God never wanted to favor the Pharaoh in any way. The pharaoh tricked, hated, and looked down on the people of God. So God returned the favor: hardened his heart, killed his firstborn, made him look like a fool in front of his power and God treated pharaoh like a weak peasant. All to show the people of Israel that God aint nothing to **** with.
There is now a new mockery waiting to happen. Daca and immigrants escaping from their own lands which the usa has all affected one way or another. Will God treat the USA like pharaoh or like the King who was given mercy? I just got through genesis with your bible plan and I'm getting more out of the bible than I have before. It's only the first book, but the stories just popped out to me and came to life. I could see some of these in my mind. At times, I would be in shock. At other times, I would laugh because of something I found amusing. Some parts, I didn't completely enjoy or understand, but as a whole, I got a lot more out of Genesis than before. It's my first time reading through Genesis completely and I'm glad that I made it through. I didn't read everyday, but I caught up the next day by reading (or listening because I use audio too) both days passages. I'm actually excited to go to Exodus. Your videos help me understand what's going on and they help bring the bible to life. Thank you for all your hard work and keep it up. I hope to finish the bible with this plan by the end of the year. God bless.

You should dig even deeper. Each story there is a picture or type of Christ. For example: Abraham sent his servant to find a bride for his son Isaac to inherit all things. God sent the holy spirit to find a bride to Jesus to inherit all things. Joseph’s whole life is a type of Christ. For example while he was in jail the two men had a dream about bread and wine and Joseph said to them “Remember me.” Hmm

Just finished reading Exodus completely, for the first time, and thought I'd watch this to solidify what I read.
While watching this, when it got to the Passover part, I was reminded of the sequence of events that took place before Christ's crucifixion (probably because I'm also reading Matthew right now) during Passover. And how Christ was the spotless Lamb just like the spotless lamb in Egypt and how the blood protected them. Just like Christ's blood was shed for our sins and His righteousness imputed on us.
Sorry if this is confusing... But I just now made that parallel thanks to the Holy Spirit. Even though I've heard about the story of the Israelites in Egypt countless times, this is the first time I've truly made the parallel of the Passover then (Old Testament) and the lamb to the one in Matthew right before Christ's death.
God Bless and thank you for your videos!!

If Christ's righteousness is being or can be inputted into us, can I say sin can also be inputted into someone according to Psalm 32?
So then why do we always blame Judas who played his roles in the process of saving mankind?

when I read it the first time I was confused about God hardening Pharaoh's heart. I thought why would God want Pharaoh to resist and be so cruel? Looking at it closely does show that Pharaoh's heart was already hardened, it's that God wanted the Israelites to see His glory and grow many others faith. I'm sure He even touched a few Egyptians.

Good point! God hardening Pharaoh's heart is tough for some to swallow, but I believe God in His knowledge allows for the foolishness of humans to work in His Will and/or His Will includes the evil done (from our free will) to bring the divine results that He meant to come at a designated time and location. Thank you for the comment.

If god is already all-knowing, he has no purpose in hardening the pharoah's heart. He's doing something that not only is akin to torture, but is also pointless. Thus your point is moot.

As is your point about 'free will'. If god is taking the free will from somebody to twist your arm and force you into a biased on unqualified position, that's not free will. If I ask you and your friend a yes-no question with a designed answer, your friend answers wrong, I pull out a gun and shoot him and ask you for your answer, you no longer have 'free will' which is to say you no longer have the will to act as you would normally because I'm removing a choice entirely.

      @sirob1193 5 років тому +8

mia bobby Yes but the problem is that Human Sacrifice is Unbiblical in Judaism because No man can die for the sins of others.
In Exodus 32: Moses tries to offer himself as an atonement for the sins of the People, by being written 'out of Thy book which Thou has written.' To be written out of God’s book means to be written out of the Book of Life; therefore Moses is asking to die for the sins of the Israelites for worshipping the golden calf.
God’s response No because each man dies for his own sin:
“...And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the Lord; perhaps I shall make an atonement for your sin. And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin...and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the Lord God said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them. And the Lord God plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.” Exodus 32:30-35
The point is clearly made in Deuteronomy 24:16, where it explicitly says that no one can die for the sins of another:
“...The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the father. Every man shall be put to death for his own sin.”
      Deuteronomy 24:16
The whole of Chapter 18 of the Book of Ezekiel clarifies this principle. Furthermore, the chapter teaches that all we have to do to gain Gods forgiveness to stop doing the Bad and start doing the Good. Nowhere does it say that we must have a blood sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins.
In Deuteronomy 12 God calls human sacrifice something that He hates; an abomination.
“....Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God : for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.”Deuteronomy 12:30-31
In Jeremiah 19, God says that Human sacrifice is So horrible that it did not even come into Gods will.
“...Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents; They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spoke it, neither came it into my mind: Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but The Valley of Slaughter.” Jeremiah 19:4-6

