Ive loved this movie since it came out but I just now, this year, noticed and understood the last shot of this film. As they watched Parliament blow up and show the little girl with glasses, it made me think she lived. However I realized that it showed all the characters that had died, symbolizing that everyone is V and they sacrificed their lives for the cause. It bummed me to know the girl died though.

@@jakegraham3758 what's happening here isn't really the same thing though. If the film is to be believed, the people engaged in and overcame their oppressive government through peaceful means. It was only V who ever did anything proactively viooent, and contrary to the belief of some (although I'm more inclined towards sympathy given the authoritarian lockdowns in certain states in reaction to the virus), but the US is not anywhere close to the oppressive, fiascistic regime in the movie. The revolution here also isn't a communist revolution. The people actually engaging in violence, some of whom wanting to LARP as revolutionaries, are communist agitators, helter skelter race rioters (people trying to start race war) and opportunistic looters working out their lockdown-induced jitters and frustrations, none of which actually give two cents about Floyd's murder, especially when a bunch of innocent people have been killed by those people (a lot of whom are black people, take David Horne, for example, the 70 year old retired veteran police officer shot down for standing guard over his buddy's store because some a-hole wanted a flat screen, as well as a chick whose sister tragically cried her eyes out on FB live about how she saw the protesters murder her sister). Hinestly, the only similaroties are that people are understandably pissed and that buildings are blowing up... The movie portrayed a legitimate revolution, whatever is happening here and now is definitely not, certainly not anymore anyway.

51TGM71 Not to mention the plans of the then Labour government to introduce ID cards and their attempts to shut down debate. I'm no Labour supporter, quite the contrary, but even I was surprised when an elderly Labour supporter (& holocaust survivor, as it so happens) was unceremoniously and violently removed from a Labour Party conference by security people for having dared to heckle Jack Straw (a Labour government minister). Or the criminalisation of a woman who went to the Cenotaph in London and tried to read out the names of soldiers killed in Iraq. It appears she was opposed to the war in Iraq, whereas I supported it, but it shocked me that peaceful protest was regarded as unacceptable to the Labour government. This is the real context of this movie - it has got little or nothing to do with 911, in my view, horrible as the events of that day were.

I love V For Vendetta. I liked Stephen Fry's character. When his show included a skit making fun of the government and showing their inability to stop V you knew he was aware he would be taken away in the night and probably killed. His reappearance at the end with others who died was very satisfying. Thousands of people wearing Guy Fawkes masks watching the twisted government burn. Evie standing with the detective who hunted her and V watching the beginning of a new England. Still gives me chills.

Inspector Finch is my favorite character because he is us, the audience - and, more accurately, the complicit citizen who, as V pointed out, knows there's something wrong with our government but has not yet developed and the courage to be that agent of change that V and Evey (great name for this movie, btw) have become. The pinnacle of Finch's journey is when he lowers his weapon on Evey which allows her to blow everything up, to include destroying his own complicity! Stephen Rhea was perfectly casted as his worn down facial features literally embody the spirit of an oppressed people who have learned to tolerate the infringement of all their liberties while hating themselves for it. V for Vendetta is one of those movies that are so good that I'll finish watching the whole thing if I happen to flip to it through the channels whether it has two minutes left or two hours.

Finch has his own storyline and character arc fleshed out much more in the original comics this film is based on. This is only one of the reasons it is even better than the movie. Absolutely worth reading, whether you enjoyed the movie or not. Alan Moore's writing is superb, and David Lloyd's congenial drawings are breathtaking.

So scary thing. I finally watched V for Vendetta tonight. Fantastic movie. Once it was done, I heard that John Hurt passed away. I wasn't sure who it was until I looked him up to see that he was Adam Sutler. It was the first time watching a movie with a dead guy in it I didn't realize just died. V for Vendetta is without a doubt one of my all time favourite films. One of the best things for me about it was V himself, in that he was a complete mystery. No one ever sees his face (even though the mask does come off, the face is never revealed), not even we the audience and no one knows or figures out his past before he went to Larkghill (not even V himself) which leaves it to the audiences imagination as to who he is and he could be anyone. Oh and I love V's introduction to Evey-it's just so strange even by the standard of film quotes. One of my all time favourite quotes in fact.

When V for Vendette first came out I had just come out as bisexual to my family. My step mom in particular was not accepting of this and began to tell me how much of a freak I was and that no one would ever love me. The scene with Eve reading Valerie's notes made me feel strong in the face of such cruelness and more importantly not alone. My step mother openly hated the movie and wished she had never let me see it. But the message from it were already inside me and she could never take that away as much as she wanted to.

The book is a better story, but it's a tough read.
The film is fun to watch, but gives a disappointingly simplistic view of the setting wherein the government is definitely bad and rebellion is definitely good, and ends on an optimistic note, as opposed to the tonal and moral ambiguity of book ending's state of chaos, or history's Guy Fawkes whose failed mission only made things worse for the oppressed.
For context, I saw the movie first and have no delusions about source material always being better than remakes / further adaptations. They're both okay.

Hadrian Zelanog I didn't say the book was better, I meant to say it's more or less on par with the movie.
When I say the book is "a tough read" I mean it's goddamn hideous to look at, and with so many panels per page half-full of text that it might as well be a prose novel.
The narrative got dumbed down in the movie for the sake of mass appeal, but it does make significant improvements in the presentation of the story.
      The book isn't *just better.*

I have no idea why people do not talk about the score for this movie. It is sombre and haunting during the saddest scenes like Evey’s imprisonment and her learning about Valerie, but also very uplifting during the most inspirational scenes like when Evey is in the rain and raising her arms.

Chris, thank you so much for acknowledging November the fifth (or Bonfire night/Guy Fawkes night as we call it here!) Many youtubers don't make an effort to revolve content around holidays in other countries so this was amazing - you managed to be respectful to us Brits, watch a film you clearly love and review it with passion. You're very quickly becoming one of my favourite youtubers! You really deserve all the praise and credit you get!

@@MasterGaming-ve4gz no Joker is overrated. Bruce Wayne is a child in the movie. Who is the antagonist? Robert Deniro or Thomas Wayne who might be Joker's father. That part was stupid and played for fan theories. Did we really need to see Bruce's parents die again. WB has killed them more often than all the times Uncle Ben has died. Joaquin is better than Jared but Mark Hamil and Heath Ledger are still the best versions of the Jokers.
