Geography of Global Conflict (The Model UN competition episode) just a couple before Remedial Chaos Theory is honestly incredible and doens't get enough credit.
The timeline where Jeff gets the pizza is the only one where Pierce doesn't mention having sex with Eartha Kitt, because Jeff is the person Pierce is the most desperate to impress
I really love how Pierce FORCES the Ertha Kitt story in every other timeline, but when Troy says "that guy suvks harder than an AIRPLANE BATHROOM" he just shrugs.
Yeah he says "Airplane Bathroom," but it sounds less like him setting himself up for a joke, and more just him reminiscing on a memory. (I don't care what Season 4 says, Pierce had sex with Eartha Kitt.) And even so, it'd pretty much be the only timeline he had justification to say it. It was teed up for him.
I love that Dan Harmond Forced the Ertha Kitt Story based on Chevy Chase actually saying that IRL behind the scenes, and Chevy not remembering he had been bragging about that xD

This episode is so rewatchable because of how well written the script is. It isn't just 7 different stories, they did such an amazing job of having all the pieces for each time line from the start and it keeps making total sense how each of them plays out so differently. It also helps that it is a really funny episode straight through. Or that it does a great job of utilizing Community's biggest strength, it's cast and how they play off each other. You can make almost any constellation of it's characters and it makes for a unique, funny and interesting dynamic.
This episode literally changed my life, for some reason it gave me such a sense of comfort and contentnes with myself and the world. To this day I have never felt as good as I did after watching that episode.
You've been on a real Harmon kick lately, and I approve. I feel like while nobody shuts up about Rick & Morty, nobody talks about Community. I'd like to see something on Harmon himself, go back to Scud and the Sarah Silverman Show, get to the roots of Harmon as it were.
I feel so ashamed that I didn't even know about Community until it was released on Netflix recently. Thanks for this video, Captain. This isn't my favorite episode, (mine just unabashedly has to be the paintball double feature ending of season 2), but I totally understand why it's yours! Cheers. I'm currently in the process of getting a new associate's degree, and I wish community college was as hilariously awesome and wholesome as this show presents it as lmao. I wish people wanted to be friends and study together, I wish there was school spirit, and I wish our Dean was, well; Dean.
7:25 He was actually eating everything but the dough. There's this hilarious bit where we rarely see Jeff eat bread/carbs. He does some weird stuff to avoid it like rip the meat and cheese off a slice of pizza. I've seen the show a few times, I think he only eats bread once. Just a weird thing i noticed. Love your vids, man!
I think you nailed Jeff's character when you talk about not caring, but a good example of how he "wants to but is afraid to" would be from the first episode this season. the "we're gonna finally be fine" song, which is almost the "norm" for all of the other characters, but it takes place in Jeff's imagination. telling us, that he wants to let go of his inhibitions and let loose. but he's too afraid. i loved your video by the way :)
I’m just so glad that people are FINALLY watching this show! And that more videos are getting made about how good it’s episodes, characters, and writing was! I love that this episodes big takeaway is that the group is at its best when they push themselves to be their truest and best selves. They can go crazy and sing and dance their hearts out while also scolding Jeff for being manipulative. And because of that he gets to see that the group doesn’t always need a leader to police their every move. It shows that for as much as Jeff thinks the group needs him, they can be fine amounts themselves and he needs them maybe even more then he thinks. I really like what you said about Jeff and his insecurities, every other person who talks about this episode always seems to villainize Jeff and always misses the point of the ending and Jeff’s role. (And hey, my favorite episode of the show is the ass crack bandit episode, I see that dig...)
community is so good, but the whole concept is that abed is always referencing stuff, including the alternate timeline idea. they didnt invent the "worst timeline"
I don't think I have ever laughed so hard while simultaneously having my mind blown to the moon. I would argue this is the most entertaining 20 minute episode of any show ever made. It is the gold standard of a perfectly executed concept.
Community became my favorite show over the course of quarantine, the first paintball episode made me realize just how different it was willing to be compared to other shows i had watched, up until the 4th season it kept surprising me with new concepts and even the 5th and 6th season have redeeming and quality moments
THIS. Was definitely my fav episode. So intriguing the concept, so well done. Love the end when Jeff walks in and they're all having fun without him. It hit.
This episode almost made me cry, at first I wasn't invested but then it evolved into a "what-if" scenarios of what would happen if any of the group goes missing, the consequenses have various degrees of dire with one exception: when Jeff goes away the mood of the group suddenly brightens, they start singing and dancing and even after Jeff comes back he doesn't join, he just sits to eat a slice of pizza, I can't help but interpret it as the show itself admiting that Jeff is the origin of all the toxicity in the group, both towards each other and outsiders, and it makes sense, Jeff constantly shuts people down the way he does with Brita when she wants to sing, the sad conclusion to take from this episode is that even the people he cares about are better off without him, the only redeeming part is that the group itself does not arrive to this conclusion. I agree that is among the best episodes, it's just a bit too tragic of a message.