    • @sirob1193
      @sirob1193 5 років тому +1

elkellenhabla The Gd-man relationship was never limited to animal sacrifices, nor was it ever the only means by which a human being obtained forgiveness from Gd for wrongdoing.
The reason is that the Bible makes it explicitly clear that Gd had given us other means for obtaining forgiveness.
Its abstaining from eating or drinking the blood of a sacrifice, commanded from Gd in order to maintain the distinction between the Jewish people and the pagans. Most pagans ate the blood of their sacrifices as a means of incorporating their gods into their bodies and into their lives. Perhaps this is the source of the Christian rite of communion. But the holiness of the People of Israel requires them to abhor the pagan ways and not to hold the same beliefs as their pagan neighbors.
In Leviticus 17 is clearly says that
“Any Israelite or any alien living among them who eats any blood -- I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from his people. For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life. Therefore I say to the Israelites, `None of you may eat blood, nor may an alien living among you eat blood. Any Israelite or any alien living among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth, because the life of every creature is its blood.' That is why I have said to the Israelites, `You must not eat the blood of any creature, because the life of every creature is its blood; anyone who eats it must be cut off.”
There are many examples in the Hebrew scriptures where other things besides blood can atone for sins. If you are poor and unable to afford a blood sacrifice, Gd allows you to use flour, which is not from an animal and therefore has no blood. If the poor were not able to offer a sacrifice of flour, forgiveness would only be for the wealthy -- but Gd would never exclude humans from obtaining forgiveness on the basis of wealth:
      Leviticus 5:11-13
So here, in the middle of the commandments concerning the sacrifices for sin, the Bible tells us we do not need any blood sacrifice. This is clear, unambiguous proof; any claim to the contrary is unbiblical and some would say antibiblical.
In book of Jonah. He tried to escape from doing Gd's will regarding the people of the city of Niniveh. After the incident of the great fish, he goes to Niniveh, says five words to the people, and what do they do? They fast:
“Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water”Jonah 3:7
just as Jews do on Yom Kippur. In addition to fasting, the inhabitants of the city also prayed:
‘Let them cry mightily to Gd’
      Jonah 3:8
just as Jews do on Yom Kippur. And, finally, the people of the city stopped doing Evil and began doing Good:
“Let everyone turn from his evil ways and from the violence which is in his hands.” Jonah 3:8

elkellenhabla In Isaiah 53:5, the text is Mistranslated as 'But he was wounded FOR our transgressions, he was bruised FOR our iniquities.' The mistake is that the prefix to the words meaning 'our transgressions' and 'our iniquities' is the Hebrew letter מ (Mem). This is a prepositional prefix meaning 'from' and not 'for.' A more accurate translation would be, 'But he was wounded FROM our transgressions, he was bruised FROM our iniquities.' This means that Isaiah 53 is not talking about a man who died 'for our sins,' but rather it is about a man who died 'BECAUSE of our sins,' or 'AS A RESULT of our sins.' In other words, they(Assyrians/Babylonians) died because we sinned against them by murdering them because the sins committed against the Jews by the nations of the earth resulted in the death of countless innocent Jews.

      @@JavyM Dear Javier M.
      That's a very interestig question.
I think the text for me is also not tó clear. This little piece of text looks very simillar to another previous story of the Bible.
I'am sure you have read the story when Jacob was fighting with God.
After the fight his name became Israel.
Jacob had a lot of fear on that night because his brother.
But after this battle he got a blessing from the Lord.
So we read Moses also had a lot of fear.
But meanwhile he forgott to make the sign of the Covenant on his son.
How can he be a good leader for Israel if in his family doesn't have any signs of good relationship with God?
And this little failure (the "vorskin problem") could causes a bad reputation for Moses among the people of Israel.
      This is my opinion.
But i also hope it can help you.!
      Respectfully yours

