  • From the 'The Miracle' album from 1989. written by Queen.
"The Miracle" is one of Mercury's most complex songs from his last years. It is one of Brian May's favourites. The entire band contributed with lyrical ideas and Mercury played piano as well as many synth-tracks.
    lyrics:
Every drop of rain that falls in Sahara Desert says it all
    It's a miracle
All God's creations great and small, the Golden Gate and the Taj Mahal
    That's a miracle
Test tube babies being born, mothers, fathers dead and gone
    It's a miracle
We're having a miracle on earth, mother nature does it all for us
The wonders of this world go on, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Captain Cook and Cain and Abel, Jimi Hendrix to the Tower of Babel
    It's a miracle, it's a miracle, it's a miracle, it's a miracle
The one thing we're all waiting for, is peace on Earth - an end to war
It's a miracle we need - the miracle
The miracle we're all waiting for today
If every leaf on every tree, could tell a story that would be a miracle
If every child on every street, had clothes to wear and food to eat
    That's a miracle
If all God's people could be free, to live in perfect harmony
    It's a miracle, we're having a miracle on Earth
Mother nature does it all for us
(the wonders of this world go on)
Open hearts and surgery, Sunday mornings with a cup of tea
    Super powers always fighting
But Mona Lisa just keeps on smiling
    It's a miracle, it's a miracle, it's a miracle
(The wonders of this world go on)
    Well it's a miracle, it's a miracle, it's a miracle, it's a miracle
The one thing (the one thing)
We're all waiting for (we're all waiting for)
Is peace on Earth (peace on Earth) and an end to war (end to war)
It's a miracle we need, the miracle, the miracle
Peace on Earth and end to war today
That time will come one day you'll see when we can all be friends (5x)
    (EMI records)

I honestly don't think there will ever be a another that can even come close to matching the amazing voice of Freddie Mercury.
But his legacy isn't just about his voice, it's his almost superhuman like fight with Aids, which I feel many people have overlooked. He endured a very harsh disease that kills people, even though modern treatments have greatly improved patients quality of life. Back in the late 80's though, AIDS awareness barely existed as did effective treatments. Freddy as much as he suffered still managed to make albums with Queen and music videos right up to within 3-4 weeks of his death. What's equally upsetting is that shortly after Freddie death, the first effective treatments/cocktail came out and quite possibly could extended his life to a degree.

I remember in primary school, in the asembelly, some days we would sing songs. And this was by far one of my favourites. I also remember in younger years of primary, “Reach for the stars” was also an amazing song... so many memories☹️

I like the Classic Queen version where it just goes right to the "the time will come..." That's the one I grew up on. This one isn't bad at all though.

The last 30 seconds the melody sounds a lot like it was borrowed from the last 30 seconds of Xanadu.
