As a farmer I love this breed. I can tell him to herd the sheep into their pens and not even have to stop what I'm doing. They're also great at sitting and guarding them in pastures. Great for chicken coop protection as well. Keeps the coyotes, and foxes away. By days end they come in tired, eat, then pass out till next morning. These are perfect farm dogs, next to border collies.
We currently have a 1yr 7month old GSD and he already knows the english language, meaning key words like find, go, watch, look, sit, up, down, stay, no, yes, don't bite, leave it, and they also capable of understanding bilingualism. Keep them thriving. Let them do it all.
My much missed German Shepherd, I only had to give him a look and he knew what I wanted, and vice versa. Mine died from cancer in the tail. heart braking to take him for his final journey.
Growing up in Brazil, my German Shepherd (REX ... rip) was pretty much the highlight of my childhood. Picture this: endless sunny days with the most loyal, goofy sidekick by my side. Whether we were exploring causing chaos, or just chilling in the backyard, every moment was an adventure. The memories? They're as vivid as ever. Honestly, that dog didn't just bring joy into my life; he filled it with unconditional love and laughter that I carry with me to this day. x
This is a good video and so true. We've owned 5 GSD's over the years, 4 males and one female and still have a male. They are a wonderful dog if you like to train dogs and give them the activity they need. Due to our age, this will be our last. Oh my, I dread the day we're without a GSD.
This touch my heart. I'll adopt a German sheperd tomorrow and I can't wait him and my mom meet. We have Shih-tzu since I was a child, and the last one (Andrea, 14 years old!) will be effectively the last one because my parents live alone far from me and they feel to old to take care again. A secret my mom told me years ago, was she loved German Sheperd, but she's too homely to take one. So when this puppy (I named him Riva - the italian words for "River") come in my life I saw him ad a sign of the destiny. My mom is old, it's true, but deserves more and more years of dog's love ❤

I’m getting my first German shepherd in November this year, she’s due to be born in 2 weeks time (roughly)! My last dog was a border collie rescue so she’ll be my first dog from a breeder (I was really worried about their common heditary issues so I opted for someone who does full vet clearances and hip and elbow scoring, who breeds straight backed working lines.) This has been a dream for me ever since I was 6 and I’ve been actively planning for my GSD for 2 years now so I’m hella excited lol
I had a female and want to and am getting another as soon as I can. The best tip I could give you is socialize your dog. Take them everywhere as soon as you get him or her. The vet will tell you to stay away from the dog parks do to Parvo. Bring them in and drop them right in the middle of it and let the other dogs train up your puppy.(they have puppy privileges when young)Two or three days to the park and they will be dragging you there. It was great exercise for my Cindy Lou too.
GSDs are high-energy terrors until they mellow out as they mature. We have 2.5 year old and a 5 month old GSDs the puppy gets into everything. Get garbage cans with lids that close or they will drag stuff out of the trash to shred. Be patient and give lots of cuddles. I like to lay on the floor and have the dogs lick-attack me. Also, don't be afraid to roughhouse with them. They are big, tough dogs that like a challenge.
My GSD just turned 3 years old and is still a naughty puppy 🐕 but a little bit of maturity is starting to show. This video is spot on so listen well to what they say. The only problem for us is we got her during the very start of Covid so we didn’t leave the house for about 16 months hence she isn’t socialised with other animals and people and unfortunately suffers from Aggression Anxiety, going to the vet is a nightmare. She is very loveable ❤ to us but just fiercely barks when she sees another living thing. So please socialise your GSD it is very important, but enjoy your fur baby as much as you can. My girl’s name is Poppy.😊❤❤❤
At 18 seconds, that looks like my "Gunny". He and his brother "Captain" were trained by my neighbor and myself., My neighbor is a LEO K9 deputy. His Belgian and my 2 play together often. Best "Fur friends". Both will patrol the property, bite only on command and are 4-legged alarm systems. It's nice to know that our 2 "little ones" at 80 pounds each are here to thrive, protect and love as family members. When we do hit the rack and the end of the day, it's very comforting to know that 1 sleeps against the front door and the other against the back door. You can't have better security than that.
Everything is spot on. I have raised 2 GSD's. My last one passes almost 2 1/2 years ago, he was 13 years old. Most health problems with large breed dogs especially orthopedic and obesity can be avoided by NOT NEUTERING males and waiting until two years old to spay females. When it comes to my last GSD I don't think I will ever be rid of him. No matter how much I clean and vacuum I still find tuffs of his fur. I miss my block headded friend's unconditional loyalty and love.
