    Hot water works also. Just put the end in boiling water till the end is as soft as you need it. Doesn't take long.

    If using a heat gun, I would do that outside and DO NOT breath the fumes. Hydroponics DIY'ers have been doing something like this for years. Better than getting a major headache trying to find a fitting that works, nice job..

      We used to heat PVC up years ago with a torch! This is probably a little safer, glad to help out. Thank you for stopping by much appreciated!

    Are you sure that is 1 1/2"? Looks like 2 1/2"
