And trust me there were times when I was so upset over my cookies because I thought they were horrible. But I'm so glad I didn't give up and I think because I didn't have the choice (people kept asking me to make some for them!). So it forced me to keep going. And so glad I did! Hi I have to tell you how things went. I brought a book quite a way back called the bisciteers book of biscuits. I did a recipe from there as its the English version of the USA cookie I suppose. It was OK I didnt get to ice them I just wanted to try them out 1st. Some were a little uneven but I finally started to get better at the end ( typical ) I don't think I will use this recipe again, I'm going to try the one you do. I just hope that your flour is plain flour in England. I think once I have the technique down I will go for the icing. Anyway love this video they look amazing, just thought I'd let you know how things went. Keep up the great vids I really enjoy watching your creativity.

    I haven't done this before but am planning to try for Christmas. I do have a question. You mention letting the outline dry before adding the flood. When you added the berries to the door wreath do you also let it dry before adding the next color? Thanks! And I appreciate this tutorial very much! I'm excited to give it a try :)

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 роки тому +1

      I'm so happy you'll give it a try! When you're working with thicker icing you don't necessarily have to let it dry, sometimes if I'm in a rush or just want to get it done I will wait just a bit then do it or if my icing is nice and thick I'll do it right away. But if I can, I try to wait because when it's dry I know it won't ruin the shape. If im doing a set, I'll do all the green leafy parts and then I'll come back and add the berries so they have some time to dry in between.

    What is the size of the piping tip you are using in the beginning?

    • @LittleCookieCo

      I just use tipless bags so they don't have tips and I cut the hole to the size I need!

  • @michellewaltz6971
    @michellewaltz6971 2 роки тому

    I've got the flooding down pretty well, but when I try and add (very simple) details my icing seems way to thick, I'm using outline consistency and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, detail icy won't smooth out (example: black belt on a Santa Cookie) I use a tipless piping bag, am I not cutting the tip big enough, or do I need to thin out icing. I've watched almost all your video and love them and have learned a ton.

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 роки тому

      It could be that your icing is too thick, so you may need to thin it down ever so slightly. When you mix it you want it to hold its shape (if you take the spoon out) but if you jiggle the bowl with enough force then you see it melt back into the icing.. another thing is it could be your not adding enough icing to the belt. So in small areas with thicker icing I like to fill that area up nice and thick or high because the more icing you have there the easier it is to smoothe out!

      It depends, I'd you're using a fan or a dehydrator about 30-45 minutes or so. If just air drying on the counter could take up to a couple of hours!

      It takes a lot of practice so don't be too and on yourself. The hardest step is actually trying and making them, once you do then you know what you want to improve on and can focus on that! The projector is a lot I only bought one after I had sold a bunch of cookie, people were asking me to make them so it just happened I started selling, it was never the plan! But there are other ways as well, I'm not artistic at all, freehanding things is very hard for me so I've tried all the ways to copy things. Here's another way as well I liked to do a lot before a projector

    How do i keep the frosting from being sooooo runny? 🥺 and how do you make the cookie dry fast enough?

    • @LittleCookieCo

      Hi! There's a couple things wrong as icing shouldn't take more than 8 or so hours to fully dry. If your icing is too runny, then try adding less water next time. A little goes a long way. And if you do put too much, add some more powdered sugar to it. And it probably wasn't drying because it was overmixed or had grease in the bowl or the beaters. Here's my icing, hope this helps you!

      @@LittleCookieCo hi 😃… oh wow yup i put a whole cup of water and 4lbs of powder sugar… i even added half a bag more of powder sugar and still no change. 🤔 hmmm what does it mean when after a day or two the icing separates the bottom looks oily and the top is pure white ? 😬

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  Рік тому

      It's totally normal for the icing to separate. Usually the more water or thinner the icing is the faster it separates. You can massage it back together if it's still in a piping bag or stir it again. I put my icing in the fridge overnight when I don't use it as it slows down separation.

    • @LittleCookieCo

      Do you live in a really humid place? Do you cover your cookies while they dry or overnight? What is your recipe if you don't mind asking. And are your bowls and beaters completely grease free? Maybe try wiping them down with vinegar to make sure. What brand of colours are you using? Strange that it take so long to dry. This is my recipe and method maybe you can compare and see whats different?

      @Little Cookie Co I live in South Carolina now. So super humid compared to where I'm from. It was October when I tried this so not a super humid month but still humid. And I didn't cover them. I left them out. I washed the bowl and beater but I can try vinegar. And I used wilton color and Americolor food coloring.
      And my recipe was 4 cups confectioners sugar. 3 Tablespoons meringue powder. 9-10 Tablespoons room temp water. But I've used others as well. I can try yours if it's different. Just so frustrating. It took about 3 days the last time to be hard.

      Oh no that's terrible, there's nothing worse! There are some cookie groups in Facebook, I know some are called anything goes cookies, cookie decorating for beginners and a few others that may pop up when you search those, they always have a lot of help because there's people that go through the same issues. I know some I've read run a dehumidifier but if you don't have one then it's not really helpful. But there maybe some other tips there that may help better. And hopefully you can find your answers. Sorry to not be more of a help!
