Lol, I can totally relate. My goldendoodle Barley Barker used to do this to me when he didn't want to leave a place. He was a therapy dog, and it was especially hard if he decided he didn't want to leave a facility we were visiting. Awkward for me, but people were happy that he didn't want to leave them. He was 90 pounds, so I couldn't pick him up. I had to use the same tactics as this guy in the video (i.e., drop the leash and pretend to leave him). It was always kind of alarming to walk away from Barley, but he'd eventually follow me. He died this past July from hemangiosarcoma, and he would have turned 14 next week. I miss him so much, though I'm grateful to have had nearly 14 years with him. The blessings from dogs outweigh the occasional embarassment.

Cute. The owner had absolutely no idea that when he walks away looking at his pet, the dog knows it's still in control. Had he just unleashed him and not looked back when he walked away, like he did the first time and the last time, the dog would have followed him. But wow, the patience he had with this adorable pup was Saintly. 🏆 He must really ❤ him!

@BIG MAYATE First of all, there are many ways to train dogs, most of which have nothing to do with the dog interpreting the owners feelings. But even if the dog didn't want the owner to be mad, there could be two reasons. Either the dog thinks the owner will take his anger out on it or the dog cares for the owner and wants him to be happy. What I'm basically saying is that there is literally no indication that the dog doesn't want to do the trick (if it is a trick) and definitely no indication of animal abuse

Aww. I have social anxiety and GAD, but it seems like my mental health evens out whenever it comes to my dog. She's helped me a lot in terms of interaction, even if she's being hilariously difficult. She's a dachshund mix and their notoriously independent and stubborn. She HAS done this to me before and I've had to carry her a block before she was willing to walk again :')

Just got a golden retriever recently and it’s incredible how she does the exact same thing to me on our walks lol she even had her specific spots in the neighborhood that she prefers to do her anchoring squat on lol luckily tho she doesn’t like being left behind and will come running to me once i drop the leash and say bye but golden retrievers truly are the most wonderful breed ever. I’ve never felt so much love and on top of that she’s the smartest dog I’ve ever met. I’m not even an experienced dog owner nor anywhere near a good trainer yet she’s learned every trick I’ve ever tried teaching her and picks things up in a matter of minutes

Every time we go outside my dog does that to get tummy scratches because it almost always works. It can take 2h to walk 100m with him because every walker by wants to pet him and he absolutely loves it. He is a rescue dog and had lived all his life outside, tied up and alone and he definetely deserves all the love in the world. I take him to run free in fields and dog parks for exercise.

Sweety wrappers is what you need. Give them treats and make the wrappers make a noise a few times and you have sweety wrapper enabled dogs! It's a high frequency sound too so you can rustle the wrappers at a hundred paces and that dog is after you like a cannonball 😆

@@akale2620 average weight is about 30kg, males can be 40kg. Carrying isn't easy but doable and I had to carry my stubborn female on a few occasions. Luckily I've never had one be as bad as in this video.

I watched a K-9 unit dog on UA-cam and he didn’t want to go to work so he was laying in the front yard. He got a belly rub and then he was better. Positive reinforcement.
My golden did the exact same thing. She was so stubborn at times that you had to physically pick her up. She's no longer with us. Thank you for this memory.

The Saints lived to 13 and 14, and the boxer to 13.

They were always possible, just that people are mindless slaves who can't think for themselves.
That's why my ideal dog is under 50lbs - if it breaks down, I can just carry it home.

Mines like 180 Alaskan malamute and people stare when he gets huffy l then pick up the heavy pooch home to our car. Cuz he won't go unless I pick him up.

Why? This is a harsh way to look at it but those people don't matter in your life and never forget your your own worst critic so you're gonna think you look weird or crazy but you're the only one looking at you like that. Life is fleeting so be your goofy a$$ self and love every minute of it. As long as you and your loved ones are smiling thats what matters.

@@user-df3fb9fv1o Absolutely the way we all should be, but unfortunately if you suffer from genuine, clinical acute anxiety there's no real way to control the emotion and remind yourself of this.
I personally have suffered from anxiety and social dysphoria for my entire adult life and, in my worst days, when I had the attention of a crowd that I didn't want, the anxiety would kick in to the point that my body temperature involuntarily rose to horribly uncomfortable extremes which in turn made me really dizzy, light headed, nauseous and bodily weak and in the worse case scenario I'd vomit or collapse. I had no control over it.
My dog also does this but thankfully I'm never around crowds big enough to see it and cause issue.😂
I probably would have picked the dog up too but it looks like the owner is just determined to get him to follow obediently. Strangers staring in a situation like this doesn't matter to lots of people because it's not a form of negative attention. They just love the dog.
