Thanks for watching my video. If you liked it then share it around. Happy drumming!
Can we get this guy more views? He’s seriously underrated. Great job bud! 👏
Too kind man! Share this video, post it around that's the best way to spread the word!
You are correct, Dave. Drumming is singles and doubles. The thing we, as drummers, need to do is learn how to make it interesting and musical. Our main job is to keep time, but we need to make sure we include texture in our playing. This is something that I strive for. I like your videos and the way you teach. You keep it real with the sticks hitting each other and not editing it out. It's like being there in the room doing the lessons with you. Keep doing what you are doing.
Thanks mate! I will keep on going
As a drummer who also loves paradiddles more than he should, I approve this lesson!

Thanks my man 👊👊👊
Damn this shit was confusing at first. But I'll get it
It is but well worth the effort. Keep working hard mate!
Your inversion naming scheme has no 1st inversion (the standard "root position" paradiddle is not an inversion).
You can keep the accent on the beat, or you can move the accent around. Murray Spivack taught them with the accent moved around, so that the inversions are displacements of the root position paradiddle. It doesn't have the technical challenges of accenting one of the diddle notes, but it has its own challenge of not accidentally shifting the accent to the beat at fast tempos, particularly when it's on the 16th note just after the beat.
It really doesnt matter what you call them. This is the method that works for me and also is applicable to any other rudiment or sticking...just number them. But whatever works for you 👊
@@DaveMajor It kinda does, if the definition of words matter. Otherwise, we end up with situations like the word "literally" being used to mean "figuratively." 🤦♂
I would argue that grammar is probably more important than the naming of a paradiddle.
Nice one Dave! I've been working on all four for a few months now as part of my warmup, accenting the singles is dead cool and easier - especially in the 4th inversion! - than accenting the 1st of the 4 hits. Thanks, my warmup is going to morph to a 'main drill' for now with lots of tom work and the - paradiddle 'splitting'? Is there a term for playing different inversions together?
I've also been working them on cymbals accompanied with bass - keep at it mate with the 1/4s on the hats it's fun when you get there ;)
HI mate, glad you liked the video. Don't neglect the hard things. The 4th inversion is so helpful for your ghost notes it's worth the pain.
There's not really a set name for the splitting. I call it the paradiddle secret and have a whole course on it but I'm sure some have a better name for the idea
