Removing the polarizer from an LCD screen

  • So I wanted to build an SLA LCD 3d printer. I've found this great 12" 4K monitor with a control board (product id NV125QUM-N81) but the polarizers are very aggressive and cut off all the UV light, so I tried to remove both polarizers hoping to find a replacement somewhere (any suggestion?).
I don't know how... but I've been successful in this very delicate endeavor and since I documented the whole process I wanted to share it with you. Please bear in mind that I'm no expert, there's probably a better way of doing it but this is what worked for me!
    Cheers!

Awesome tutorial. One question, is it possible to detach the TFT matrix panel from the LCD and RGB color filter matrix? maybe using a heat gun or any chemical. I need to work with the TFT panel for a project. Thank you!

Hi, will the monitor display normally if we remove the sticker-type black film behind the front LCD panel? My monitor's film has shaded and there is some kind of white ghost coating where this film has shaded out it's color.

Did you ever find a proper polarizer for your SLA printer? My Elegoo Saturn printer has a scratch on it which is causing failed prints. I believe it's just the polarizer that's damaged, so I was wondering what spec of polarizer I could replace.

I would like to renew the Polarizer film on my 27 "Asus PG278Q, now I have seen that there are three versions, once with 0 degrees / once with 45 degrees and once with 90 degrees. What do the various degrees numbers mean, can I use all of these polarizer films, or do I need a certain degree number for my monitor? Thank you in advance!

1:30 is kind of interesting; you (working on a computer) could wear polarizing glasses, and everyone else in the room (without polarizing glasses) wouldn't be able to see what is displayed on your screen!

Hey have some sort of plastic cover on the screen of my Sony Bravia 2015 model, it turns out that some ugly lines appeared on my tv and it was that plastic, I'm removing the plastic now and it seems that it has no effect in the image but a really strong smell is coming out, it smells like burned plastic or something.
Is it dangerous or do you guys know anything about it?