This video is ACCURATE! I have a 3 year old long haired GSD and yes she sheds a lot of hair on a daily basis. However, for health, unfortunately, my GSD suffers with allergies which has been pain. My vet gives her monthly shots but I wish she didn't have allergies because the shots are not cheap! Overall, GSD are great dogs but do require a lot of training and effort on our part as owners. My GSD is very affectionate and protective. I didn't realize the herding traits come out on our daily walks.
I also had a GSD who had severe allergies. If they are food based switching to a raw diet is so beneficial, mine had allergies to pork chicken and beef. He also suffered with yeast infections which meant no veggies or fruits apart from broccoli cauliflower and celery. Amd absolutely nothing grain like. My poor baby I loved him dearly but life was a struggle for him. I done my best RIP Alfie ❤️
1:19 drop any chicken products from your Shepherds diet. Especially Chicken meal, will drop most itching, I have found most Shepherds are sensitive to Chicken.
I have a half GSD who came from the short-haired line. He has semi-floppy ears and an almost entirely tan coat, but otherwise received all these GSD traits. He's been fiercely protective since the first week I got him, adores my friends and family but will give every stranger an ear full until they prove friendly, always has lots of words to say, HATES being alone, always knows 10 minutes before if I'm about to leave and starts whining and pacing, sheds a ton, and absolutely demands morning cuddles, belly scratches, and daily doses of affection. He's adorable, but it's definitely not the kind of breed you want if you have to leave them alone most of the time.
Sounds like our GSD! She’s definitely my little shadow and demands plenty of attention and scratches in the mornings and again in the afternoon. Thankfully, I work from home, so she gets plenty of quality time with her human.

Got one from the pound. I work on houses. Mine come to work with me and he likes to sit on the porch with a long tether on. Since I've had him I haven't lost any tools. He guards the tools and materials quite well. I can leave circular saws, drills, tool bags, or whatever right in the front yard. As soon as some crackhead comes on the property that German Shepard goes ape shit. I'll go outside and ask what do you want and the crackhead will just say he was needing directions or some other baloney. Damm good guard dog.
I have 2 young all black straight back GSDs. One is a Czech Working line long coat and the other is a medium coat American Working line. Luckily both are clear for Denegerative Myelopathy, hip dysplasia and several other hereditary issues by descent. Good breeding is essential.
Our GSD, Jett, was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy at age 7, which paralyzed him. There is no cure and it's pretty common in larger breeds but we had never heard of it so didn't think to have him checked for it before buying. With physical therapy, he hung on for about 13 months, but we had to have him put down at age 9.
it is in the genes, you can do dna test to see if they have that marker. has to have both sets for DM to occur, we lost a beautiful male at 5 years old. there is nothing that you can do.
I had a shepherd mix. She guarded me her whole life. She’d sleep with me or across the threshold of my bedroom. She would give the stink eye to strangers. But she never was aggressive at all. Chewy is an understatement. My mom was scared she’d be knocked down. I taught Darcy to never jump up. For this reason my mom learned to love her. My one pet peeve was her carrying her food bowl to the bedroom to eat. She broke so many bowls. I had to go get plastic. Then she chewed those up. Different bowl, stainless steel this time. Lord she was smart. She was active. She was so bonded to me that I was at our beach house and I was packing. I put her on the front deck. My brother said she’s not letting you leave without you. She’d gone down the stairs and back up the stairs to the back deck so she could see me through the back door glass. She was so bonded but I trained her not to freak out. Separation anxiety is a real thing. She did not have health issues. The was on glucosamine as a preventative. But she didn’t get arthritis until about 13. I had to put her down at 15 due to a possible stroke. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. Do not get a gsd unless you have the time to exercise, feed, brush and train one. They do have to be socialized. I had toy poodles and they helped train her with me. I had a cat as well. Be patient and socialize the GSD.
I've had two relatively uncommon German Shepherd hybrids a wolf and a coyote and in both cases they were the most amazing dogs in the world the wolf was when my children were little and there is no better babysitter in the world when they were in the backyard cuz nobody could even walk past events without him alerting I'm glad we didn't have the coyote when the kids were little because he's very much did not like children but he was the best friend I've ever had in my life he was my puppy love I couldn't cry without him knowing me and I would never have traded either of them for anything in the world I currently have a pitbull bulldog mix and he is the biggest dumbest sweetest most Puppia six-year-old you ever seen but he's nothing compared to those two
Very cool video but when I came to watch this I thought you were going to tell some unknown secrets about them and you reasured me at the start. But nothing you said really matched the ''NOBODY TELLS YOU ABOUT'' title.
