The jingle when you pick up one of the lanterns on the C64 version, will forever be ingrained in my grey cells. As well as the startling sound, when you get zapped.
Towards the end, there is a room with four levels of moving electrical fields, each with their own pattern, that frightened me as a kid because of the difficulty. Also, the version I had would often crash somewhat before this screen :(
One of my absolute favourites though! When you memorize the game, it becomes a simple test of reflexes and really quite nice and relaxing to play. Perhaps the first game I ever completed.
It was also fun to punch the rather simpleminded ninja when he stood above one of those exploding fountains. He would be temporarily stunned and therefore die in the explosion. Just generally fun to pester him really. Which was easy to do, since both the sumo and ninja kind of mirror what you do. But the shortest way to get to you, can lead to their own downfall :)
Two player mode was limited fun though. Who wants to be the sumo hulk?

The levels change somewhat and the monsters get harder after the first playthrough as I recall. I know for a fact that there is NO platform to initially land on in the blue room with the sweepers (as I called them) at 12:07 in the second playthrough; you have to land and jump immediately. That was enough to trip me up as a kid so bad I never finished it a second time.

1st or 2nd best game ever on C64 for me. I have a Top 16 C64 video loaded on UA-cam.

I agree. Bruce Lee were innovative, and very special to me too. Among top 3 ever on C64 for for various reasons.
Oh. I made a Bruce Lee tribute in 2014 in super Mario Maker :)

Many thanks for these videos. Just to let you know there is an important typo in your description, "game uploads are *(NOT)* emulated in any way"

I recall completing this game at age 8, being the only one I knew who did so.
First time I got to the last level, I stood around for a minute trying to figure out where I was - and got shot. Next time I just ran to the right. LOL

Man, I remember coming home from high school almost every day and beating this thing in like 20 minutes once I got good at it.

According to another viewer, my spectrum longplay upload of this has the fastest completion time from the first screen to the ending, if that's true then bow down to Zeus ;-)

Of course, I actually sold an original Bruce Lee C64 cassette on Ebay couple months ago, I got £12 :-) ,...you'll need an original C64 though,...unless you use an emulator.

+99mrpeacemaker - Yes - Search for "Ultimate Bruce Lee" It was a sweet remake with both updated graphics and retro. It was amazing. I'm at work and can't find a good download link at the moment. (lots of gaming sites are blocked) Will look later.
