When it comes to tone, my response is always about the hands and your touch on the bass. My bass has a great all around tone with the EQ flat. I'm plugged directly into a passive Telefunkin DI. No pedals and no other EQ. Plug up your bass into an interface and listen to how your bass sounds before any EQ and make adjustments from there. I hope this helps.
