I have found that giving my kids a break if they don't fully understand something to be absolutely imperative. It allows their brains the time to process what they have learnt and they typically always come back refreshed and informed/up to date - if not a little beyond what I thought I'd taught them!!
Even though I still have littles, I think it is something which has helped us continue to progress in our Homeschool over the years. It has also kept things fun as I never push to the point where it's a chore, it's simply a case of "ok sweet, you're not getting this (content). Cool let's take a break! ❤

I read the preschool and pre k Sonlight books to my kinder last year and we both loved it so much!
This year we are using HBL K, B, and F. Sonlight is the best part of our day!

Thanks Christine! Your updates are so helpful. We have just started grade 1, although I’m using kg math with confidence. My son loves reading but I’m having a slow go with the printing and math copy work , his hands tire quickly and he says he’s bored… I’m giving him time and patience, and then I’ll see throughout the year if perhaps we need to try a different curriculum. I hope you feel better soon!! 💝🇨🇦

The copywork can be tough for some kiddos! It's totally fine to adapt it while their little hands are still developing. :)

Have you ever heard of the Usborne puzzle books? There are puzzle books for beginner, intermediate and advanced puzzle solvers. The advanced books include logic, codes and mazes. I suggest your family try them out.

Is simply Math & math with confidence K similar? As in gentle approach? Covering the same concepts?
I used simply Math with my oldest and then we switched to math with confidence in 1st grade (& now he is in 2nd grade)
I want my younger child to use Math with confidence in the future, but I am starting him out with TG&TB first since it's free🙂 but I wonder if I should just buy math with confidence K since he will switch to that eventually.
I know it's not a big deal & we will figure it out, I was just wondering if you thought they are pretty similar?

In my experience with level K they are not similar at all in sequence but do eventually cover the same topics, but the approach is completely different.

They do cover a lot of the same concepts, but in a totally different way. MWC is (in my opinion) better for developing number sense. However, I don't think it would hurt to do Simply K and then just move on to MWC Grade 1 after that.

This was so encouraging to me. My 5 year old is struggling a bit with math and I was afraid to stop and practice in fear of getting behind. But this gave me the confidence to stop and review number recognition. We just started our school year a few weeks ago so we aren’t far into KMWC.

I'm so glad it was encouraging. Honestly, there's no point in pushing forward if they're not getting it. No real progress is being made.