“Their land is also full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.” (Isaiah 2:8)
      Words By: Father
"Exodus means a mass departure. But a departure of what? For the Israelites it was a departure from Egypt to the promised land. But is it really a departure if the soul carries the Egypt heart? You can remove the people out of Egypt but it’s different moving Egypt out of the heart of man which is why the Israelites encountered the many troubles. The golden calf was just a fruit of their idolatry and an expression of their idol worship. The Church still carries this same attitude. It is the heart of idolatry by serving two masters - Me and the gods that please themselves. Cares of the world, deceitfulness of riches and lust of other things has become the modern day golden image and indeed many have given their hearts over to these idols and end up doing what Aaron did. Now it wasn’t that Aaron didn’t love Me, however complacency was in his heart and he ended up doing what all complacent people do - denying Me for the temporary.
I have called you out of the world and into My kingdom; but not to bring the world into My kingdom. I am not saying that you cannot desire things. But if the desire owns your heart and you cannot seem to live without it because you feel compelled to have it, then you must consider what it is that you are worshipping. These are desires you must let go of if you want to reach the promise land. You should never look back and think, “The world is also full of silver and gold and there is no end to their treasures.” If I have shown you the path, given you the miracles and offered you a kingdom, then what in Egypt could you possibly want? Cast your cares at My feet, remain faithful to My voice and I will be faithful to meet your every need."

Just a bit of wisdom to everyone: the videos are great and on point with the bible. However, don't just use the videos as your primary source, the Bible should be everyone's sources. (As the people in Bible Project using the Bible for their videos.) If you receive a message whether from a person, a video, or even from documents about the passages in the Bible, always check the Bible itself for yourself.
Example would be the mention of Pharaoh's hardened heart. I never realized that it was both Pharaoh and God doing this. I thought God hardened Pharaoh's heart throughout the plagues. So I decided to look through the bible myself, and indeed I was corrected. Double checking for yourself not only give you insight, but also conformation. Not only conformation about your own faith and beliefs, but conforming what the secondary source presented.

    • @TheSebastianfan
      @TheSebastianfan 7 років тому +1

Sorry for the misread on "Hardened Heart", I realized that could be misinterpreted. But I'm referring during the plagues. I was merely using it as an example about looking up stuff for ourselves if we hear something we are unsure about.

We have to be careful when trying to interpret the scriptures, sometimes there's a tendency for us to try and not make God look bad. But the truth is that, He is sovereign, He can do as He pleases, take the bible the way it is and don't try to humanize it or try to reason it out. In Exodus 4:21, Moses has not even come in contact with Pharaoh before God told Moses I will harden Pharaoh's heart so that he doesn't let my people go.
In Exodus 9:16 we can see the original plan of God, His main intent of hardening Pharaoh's heart was because He wanted to make His power known to all the world. Romans 9:22 says, What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath-prepared for destruction?
Pharaoh was an object of God's wrath, Yes, the same way He has objects of mercy, He also has objects of wrath, He is God, He is allowed to.
In conclusion, Romans 9:18 confirms, that God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy on and hardens whom He wants to harden. And that again is because He is sovereign, He can do as He pleases.

Ndifreke Etoedia i get what you’re saying, and i highly agree with you. I was referring to not just believe in the words of 1 person. Gather information from other places, but most importantly the bible because that should be everyone’s primary source. If someone is given a passage, always double check that the passage being presented is used correctly.

    • @TheSebastianfan

Ndifreke Etoedia in addition, im highly aware of those particular scriptures as well. Especially when some of my close friends did a bible discussion on this. And i totally agree with you.
God is Sovereign, and we have no say in any matter on what He is doing. We are after all his creations, and the creator has every right to use us for His purpose and glory.

I love your videos and I was wondering if you all would ever consider doing a informative video about the geography in the bible as well as the division of ethnic groups after the flood. I find the genealogy in the bible really interesting and how a lot of it is getting closer towards Jesus. I also have a passion about the study of ethnicities, genetics and race(social construct) for example how Kemet (Egypt) are descendants of Ham on of the sons of Noah and just north of Upper Egypt (imagine the African continent upside down this is how Egypt and many african countries viewed themselves) were the Nubian people. I was also wondering about the different characters in the bible who were not Isralites such as Ruth.

T.uYI -KANA Deuteronomy 28 says the real tribe of Judah would go into slavery by ships into a spiritual Egypt, (400 years bondage)
this is the trans-atlantic slave trade to America
      Zephaniah 3:10
From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering
(Beyond Ethiopia is Central and West Africa)
also notice how Paul was mistaken for a black African
      Acts 21:38
"Then you are not the Egyptian who some time ago stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?" 39But Paul said, "I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city; and I beg you, allow me to speak to the people."
the real fact of the matter is the children of the trans-atlantic and trans-saharan slave trade were the Israelites, Josephus writes about this and also the book "From Babylon to TImbuktu" and "Hebrewisms of West Africa"

I love the Bible Project. The synopsis of portions of scripture are presented clearly and help give insight to God's word. I do have one criticism of the opening to the Exodus tale. The Evil of Pharaoh was not only the killing of the Israelite baby boys, but also the oppression via slavery of a group of people solely out of a feeling that he was entitled to oppress them. Slavery whether to sin, our current lot because of the fall, or practiced as an oppressive act is evidence of evil.

