It's a beautiful car,the focus titanium.picked one up the other day,as far as I'm concerned,it's pretty insane,Corolla or civic or Sentra or lancer have nothing on a focus titanium.
Dude, you are the absolute best, I've never watched a more informative video.............I recently purchased a 2016 Focus Titanium 2 weeks ago.......thank you again!
No sweat, it was funny making videos like this. They ended up with a new sales manager and the one car sales man who didnt like grabbing keys must of complained. Me and the owner then had a talk and we agreed to stop doing them.
The Select Shift will not allow you to hit the rev-limiter -- it will automatically upshift for you before it hits the rev-limiter. Same with down-shifting -- it won't let you "lug" the engine; it will downshift automatically rather than "lug" the engine. I'm sure that could be re-programmed, like you said, if you could find a tuner that knew what he/she was doing. One other thing about the "S" selection on the gear-lever: if you put it in "S" but *don't* press either the Up or Down buttons, it will be in "Sport Automatic" mode -- it acts just like "D" mode, but changes the shift-points to give it a much sportier feel. Also, it will never use 6th gear in "Sport Automatic" mode. Around town, I leave mine in Sport Automatic mode pretty much all the time. It shifts just like I would shift if I were driving a manual -- it's almost spooky how it feels like it's reading my mind as to what gear I want to be in -- but it's totally automatic. Really cool feature, in my opinion.
yeah it was quite annoying. I'm glad that my 2022 C8 will let you hit the rev limiter it nice to be in control. I only know because in track mode the rpms seem to come quicker and next thing you know bounce of the rev limiter couple times lol
I like my 2014 Focus (1.0L 125HP) for silence in interior. Even if you drive 90 mph on highway (Poland) you don't hear anything. The comparison to Mondeo from 1996 is unbelievable!
qmam my first run was over 8L/100km, now is below 6L/100km in town; I still work on my bad habits (unnecessary accelerations and breaking) ;-) detailed data you'll find here www.motostat.pl/member/vehicles/stats/id/67132
The select shift (sport mode) will automatically select gears just like the automatic, but with different transmission time adjustments than the normal automatic mode. However, you can still select gears, but you have a certain amount of time in that gear to select another gear manually before is will automatically select another gear for you according to your current speed factor and ratio of power.
I'm glad to see Ford really improved this car. My mom had an 03 hatch and it's acceleration was weak and the engine noise was so loud. This one is much better I am myself considering purchasing one.
in my old 2012 model, touch sensors for all doors and there are more buttons on the right bottom steering wheel allow u to control the MFT. a button that will bring u to a main menu. Compare to 2014, they are all missing. But problem for me is there is NO trunk release button and parking sensor and camera are not standard as the 2014 model....
Interesting. The American version of this car has a much nicer centre dash than the one we get here in Australia. The one here looks a lot more plastic and the screen is a tiny little thing. Great review.
Where are the blind spots located in this car? I have a 2004 Prius and there is a giant piece of plastic right behind my left ear which gets in the way of my peripheral vision. I would like a car with the least visual hindrances as possible
equestrianfluff the main one I noticed on the 2013 model were the front pillars near the window that you can see in the video (next to the front windshield) other than that visibility is pretty good
I just bought a 14 SE Hatch with 16" aluminum wheels, and I find the quality of the ride and handling to be on par with the more expensive models. One thing to watch out for on all Foci are the tires you are getting. S and SE models get some variation of Continental contiprocontact tires, these tires are hard and noisy, meant for performance and not comfort, which really stands out because the rest of the car is so quiet. On the road, you really cant hear the engine while cruising, and wind noise is minimal, the only thing that stands out is the tire noise. The tire noise presents itself in the form of a drumming hum, which becomes apparent if you are not driving on perfect black asphalt, almost sounds like a wheel bearing is going out, this is due to the hard rubbers and aggressive thread patterns used on the continental tires. If you go test drive any Foci, and a quiet ride is important to you, make sure you test on less than perfect pavement, concrete roads, and textured anti skid sections of pavement. to see if the tire noise is something you can live with. The tire noise on these continentals is the only thing that sets back the Focus from being a great commuter car. If you are not a spirited driver, and only want a comfortable driving experience, you may negotiate with the dealer to put some less aggressive tires on it before you drive out, like Michelin Primacy, read up on some tire reviews and find out what the dealer has in stock so you can negotiate. I negotiated and got the contiprocontacts replaced with contipurecontacts, which are slightly better in noise suppression, but not by much.
