out about the genshin tracks, you always have such kind yet insightful things to say. I'm a violist so I just sorta hyperfocus on string part like "oooooh strings" but hearing you talk about all the gorgeous layers of the work is so fulfilling!
It's impressive how you actually found out a part of Signora's story just by listening to her themes. It blows my mind this music is so good omg
7:36 the heartbeat from Baal’s boss theme too, it’s so fitting whenever used 😆
14:10 Man's such a good composer that even his excited table slams are on beat
I love the way you break tracks down and analyze them. There is so much to music in games that gets underappreciated and the fact you can highlight what makes certain parts really hit home is great. Also seeing you able to pick out parts of their story just from the music is awesome.
Your reactions to the game tracks are just too enjoyable because of how passionate you are about music. I LOVE these, you really transmit your emotions and get me hyped every time because I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the music in Genshin Impact is one of the most magical and impactful elements in the game for me. Subscribed! Keep it up, Alex!
I agree wholeheartedly
Watching you react to music from one of my favorite games is honestly so entertaining, and I love how you just lose your shit every time a new element is introduced to the song, the fact that you are able to explain *why* the song is so good makes me so happy, because I couldn’t put it into words before
Mihoyo just hire this man. Him together with Yu-Peng Chen, they're gonna conquer the world
La Signora is surprisingly a tragic character as in some cases the song takes a break from the menacing boss them and goes for a more somber side but then returns to a more wrathful tone.
LETS GO I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
I really love how Alex can make me appreciate songs I already loved even more.
I've always loved video game music, but every video Alex makes gives me a whole new level of understanding and appreciation. Thank you.
You could tell every dime of genshin’s budget goes to the music
It was nice seeing you in the Genshin livestream. You did an amazing job!