I binged all of Community up into the fourth season, and didn’t realize it wasn’t a full season. So when the last episode was called “intro to finality” or whatever, I almost cried. It hit out of nowhere. It wasn’t ever the same since, I waiting weeks before starting season 5 This was one of my favorites. The first two paintball episodes, the zombie Halloween, stop motion Christmas, and one other I can’t remember were my favorite
This episode was brilliant, humorous and heartwarming at times - it perfectly captures the group dynamics and takes the show in a direction that sets up the tone for the rest of season 3. The Paintball episode was good as well, but for some reason this episode was where Community was at it's best.
The end of this episode always made me kind of sad because the group all gets along together so well when Jeff leaves. Granted, they all like him, but it seems that sometimes they operate better when he's not around.
But he's also responsible to keep the group together, like the time where everyone though that they had told their secrets, but actually only Shirley did, he was the one who came up to encourage everyone to also tell their secrets so Shirley wouldn't be ashamed and possibly leave. He does that a lot
This was the first episode of community I fully watched. It was weird, but it was funny and had an iconic gif, so I watched it. It's one of my favourite comedies and has some of the funniest jokes I've ever seen.
I would LOVE to see your break down of Season 4, on account that I'm an apologist for it and I do not understand what the problem is that seemingly everyone has with S4.
Season 4 was definitely a lot worse than the other 3 seasons, but I do agree that people pick on it too much, in my opinion season 6 was so much worse than season 4 (with a few exceptions like the last episode). Season 6 for me had so many episodes that I was almost skipping because of how bad they were, plus I really feel they had no idea on what to do with Abed on season 6. I'm just glad that even though season 6 was truly awful, they managed to make a pretty good last episode, and give this amazing show a good ending.
I think it felt like it was trying to be Community too hard, if that makes any sense. It just over all felt a little surface level I guess. Plus I just think it is the most forgettable, though I'm not done with season 6 yet. But it does have one of my favorite episodes, Alternative History of the German Invasion
For me it's so much the other way around. Season 4 is has some funny/not bad episodes (Around 5). It would be a good season (not great) if it was a stand alone series instead of a season of pre-established Community. But as a Community season, homages happen randomly instead of organically (and feel a lot more like parodies), all main characters regress to their season 1 selfs like they didn't have arcs or mature through the last three years (or are even more one-note), jokes per scene are reduced, full of continuity issues (one which includes creating backstories for characters you didn't create), and even waaay more. While season 6 is one of my favourites, feels more grounded like season 1. Has one of the best pairings in Abed and Annie. Loved Frankie especially her dynamic with Jeff and the Dean. Britta gets some backstory which I liked. And the finale was very good. Shirley, Pierce and Troy were great but they didn't make the show for me and story wise it felt semi-good that they shouldn't be there anymore. Shirley gone was to out of nowhere yes, but that's only because it was as unexpected in real life.
Funny enough, I wasn't a fan of this episode when it first aired. On re-watching though, it's easily one of my favorite episodes of the series, and it's definitely one of the most inventive episodes of any sitcom ever.
Great video, man! There were so many great episodes: - Modern Warfare, A Fistful of Paintballs, For a Few Paintballs More - Contemporary American Poultry - Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Digital Exploration of Interior Design and Pillows and Blankets - Epidemiology - Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas - Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design - Basic Intergluteal Numismatics - Cooperative Polygraphy - Geothermal Escapism - App Development and Condiments #SixSeasonsAndAMovie
Dude, I started this video and was struggling to remember the episode even though I just binged the entire series on Netflix over a week. I paused it and watched the episode and somehow I missed the episode in my watch-through. I can't believe it, it was like the episode was skipped somehow. I must be in the darkest timeline. Good thing I watched this video or I would have never seen it. That makes the episode about the dark timeline attacking the prime timeline make so much more sense now.
Just watched this episode today and knew it was one of my favourites so far in the series, it was just such a good episode especially because I love this kind of timeline concept where you see how they diverge in small decisions.
Loved this episode so much because underneath this sci-fi plot is really just a character dynamic study about what happens to the group when one member leaves. And as we all discovered the absence of Jeff's cynicism had the best impact to the group, while Troy's being the worst one.
i followed community for a bit when it first came out in 2010 which means i was 12. I was too young to be able to identify what a good show is. Now that i just finished watching the whole series, I can't believe I missed a gold of a show.