Anyone know how these newer Focus' compare to the older ZX3s in terms of suspension/handling? I own an 03 Focus ZX3 and have always loved the way that car handles. So tight and just eats up the turns.
Hi Mustang, just wondering for a city drive, is the steering smooth or hard, don't want to hurt the wrists (appreciate if you can advise the same for the ford escape if possible)? Also hows the highway driving, tire noise, wind noise? Are the gear changes on point? Are the seats comfortable? Is the Climate control loud? ...thanks buddy.
TheMustangStampede I'm looking to buy one of these used. In your opinion is the Focus as reliable as say a Honda Fit or Civic? A used Ford appears to be a better value for the money when purchased used vs a Civic or Fit (which have inflated prices in Los Angeles IMO.)
No its not. I think a Honda Civic is better or a Nissan Sentra. I don't think Fords hold up as good as Toyotas or Nissans. But todays Fords are good, but not as good as Japanese cars.
***** I can't contest that. My 2000 Honda Insight lasted 13 and would have probably kept running if I was willing to invest in new batteries after they died at about 200,000 miles.
you said the front has a lot of leg room. But what about the back seat? I had a 2014 Fiesta when I worked for Ford marketing and it was a little tight in the back
well I just bought one and I'm 6'3 and when I'm driving if I scoot up the farthest I can without it being uncomfortable my brother and sister still fit comfortably in the back. Thanks a ton of your vid!
Bangakang How tall is your brother or sister just curious. sorry if that sounds weird just trying to use your experience as a reference point so I can guess the room
I really like this car and want to buy it, but I am reading review saying a lot of people are saying that the 2014 Ford Focus has a lot of transmission problems. Does anybody have the same issues?
The 2012 did have an issue with clutch plates being out of balance, and leaking shaft seals. This has since been corrected. There was also an issue on 13 models concerning the transmission software, this has been corrected as well. I have a 14 and have not experienced any problems with the transmission. The thing to be aware of is that this transmission is not a traditional automatic, it is an automated manual, as such, it will drive like a manual would; pronounced engine braking effect at lower speeds, jerky acceleration with sudden changes in throttle input. This is the first car I have ever bought with anything close to resembling an automatic, so the engine braking and jerks are not unfamiliar to a lifelong manual driver like myself, but those that are used to traditional hydraulic automatics may be surprised by the different feel, is something to get used to, and worth it, considering the great fuel economy and how robust the mechanism is, compared to cvts and traditional autos, and the powershift does not require any maintenance for 10 years.
My 2013 Titanium had plenty of issues of which Ford said was "normal" or "cannot find a problem".........I dumped it. My advice stay away from anything with a dual dry clutch setup. The issues HAVE NOT been totally corrected!
The only question I have is. Does it have an auxiliary port or Bluetooth? I know this is a super old video and I doubt I'll get a response but I may as well try. I've looked it up everywhere and there's nothing saying anything about an auxiliary port or Bluetooth. That's why I'm asking here.
@@TheMustangStampede okay, thank you. Sorry to make you come back to an old vid. This is just a car I'm interested in and there's no "new" reviews on it.

I find the ride to be firm, but not like driving a rock, you do feel the road but its not jarring. The trade for the firmer suspension is the excellent handling, this car sticks to the road like glue. Just be weary of the tires you get, if you get continentals, they will be loud tires.