So I am watching this and it’s helping because I have been feeling like it’s hard for me to connect with god lately. I remember the spiritual feeling I had as a kid I remember when I was saved. I remember the feeling I use to get when I connected with The Lord. I have tried to approach him through prayer not asking for anything but just the connection I felt I once had. I pray every day now. I’m 24 and I feel like from ages 16-21 I stopped working on my relationship with Christ and now I deeply regret it because it’s hard to get back to where I was spiritually and I have a family now. I obviously believe in God. I have faith in his plan for me. I pray to him for things I need and just to give thanks for the blessings I do have. Please pray for me if you feel you may have some helpful words please share.

Hebrew is a language based on concepts so sometimes translations can be off. a better translation is that God made Pharoh's heart heavy. In Egyptian mythology when you died your heart would be weighed and if it was lighter than a bird's feather you would be allowed into the afterlife. If your heart was heavier than the feather your heart and soul would be devoured by hell hounds. This makes sense since the Pharoh's heart was only affected after his son died. (I learned this in a lesson from Light of Menorah Ministries.)

Thank you! Yes, I completely agree.
I do not believe that God would ever harden anyone's heart. That is not in His character. I think this is a mistranslation, or a trick of the language. But it's contradictory to say at first he gave Pharoah a chance to then later make Pharaoh more evil.

    • @blackjay5338

      @@neurodivergentdad thanks for the reference.
I start with a fundamental principle that all humans are children of God with free agency, or the power to choose and make decisions for themselves. This includes Pharoah. None of us are pre-destined to exaltation or damnation. And we're not tools of God's by nature - only we can make ourselves a tool through humble submission.
Pharoah may have made choices in his life which hardened his heart by the course of natural and spiritual laws - laws created by God.
I can't read these verses literally because they contradict what I hold to be a fundamental truth about human nature. I think if you take every scripture literally you'll run into lot of contradictions.
      Peace.

He was, but he died in Egypt. Gen chapter 50 records Joseph going before Pharaoh asking to return to Canaan to bury Jacob and Pharaoh dispatches a royal contingent to allow this to happen. In the ancient world, military escorts were commonplace as pirates and bandits roamed the land and waterways, not to mention those who simply hated people of a certain nationality / descent.

    • @sirob1193

mill529 Jacob Died in Egypt but had a grave dug in Canaan, so Joseph asked the O’hare to go and bury Jacob there.
      Genesis 50:4-13
4When the days of his weeping had passed, Joseph spoke to Pharaoh's household, saying, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, speak now in Pharaoh's ears, saying,
5'My father adjured me, saying, "Behold, I am going to die. In my grave, which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me." So now, please let me go up and bury my father and return.' "
6And Pharaoh said, "Go up and bury your father as he adjured you."
7So Joseph went up to bury his father, and all Pharaoh's servants, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt went up with him,
8and Joseph's entire household and his brothers and his father's household; only their young children and their flocks and cattle did they leave in the land of Goshen.
9And chariots and horsemen also went up with him, and the camp was very numerous.
10And they came to the threshing floor of the thornbushes, which is on the other side of the Jordan, and there they conducted a very great and impressive eulogy, and he made for his father a mourning of seven days.
11The Canaanite[s], the inhabitant[s] of the land, saw the mourning at the threshing floor of the thornbushes, and they said, "This is an intense mourning for the Egyptians." Therefore, they named it Abel Mizraim (Egypt mourns), which is on the other side of the Jordan.
12And his sons did to him just as he had commanded them.
13And his sons carried him to the land of Canaan, and they buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which field Abraham had bought for burial property from Ephron the Hittite before Mamre.

OMG no one ever talks about Aaron during the first part of Exodus. Why don't people talk about him? That's like leaving out Chewbacca when you're talking about the adventures of Han Solo. You can't leave out Chewbacca!

If the Coptic Christians are the descendants of Pharaoh, how do they teach Exodus? It seems like a conflict of interests.

God bless you. All praises to Elohim for the clarity in your videos. There was little emphasis, but Christ's role as the Passover lamb was made clear. Amen. Thank Jesus for sparing all those little lambs and us.