I love how all the details of what happens in the different timelines are always there from the start and you can see how it all comes together differently depending on who picks up the pizza. It was meticulously written
This was the first Community episode I'd ever seen, I'd just started college and had moved into an apartment myself, flicked through the channels, and saw the dice flying in the air.... I was hooked.
i like that this video didn’t go over the plot timeline by timeline, but more character by character! i think it helps us look at it with a more fresh appreciation (:
I absolutely love it and I agree it may be the best Community episode ever from an objective perspective; subjectively, though, there are two that I love even more than this one: 'Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design' and 'Pillows and Blankets'.
I know this is considered by most as Community’s best episode, but, my favorite episode is S02E09 - Conspiracy Theories & Interior Design. I always laugh so hard, every time. The scene in the “night school lair” is amazing. “Would that this desk were a time desk...” I love the video though!
I randomly came across this episode when it was on tv. I knew about this show but never really gave it a chance. I happened to be extremely stoned and I was immediately sold on the show, even though I was super confused as to what was happening, it was incredibly entertaining and Ive been a fan ever since
This episode was the first episode I watched of community because my brother showed me it since it was his favourite, I’m so glad he introduced me to this show
I've watched this episode dozens of times, and as far as I can tell there's only two tiny mistakes in the whole thing. otherwise every single detail, every line, every delivery is literally perfect. it's my favourite episode of any show ever.
The third season of Community is peak Community. Its season opener aptly sets up how bonkers the rest of it is going to be. Personally, the third season is also my favorite one. So many great episodes in addition to this: Pillows and Blankets, Basic Lupine Urology, Documentary Filmmaking: Redux, Digital Estate Planning. All clear examples of how Community is a genius both comedically and creatively. The show has always been streets ahead, and I love how whenever the cast gets a reaction of “Oh, this show is one of the best shows!!” The cast’s response is always, “That’s what we’ve been telling you!!!!” Community is a gem. I love this show to bits.
Funny that you mention Virtual Systems Analysis because the darkest timeline is referenced directly two episodes after Virtual Systems Analysis which is also the second episode to show a food fight (well more of a riot in this case). The show builds continuity so smoothly and cleverly. You can tell Harmon’s strict adherence to his Campbellian story circle has done wonders for the show

He actually gets cut off and then looks depressed for the rest of the scene. Which I think is funnier lol.

You've been on a real Harmon kick lately, and I approve. I feel like while nobody shuts up about Rick & Morty, nobody talks about Community. I'd like to see something on Harmon himself, go back to Scud and the Sarah Silverman Show, get to the roots of Harmon as it were.
He's a genius writer
@@paperchasindude6578 Also entirely mad.
But totally recognizes that he was a horrible person and owns up to it
He was great in Tenacious D: Time Fixers
Yeah, do this.
My favourite is "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons". Its Community, fantasy, D&D and over the top villainy. It's my jam.
Almost everyone's favorite episode is either one of the paintball episodes or this one.
Mine is Digital Estate.
@@winterwolf211 That is a fun episode. I like it better than the multiple dimension one.
@@winterwolf211 There's just too many great episodes to choose from.
Oh I just realised, 4:36. Shirley has her finger on the hot metal, but then realises that so she puts the rag in between.
It really is great acting because it wasn’t even hot most likely so she remembered to do that while simultaneously delivering angry dialogue.
This episode changed American culture. . . People now reference the "worst time line" without even knowing where it came from
thats dope
I love Community, but it didn’t invent the concept of a “worst/darkest timeline”
There’s an ending in Monster Prom where Liam writes “this is the darkest timeline” and then I watched the timeline episode in community. I was SHOOK.
Streets ahead
community is so good, but the whole concept is that abed is always referencing stuff, including the alternate timeline idea. they didnt invent the "worst timeline"
I think pierce is such a good addition to the group. I wish none of the characters ever left the show
One of my favorite jokes was the cigarette bit with Britta 😂
Yeah and because of that cigarette, in darkest timeline, Troy loses his larynx and Jeff loses his arm.
@@shameekgrimes1921 it's in Abed's head buddy
@@smarkslowplay3512 yeah no shit! I was just explaining what happens when Britta mixed with cigarettes ends with bad result.
5:03 this is one of my favorite jokes of the show just because it’s so well timed. It’s incredible
I don't think I have ever laughed so hard while simultaneously having my mind blown to the moon. I would argue this is the most entertaining 20 minute episode of any show ever made. It is the gold standard of a perfectly executed concept.
Community is one of the greatest tv shows of all time no contest
Season 3 is THE BEST season, I love the slow build up of Chang's army controling greendale
Season 3's my favorite too!
Community became my favorite show over the course of quarantine, the first paintball episode made me realize just how different it was willing to be compared to other shows i had watched, up until the 4th season it kept surprising me with new concepts and even the 5th and 6th season have redeeming and quality moments
it’s incredible how community is so innovative and different, easily my favorite comedy show of all time
2020 is definitely a part of the Darkest Timeline.