My Rocky is 2 and is way smarter than me. Not even a good trainer and he is so obedient. What a handful.......he and I are glued at the hip. though I think it has something to do with food falling off of me
If you get a GSD get two. Preferably a littermate. They will have a friend they have always known to interact with when you are away and they actually get into less mischief.
@@darkroom.rosebloom as a random person on the internet i assure you pitbulls aren’t inherently evil, they are just steryotyped so bad like to be honest pugs are more aggressive

I spend the better part of an hour twice a week to brush my GSD. ESPECIALLY with how hot it's been in the US this summer. She nibbles on my hands/arms when I roll her over on her back to brush her chest and belly to remove hair. Then give her a cold bath. She is the sweetest booboo ever. She sits at the foot of my chair every night and I use her as a foot rest
My mix GSD female Ruby Tuesday passed last Dec 3 at 12+ years. I am disabled and she got me going out and walking to my huge park one block away and coffee shops and going downtown and doing stuff I took her everywhere with tags I went. She was a rescue and she was very happy with me as I was with her I Decided to get a new German shepherd female dog pure bred at 2 months old she was when I took her home she is now 10month her name is mochaccino for short mocha. I just got a German Shepard puppy she’s 7 weeks rn and she chews on everything! But the worst thing is it’s almost impossible to train her to go potty outside so I need help with tips on trying to do that.

NOT KIBBLE JUNK.
I have a GSP, and he gets into mischief. At 11-monrhs, he has binded with a woman I know. He is extremely loyal to me. He is egotistical and prideful, he is also a follower, where ever I go, he is always following me around. I can't give him a shower or bath. But, if I'm in the shower, he wants to join me. He has tied me up in his chain , and pulled me down and dragged me across the yard, tied up in his chain. He loves cooler weather, it's like a to him. He has a triple coat. He is very protective of me and hates other GSP or GS.
The sloping bit seems to be a bit off the nose - sloping comes from show breed lineage, and if you get a proper working dog breed that doesn't have the assinine hind quarters sloping, you will have significantly less issues as far as hip displasia goes since their hips aren't fucked up for now reason.
Sir I am not opposing you,, but our Indian dog are also very much loyal and can sacrifice his or her life for the master,, I have explained it twice in my life,, my grandfather's Desi Dog had saved him from a Poisonous snake and my Indian dog saved me and my mother from falling in a big Hole which wasn't visible..
Some breeds are better than others at being left alone. I wouldn't say don't get a dog, just research which dog is fine being left alone. Such as a lab mix or others...
Ha Ha! Great name...made me laugh. I currently get anywhere from a baseball to larger fur ball off him EVERY day when I use the deshedder on him. He's my fifth German Shedder so I've got no brains, just love for the breed.
I've owned many breeds of dogs over the years, but none compare to my German Shephara truly magnificent animal, and cootoes to the friend who gave him to me.
It's only common knowledge for people familiar with German Shepherds. But someone new to getting one may not know this information if they never had a dog, much less a German shepherd.

When I do get German shepherd all these videos. I've seen on German shepherds. They're the best ever.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
6:44 very true about walking on the wrong way
My Rocky is 2 and is way smarter than me. Not even a good trainer and he is so obedient. What a handful.......he and I are glued at the hip. though I think it has something to do with food falling off of me
My dog Bruce is part German Shepherd and he follows my dad around every where and likes to mouth on things.
I love my gremen shepherd but i should of named him hell boy i got him from a shelter hes the best thing in my life my best friend
This was lovely to watch..
Thats why I get bit around the ankles 😂
GSDs don't shed... they molt... in large clumps... big enough to make another dog!
But ya still gotta love 'em.
My GSD is the police at the dog playing ground, thats also typical GSD 👌🏼😁
If you get a GSD get two. Preferably a littermate. They will have a friend they have always known to interact with when you are away and they actually get into less mischief.
Please make a video about pitbulls. Things to know before getting a pitbull
Things to know before getting a pit bull: don’t do it.
@@darkroom.rosebloom as a random person on the internet i assure you pitbulls aren’t inherently evil, they are just steryotyped so bad like to be honest pugs are more aggressive
@@darkroom.rosebloom i've owned my pitbull for the last 5-6 years and it is the greatest thing i've ever done, raise it well
@@The_hampster I knew a girl that sounded like you. She had her sweet pit bull for 5 years until one day it mauled her. She got it to stop at some point but needed a couple surgeries.
It's true. gsd can understand our language because I feel it. One morning I am joking with my puppy I will sell you then he was crying and start licking and if I am saying 'if you are going outside without my permission I won't let you go then he come back to me I love him.
