Love it that video is not biased. Most of the videos pick their favorite and talk about one being better than the other. I’m GSD parent, and I prefer GSDs over Malinois because they are not intense like Mals. They have air of confidence, and calmness. You can see in their eye, that they are quietly watching and assessing his surrounding, ready to respond if something is not right.

Good video. Those breeds are very similar indeed. The other difference in their temperament that I heard from their breeders is that Belgian Shepherds are very sensitive and need a gentle approach, you have to be light handen with them and easy on corrections (don't break their fragile hearts :)). German Shepherd on the other hand is tough and really confident. They both are such great dogs to work with but it's so sad that shelters are full of them (especially in Belgium) mainly because of that high drive and energy they have.
Definitely agree about the dogs in shelters and that's why our goal is to inform as many people as possible about these dogs so we avoid dogs ending up in shelters

Any reputable Malinois breeder will say NEVER get a Malinois for a pet. They are working dogs only and need to be with their owners 24/7. So if you're not in a Police, Military or Security dog unit, forget it. There may be a few exceptions, but they're rare.

I have a German shepherd that is 10 months, and I would love to get a Malinois next summer. Is it something you would recommend?Or should I get an other breed?
I think they would get a long great! I would take temperament into consideration: make sure you aren't getting two alpha's together...they could lead to fighting.
The MOST important thing is realising the intense activity and mental stimulation they both need.
They both highly active breeds and can play together and run in the park together.
Just know that Mallonois will be like a bullet and run circles and destroy everything if you don't keep up the mental and physical stimulation 😅
Today's mals are genetically identical to the Dutch Shepherd, and is not a "real" Malinois.
Can you elaborate on this, I’m curious? They do look like the same dog, other then color.
