Victorian here. I falling in love with NZ. Two predominant biomes, temperate & subtropical, complicated by large, sharp, gorgeously snow-capped mountainous regions. Clear water, ice, glaciers, & beautiful glacier coloured lakes. .....no snakes. Ironic, the one environment I want to photograph the most inevitably produce/feature glaciers, & I happen to live in the only country on planet earth with no glaciers .. laughs. From a photography perspective, there really is, to one degree or another, a relationship between geologically active/more so dangerous tectonics & an increase in beauty. Superb channel, William. Best, A fellow Aussie.
Haha thanks mate. Agreed and yes, the tectonics bring the beautiful uplifts which happen to be so pleasing on the eyes. Throw in some temperate forest and you’ve got paradise (Chilean fiords, Coastal Alaska, NZ)
In the last 3 months you have completely changed the way i look at processing. Cant thank you enough! One of if not THE BEST photography channels on the tube hands down! Also your blatant disregard for using a tripod is extremly entertaining to me. 😂🤣
@@WilliamPatinoPhotography Yep been taking images and processing for ages......and your examples and explanations made so much sense in processing that I have changed the way I process...
Another enjoyable outing and exploration. I, too, often take a bit of time in post, walking away to return later with fresh eyes (tunnel-vision processing is something I've committed before). If a composition doesn't feel right initially, I try not to waste too much time with it, either, for it isn't likely to stop bothering me later, either. I really enjoy seeing how the work flow or compositional process works with others and this went well with my coffee this morning! Seeing all the lush greenery makes me miss living in the southern US at times but spring will eventually arrive here in North Dakota. :)
I don’t think William there has been a time when I haven’t got anything out of your videos so thank you for that. The soft light you captured along with the great touch you have with editing worked a gem. Really appreciate you sharing your tips and tricks. Beautiful waterways. Have a good week
Thanks Will. Your videos have inspired me to look at the local forests (W Canada) with fresh eyes. I’ve struggled in the past with even getting the colour temp right, and what seems representative in the greens.
This one was super helpful, will! I always love the fresh eyes reminder. I used to be so excited and edit immediately, and now I find it’s better to take a little break and come back. Because sometimes I look at my photo and I’m like, wtf was I thinking?! 😂🤣😆
Thanks a lot mate. Nah, no filters and no tripod for me. A camera and 3 lenses is all that has been part of my kit for many years now. I'll use a tripod for aurora shooting a couple times a year but otherwise it just stays at home. Regarding filters, I just shoot in golden hours and low light, which means I just don't need to darken the scene down any further. I also like my water having a little texture, so don't really need or like exposures longer than 1-2 seconds. Cheers :)
Amazing, love the shot. A somewhat personal question, But within your own collection what are the top 5 shots that just remind you of something personal in your life? Example: your first image that made you go.... hey maybe i could do something with this photography thing? And where you nervous trying to sell your first images? Or what image would you say changed your life?
Beautiful video once again. Please be careful on slippery slopes out in the middle of nowhere though, have you got an emergency transponder in case you slip and become unconscious?
Exploration brought to another level ;). On top of that: you may use the boat as foreground in some waterscape shots, when there's not much time to find the proper frame ;).
@@WilliamPatinoPhotography Haha, that's totally understandable but just saying... as an option may fit the wild landscape and using the AI generative tool you may look like an old, wooden boat for example :D. Doesn't it sound ... tempting :D? But something tells me you will go: naaah, not my type of story :D? Just tell me I'm wrong, haha!
Primary message here.... you typically can't get out of your car, walk 5 steps and find a brilliant composition. Explore a little bit, and you will be rewarded (and have some fun along the way).

I love watching your videos and I appreciate everything that you do for the viewers thanks
That means a lot. Thank you.
The boat has opened up so many more opportunities for you Will . Great edit of a hidden piece of paradise 👌
Cheers mate 😅👊🏻
Amazing - exploring those beautiful nooks !!! How exciting !!! Love the little cascades weaving through
Endless possibilities. Cheers Iza :)

Agree about a comp. Best to delete and move on, haha. Thanks a lot John
'm loving these boat-assisted explorations .
Me too! Cheers mate

Beautiful waterways. Have a good week
Always appreciate the support of the channel Ross, thank you!
The shot of you shoring the boat is so nicely composed.
Haha thanks, I liked it too and actually looked at trying to use that for the thumbnail 😅
Lovely shots Will. Don’t know how you get the greens to look like that, I love them.
Thanks Steve! Easy enough to do when nature is doing all the work. You can see it in the RAW files haha. Appreciate it mate :)
Every video you post I learn from 🤯...
Brilliant video .. thanks, William 🙏🤘📸
Thanks Gary!!
A great explanation of tonal contrasts and we're about to go into our summer season here so great inspirational images too.
Thank you Carl!
I always learn so much from all your videos man, so so good.
Glad to hear it! Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video and editing walkthrough 🤙
Can’t say I’m not a little jealous of that landscape you have to explore 😮
Another awesome video Will, thanks to you I use the brush in ACR all the time and I don't mind experimenting now👍
Cheers Dennis!

Thanks for sharing mate - great tips again and so relevant 🤙🏼 cool ending with the walk away and empty chair 🫡
😂😂 that’s a blooper. Thanks for letting me know 🤪

Haha, very true. Thanks so much for the support Jen ! :)
Great video. I've got to say, I keep shying away from the forestry editing but there is hope 🙂 Thanks for sharing Will
It’s probably the most challenging for sure but you know what you’re doing :)
Absolutely gorgeous place. Any snakes? Love your work.
Great work. Great videos. I just now found your channel, so I'll be following, but I do have a question. Do you use any filters

Thanks. Yeah I’m often miles from civilisation and carry an emergency beacon 💪🏼
Will, do you have any thoughts on how to balance having wider perspective without overloading the scene when shooting with wide angle lenses?
Exploration brought to another level ;).

Nice beard brother.. 👍
Hha thanks mate!
Do you often wonder if someone has stepped foot into some of these locations?
Absolutely. I love knowing that I’ve stood in places were literally no other human has.
@@WilliamPatinoPhotography that’s awesome. Definitely not something you could experience in the Gong
Ok, now i need a boat. Can you talk to my wife and tell her how necessary for photography it is?
yeah, I’ve gotta say , I love using the brush.
Awesome mate 🙏🏻💪🏼