I know I am on my 6th German Shepherd!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤💙💜👍👍💪💪🦾🦾

Yes they are very smart almost to smart
I Have German shepherd
I spend the better part of an hour twice a week to brush my GSD. ESPECIALLY with how hot it's been in the US this summer. She nibbles on my hands/arms when I roll her over on her back to brush her chest and belly to remove hair. Then give her a cold bath. She is the sweetest booboo ever. She sits at the foot of my chair every night and I use her as a foot rest
GSD, Jack was a truly remarkable and affectionate, loving pet. Will love him forever.
You'll never be alone again 😀
They'll steal your hearth.
Stay away while you still can.
😆
My mix GSD female Ruby Tuesday passed last Dec 3 at 12+ years. I am disabled and she got me going out and walking to my huge park one block away and coffee shops and going downtown and doing stuff I took her everywhere with tags I went. She was a rescue and she was very happy with me as I was with her
I Decided to get a new German shepherd female dog pure bred at 2 months old she was when I took her home she is now 10month her name is mochaccino for short mocha. She does not like going outside to the park or walking around the city she's does not like all the noise and all people the good thing is she's not dangerous I would like to take her out more I started cutting back to one day then 2 day to 3 days so on she's getting bette but still a uphill battle I would advice on this how to get her to be happier out. Doctors wanted to drug her at 4 months old I did for a week and did not like the outcome this is why I'm asking
The BEST doggies
If u really want a good dog with high energy try Mal x hybrid but only if you are very active and a lot of time they will be fun to work with.
Nice! Your videos should be seen by more viewers. May I repost your channel without changing anything on the clean platform named Gan Jing World? Thank you!
A friend of mine had a German shepherd only it was black and red he was a lovely dog only he had too re-home him witch was a pity as the dog liked me and my brother but he wasn't too keen on my friend and he's kid's
Max Emil Friedrich von Stephanitz, took some wolf like dogs he saw around, and glorified himself with this achievement. The german sheperd. A wolf without problems - to humans. A wolf improved. Entirely benign.
No all your training shouldnt be based on positive reinforcement and no that doesnt mean I abuse my dog
oh thats true, we got our 3rd one, i wont miss her
have 3
I just got a German Shepard puppy she’s 7 weeks rn and she chews on everything! But the worst thing is it’s almost impossible to train her to go potty outside so I need help with tips on trying to do that.
I need same tips too. Anyone to the rescue?
Take her out every hour for 15 mins
Ditto all below our 4 yr old is like a son to us and we are bonded like superglue. please do not get a GSD unless you can bond with them and give them the training and exercise they need they are exceptionally high drive and not only need constant love and affection but good food as well. NOT KIBBLE JUNK.
I have 3 gsd
any way to avoid or check for hip dysplasia or hind knees before buying
@@sissybuku6973 Best to research breeders. The internet is a valuable tool for this.
GSD is outside dog, make him/her a dog house with his own pice of the yard big enough for the dog to run around (not a cage) and no vet is necessary 😊
Two things I've experienced with GSD's is degenerative neuropathy of the spine and hemangiosarcoma which is an aggressive form of cancer.
Try Fry
i guess this is sorta accurate ??? i have a german shepard mix idk if that factors into this
My dog omigosh he even turned the the water like thing on
Can we get the same video but about pug? 🥰
I love my 3 different personality all 3 weard
What does THIS say about the german character?
Watch hudson and Rex! so cute!
I live with three .
if i am at school like 6-7 h , will he be anxious? i think i shouldn"t get a dog, i"m not good enough for this!
Some breeds are better than others at being left alone. I wouldn't say don't get a dog, just research which dog is fine being left alone. Such as a lab mix or others...
🐾🐾🐾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
German Shedder
Ha Ha! Great name...made me laugh. I currently get anywhere from a baseball to larger fur ball off him EVERY day when I use the deshedder on him. He's my fifth German Shedder so I've got no brains, just love for the breed.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Newspaper? It's 2022 😁
I just realized the narrator of this video sounds very similar to the actors who voices the Simpson character Troy McClure lol
I've owned many breeds of dogs over the years, but none compare to my German Shephara truly magnificent animal, and cootoes to the friend who gave him to me.
For me
Unmentioned in the video: German Shepherd's are also susceptible to a disease known as "pannus" which affects the eyes.
German Shepherds > there is no substitute
Not sure why this is titled things NOBODY tells you about. This sounds like common knowledge for most part.
It's only common knowledge for people familiar with German Shepherds. But someone new to getting one may not know this information if they never had a dog, much less a German shepherd.
I have a panda German Shepherd she has a really thick hair
