What a legend. This guy is responsible for some much of the original chaos Demons and it’s just a small part of his portfolio.
Ian Miller, Tony Ackland, Martin McKenna and John Blanche. They are my favourite fantasy artists as a kid growing up in the late 80s. And together these 4 really created the aesthetics of early Warhammer Fantasy, particularly the Enemy Within campaign. I love their art. Sad to hear of McKenna taking his own life last year.
Sad news indeed. But Ian is still creating and going strong.
Amazing artist Mr Miller, never ceased to inspire me ever since childhood. I find it quite intimidating to put pencil to paper when I think of the works of Ian Miller, John Blanche and many others, because I feel i do not have the drive and dedication to create images of such fantastic beauty. So it was rather jarring to hear him say he finds drawing hard!!!
He also said just do it and don't think about it. I found it inspiring that he stopped throwing things away. I guess it true that the only mistakes are the ones you don't learn from.
He is a remarkable artist. His latest works are both challenging and VERY cool.
I have always loved the art of Ian Miller, i loved watching this video interview .
Miller's work was one of the main reasons I got into Warhammer in the 80s. It just provokes so much thought and emotion! Eagerly waiting for his Grim Tarrock to arrive

I remember his work on a few Ray Bradbury pocket book covers when I was much younger and marvelled at the details.
Huge fan ever since seeing his work as a kid in Magic the Gathering and Tolkein books from mid 90s !
I've been a fan of Ralph Bakshi's wizards since I was 5 (circa 1989), and loved the backgrounds, then a few months later, the same Aunt who introduced me to Bakshi and was a huge Tolkien fan introduced me to Tolkien and her copy of A Tolkien Bestiary by David Day which has some of Ian's most amazing work...although his style is completely different, he reminds me of Alex Grey in that his style is utterly unique and completely unlike anything else in existence... If Ian Miller did Tattoos, I'd want him to cover all my appendages
I am sure he has created tattoos. How big an appendage may be the issue. Thanks for watching.
As someone who has practiced traditional art on a very technical standpoint for at least 13 years, this man is intimidating as all hell.
But as he says. Just pick up your pen and keep drawing.
Since the early 80s, he's been one of my faves.

This guy represents a level of creativity and complexity which no longer seems to be present in modern fantasy. His work along side that of John Blanche gifted Games Workshop an appeal which has been replaced by CAD and a stolen World of Warcraft aesthetic. I wish I could find a modern-day alternative.

All his work is unique. His latest Abstract stuff is out there.
His art, imagination is what got me hooked on the Fighting Fantasy book series and then later WH40k. Now i realise I could have done without the other junk and just collected his work. I'm still struck by the originality of his interpretations of worn out fantasy tropes.
His latest work is also pushing the boundaries. He refuses to stop creating new and exciting work.

Helpful interview indeed! I have never seen an Ian Miller interview before, didn't know it was pronounced EEH-AN and not I-AN, and also had no idea what he looked like. I have been amazed by his breathtaking creativity and attention to detail since early childhood.

I don't know if it's him, but if it's him, I met him on his yt channel or on someone else's channel where he makes bizarre animations.

Captain Tardagrade was really odd. Very entertaining.
He looks a lot like the people he draws
But he is a lot more congenial.
