Rock history here! Gillan was such a fabulous band..Every member contributed greatly to these songs..Always a drag hearing how the internal dynamics of the bands management wasn’t on the up and up
I'm just starting to discover this amazing era of this legendary vocalists career and Gillan delivered some of the most bone crunching and kick ass music of his career starting with this 1979 classic
Sad news that Bernie Torme has died. I saw him/Gillan on the Glory Road tour in 81 at Newcastle Mayfair. Such a good, cool, guitarist. Thank you Bernie.
Thats really sad news , first concert i ever went to at Newcastle city hall and then went back stage to meet the band...Sad sad news about Bernie..Great guitarist
Saw Gillan loads of times early 80s in Bham. The Odeon, Barbarellas, Aston University with Ray Fenwick, Bernie and Jannick, even saw Gillan playing guitar at Barbarellas... sad to see Bernie has passed away.
I really like Ian and his band Gillan. Great musicians all. No airplay or promotion whatsoever in the US. Bernie Torme is amazing. He kind of reminds me of Billy Idol's guitarist Stevie Stevens, but each with their own playing style. Ian's voice was very strong here as well. So sad Torme left because he and his bandmates weren't getting paid or barely at all. Love Ian Gillan, but he should've looked out for his bandmates.
Saw them twice in the early 80's at Bournemouth Winter Gardens, the best acoustic venue locally but sadly long gone. We now have the "acoustic-less Bmth Conference Centre" instead! McCoy and Torme were awesome. Even after Gillan split, why weren't they still huge? So talented, surely they should have come to the fore again somehow. Sadly missed, but I thank them for those fantastic years of brilliance, especially Mr Universe and Glory Road!
Sudden urge to look this up today and I find Bernie Torme is dead. Quite sad; I saw them at Reading Rock c.79/80 and they were excellent. This is a great recording.
I feel as though Ian is almost kind of flirting subconsciously, tossing his hair in his face, screaming through a wall of hair..its like he looks so sexy at the moment and knows it!!
Sounds great. All of them. Bernie is in his element. Here he didn't have to do everything and could just lay back and put out his parts in his inimitable way. But they say Ian screwed them all and Bernie was the first to say uh-uh and go. This sounds better than the album version. Great.
Bernie Torme.
Someone should have told the guitar boy, that he would better match with a punk band - because of his knowledge of 5 chords and playing just notes with no connection to the song.
Gillan ... The Best !!!!!!!

Great line up at this time... Glory Road is such a good, often overlooked, album.
Magnificent!! A special shout out for Colin Towns - brilliant writer and performer.

My first ever gig, aged 12. The magic tour. Topless women and Ian playing the bongos. My life was never the same 😅
Mmmmbbaaaah, sublime!
Sad news that Bernie Torme has died. I saw him/Gillan on the Glory Road tour in 81 at Newcastle Mayfair. Such a good, cool, guitarist. Thank you Bernie.

Gillan was an incredible band and along with Rainbow and Whitesnake the band that carried the Deep Purple torch when Purple broke up
Great band! Saw Gillan at one of the first gigs at Rock City 4th March '81 on the same tour! Definitely the best line up with Bernie on guitar! 😎

Great band!
Great footage!
RIP Mick.
I remember reading about Gillans band in hit Parader in the seventies, and as Deep Purple fan I looked for thier albums in stores but never found any.
Saw them twice in the early 80's at Bournemouth Winter Gardens, the best acoustic venue locally but sadly long gone. We now have the "acoustic-less Bmth Conference Centre" instead! 6:26 Bernie is so in love with Ian there, sings along too :D
I feel as though Ian is almost kind of flirting subconsciously, tossing his hair in his face, screaming through a wall of hair..its like he looks so sexy at the moment and knows it!!
Brilliant guitarist
Watch him with Gillan at barberars
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE AND A TOTAL LOST SOUL FOR HELL IN NOT WORSHIPPING THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY JESUS CHRIST....

This week I got vinyl of it!

At 5:02 Bernie has the look of a young Michael Schenker.

Bernie the boss!
Pure Class....
He can play wow Bernie
Love Bernie's tone
Always loved john hair cuts, when he stayed with us thing it was bauld with a pony tail
At 3:32 Bernie goes into Paranoid a little bit :D
Sucks he never got an airplay here in states. After Purple he put out some great music. And didn't become a hair band like Coverdale
q pena no haberlo tenido en su momento
is this the line up i saw at Reading festival many tears ago?
Reading 1980? I was there!
muy bueno 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Гиллану надо было бы попробовать с Ингви Мальмстином посотрудничать, результат был бы крутым.
Bongos on a bin!
B Torme était un trés bon guitariste ...RIP
Клево!!
Bernie Tormé
Should have been Bernie Tormé instead of Blackmore for Purple's reunion in 84 , he would have been the best along with the others !
5 poor cluesless souls disliked this
buenisimo guitarrista como es su nombre ?

Si no fuera por él se hubiera retirado.
Bass guitar fat roshi
bass beer at 3 mins
The bassist with bald head and beard could look perfect for nowadays. I guess he was a weirdo in 1979.
una garcha igual eh
