Magnolia - music inspired by the works of Mike Oldfield

- Magnolia was composed and performed by Swedish group Offentlig Sektor. It is a tribute to Mike Oldfield and his music which has always been one of our greatest musical inspirations. Our aim has not been to copy his music, or to sound exactly like him. This is us getting a lot of musical stuff out of our system, and the result probably resembles some of Oldfields works to a great extent. All instruments played by Magnus Hedegård and Johan Ekfeldt except bassoon: Eva Pettersson Veltman, recorder: Lena Lindström, flute: Ragna Rydberg and vocals: Åsa Fagerdahl and Tina Lagerström.
Fantastic work!! Mike is 70 years old, and he has announced that he leave the music 😢, so we need more Oldfield music style!!! Please Offentlig Sektor, create more works like this!!!!
Very clever both in its Oldfieldian motifs and feel. Interestingly, this wonderful work captures the many Oldfields that fans who go back to Tubular Bells know well. Would love to hear more!
Great Work! - indeed very similar to Mike's work; but not only a sheer copy
MORE!MORE OLDFIELD PLEASE!!
Super !!!
Amazing. Like discovering a long lost Oldfield masterpiece.
He invented a whole new musical style - it's a shame more people don't develop it in their own direction as you have done.
Great Oldfieldean sound.
Great! Keep up that good work!
I have only just found this.... I love it! I hope you make more music like this - soon!
It could be one of his album!!great work. Ty à lot..
Great work
Bravo!
MO is one and only but U R good too :)
Yes. That section c 10:20 is fascinating. Jolly. Reminds me a bit of some paul McCartney piano pieces.
Very good music, thank you for uploading. I hope they compose more in this style.
Amazing, Thanks!
Très intéressant ! On entend bien l'influence de M. Oldfield.
Ça fait beaucoup penser à Tubular Bells II (notamment au début) mais aussi, de 10:23 à 12:40, à Platinum ou encore, surtout après 25:40, à Ommadawn.
Bref, j'ai beaucoup aimé.
J'ai ré-écouté plusieurs fois, c'est vraiment top !
J'adore !!!
Offentlig Sektor ... haha, genialt band-navn! :D
The part I like the most is @10:20
Whow.....love it

Бесподобно хрустальная музыка
Al nivel de el,felicitaciones
Part 2 please!

Very good recommendation. It reminds me of the Voyager album.
I love this tribute, especially the nod to Cardiacs at 5:34. Made my day.
Hermoso realmente me engañaste a mi que soy una recontra fan de Mike papá oldfield
Must say I enjoyed this
Impressão de ser parte da trilha do jogo Streets of Rage. Muito bom! 😃
As a huge Oldfield fan , I’d love to have this on vinyl.
I wonder if we can hold them hostage till they agree to release it... Have you heard Robert Reed's Sanctuary and Ringmaster albums? He's done the best Oldfield homages since the man himself...
@@nickgreen4731 : I promise you I’ll check into that , right after work today. AND get back to you with my thoughts right here. Deal ?
@@nickgreen4731 : Ok , Thx 4 tip ! Now I’ve listened to Sanctuary & Sanctuary II. They were awesome. You’re right. And now I’m hooked. I’ll get back into it. Thanks again.
Just wait until you 've heard the ringmaster 1 and 2.... these are even better! The track The Defeated Army is a track you would never assume NOT been made by Mike Oldfield! 😊
Robert Reed is awesome too. The Sanctuary albums are superb... the Ringmaster 2 part album is a masterpiece. I'd love to hear more from this Magnolia project too. A great Mike Oldfield homage.
Great! While I can hear obvious influences from Platinum, Tubular Bells 2, it's not a thievery, but a nice piece that stands on its own.
I wonder what the words (lyrics?) mean.
Plus, I wish I could download or buy it some other way than just snatching it from UA-cam :-)

And Ommadawn (after 25:40)
is this cd sold somewhere?
I have made an album with Minimal Prog Rock influenced music...some people hear Oldfield, Reich, Ronin and Fripp in it. It's a bit darker than Magnolia's Music, more like the first 4 Oldfield albums. Listen and enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/2HT4OLZZ5LY/v-deo.html
This deserves a better production