I miss 2016
Most of the population turned evil
I'm so happy that Community finally gets more attention! Please, continue with your videos on Community, spread the word!
It wasn’t ever the same since, I waiting weeks before starting season 5
This was one of my favorites. The first two paintball episodes, the zombie Halloween, stop motion Christmas, and one other I can’t remember were my favorite
I love how Abed always stops the rolling boulder from hitting the floor (as it kills pierce) until Troy's not there
My favorite episode, I was already a major fan before it but this one solidified my love for the show.
Fantastic break down!
This episode was so well done that it took me off guard when I first saw it. It’s my favorite episode in any show ever tho
i love community so much im on S6:E9 and im sad to finish it but happy to rewatch it at the same time also season 6 is actually so good
This episode was brilliant, humorous and heartwarming at times - it perfectly captures the group dynamics and takes the show in a direction that sets up the tone for the rest of season 3.
Please do more Community videos! I just started the show and I love it and your videos about it!
I would LOVE to see your break down of Season 4, on account that I'm an apologist for it and I do not understand what the problem is that seemingly everyone has with S4.
I just watched the whole show for the first time. I thought season 4 was fine especially compared to season 6 what was the problem with it?
It had a very bad gas leak, that's all.
The candy cigarette bit is one of the best 2 seconds of television ever
its weird how I've seen this episode at least 10 times plus a good amount of video essays about this and it still hasnt bored me .
Funny enough, I wasn't a fan of this episode when it first aired. On re-watching though, it's easily one of my favorite episodes of the series, and it's definitely one of the most inventive episodes of any sitcom ever.
Great video, man! There were so many great episodes:
- Modern Warfare, A Fistful of Paintballs, For a Few Paintballs More
- Contemporary American Poultry
- Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
- Digital Exploration of Interior Design and Pillows and Blankets
- Epidemiology
- Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas
- Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design
- Basic Intergluteal Numismatics
- Cooperative Polygraphy
- Geothermal Escapism
- App Development and Condiments

Really should give this Show a watch , it seems pretty fun .
Evil Troy and Evil Aaaaabed
Remedial Chaos Theory it just gets better and better the more you analyze. All on this script has a purpose and pays off in the end. It's just genius.
I don't know if it is underrated, but I always thought "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" was a great episode.
It's a lot of peoples favorite, certainly not underrated.
It's like in the top 5 most favourited.
I like it, but not my favourite though.
Great episode to bad it wasn’t “advanced” enough for Netflix.
Great episode and great use of Pierce as a quasi villain who drives the plot
This episode was always my favorite I've watched it over and over and never can get bored it's truly one of a kind!
thank you for making these. i love this show so much, you make me feel like theres another one of me out there
this has always been my favorite episode
Close to finishing Season 6, I'm so glad I can appreciate these videos now!
This was my first episode I ever saw of community and I am forever grateful for it
i like that this video didn’t go over the plot timeline by timeline, but more character by character! i think it helps us look at it with a more fresh appreciation (:
i loved that the dark timeline kept coming up
Doing my first rewatch in a while and it's solidifying itself as my favourite sitcom of all time
I absolutely love it and I agree it may be the best Community episode ever from an objective perspective; subjectively, though, there are two that I love even more than this one: 'Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design' and 'Pillows and Blankets'.
This is one of my favourite episodes. The Dungeons and Dragons one was great too in my opinion.
I would love to see a review of season 4! Also I hope you do more community videos.
I'm really enjoying the love lately for my favorite episode of Community
What an amazing episode
okay i am loving this community renaissance (since i only just finished watching it for the first time)
I know this is considered by most as Community’s best episode, but, my favorite episode is S02E09 - Conspiracy Theories & Interior Design. I always laugh so hard, every time. The scene in the “night school lair” is amazing. “Would that this desk were a time desk...” I love the video though!
I randomly came across this episode when it was on tv. I knew about this show but never really gave it a chance. I happened to be extremely stoned and I was immediately sold on the show, even though I was super confused as to what was happening, it was incredibly entertaining and Ive been a fan ever since
You are the king of ad transitions, sir.
Ive been seeing a lot of community videos ever since it came out on Netflix. And that's a good thing!
I love this. The channel I loved from my Marvel phase is making Community videos
The pun at 0:52 is robbing me sleep at night. Well done Sir
doctor: “you have 10 minutes and 28 seconds left to live”
me:
my personal favourite episode is 2x09 cooperative calligraphy...something about it i can't quite pinpoint that makes me love it so much
The third season of Community is peak Community.
You can tell Harmon’s strict adherence to his Campbellian story circle has done wonders for the show
This is such a perfect episode. I love Community!
