Thanks Brett, I like the old school thing. Most of us don't have those new, fancy, highfalutin, 3D Printers that everyone is going on about, lol. See you on the next one, model on dude!
Excellent update my friend the Sherman is coming along nicely the scratch building is amazing especially the light guards and toe cables look forward to seeing it painted thanks for sharing and stay safe 👍🙏
After a ten years break, I'm back into modeling. I remember having finished an old Tamiya Sherman, and it was really fun to build. Next one will be this one, thanks to you !
Very cool! Thanks so much Eldem, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment, means a lot my friend! I highly recommend Tamiya kits for both beginners and those, like you, coming back into the hobby after not building for a while, you'll love this kit, fit is great. Good luck on your build, have fun with it. Take care and model on! Johnny
Superb, I would never have thought of making the tow cable ends like that. I have this kit in my stash and can't wait to build it. Looking forward to the next video.
Thank you for sharing this cool build. The sponson block off plates are a really helpfull tip. As far as improving this already good kit, it is my understanding that there should also be a cast , thickened armored cheek on the forward starboard front side of turret.
@@hillbillymodeling You're welcome. It's always a pleasure to look at somebody who masters tools and matters On another channel i seen an interesting tip to get the rough surface aspect of armour plates(1)and casted parts; the guy mixes Tamya grey putty with a very thin cement to get a texture like a slightly thick paint and a applies it with a brush(2) in small strokes. The result is amazing. (1)surprisingly even flat armour plates have a rough surface, and the welding seams don't rust. (2)with short and stiff hairs, i don't know the specific name in english
You actually are building old school love it. Today's kits give you everything from photo etch parts to complete interiors. To tell the truth I like the scratch building it actually takes book knowledge of the vehicle then making the parts. My favorite one is building Tamiya's old pz II kit. Making it a viable kit for today. Anyway great job.
You are right Clayton, today's kits give you everything except imagination. That tends to leave us with a lot of clone builds, lol. But that's ok too, we each like different things. I tend to be attracted to the older kits myself for that very reason. I'm more of a builder than a painter, but I'm working on the painting and weathering part! I could talk about modeling philosophy for hours, but the real take away is that we all have our own style of building and even the new kits give us opportunities to express our vision of what a kit should be. Thanks so much for the great comment and for watching! See you in the next video, take care and model on my friend!!
Excellent build sequence Hillbilly! Some crucial details added to an already great kit. I also admire your skills on the lathe, you are the only guy that makes parts this way and your work is superb. Looking forward for the painting and weathering parts. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend.
Good to hear, I have a Zvezda Sherman M4A2 in my stash, but it will be a while before I get to it since I'm building the Tamiya now. Let me know how you like the Ferdinand. Thanks for watching the video bud! Model on.
Désolé, je n'ai pas pu regarder le direct.......mais, beau montage, belle réalisation, et aussi excellent travail de "Scratch" élingues, protection périscope, bonne continuation .................Fidèlement Lionel Provins France
I found it very easy to fill from the back and push the filler to the outside. It's just one approach, I'm sure your approach will work just as well. Thanks for watching.
Hi Douglas, I had to try and make all those guards alike, the little jig was very useful. Just be sure to control the CA glue, LOL. Thanks for watching, take care and model on. Johnny
Very nice old school scratch building, Hillbilly! Great update.

Thanks Nick, glad you like it. Model on my friend!
Great video, learned a few tricks here. I myself use a dremel to turn parts down its a bit quieter, lol. So the wife says.
Glad to help Bob, good tip for using a Dremel.

Thanks Donald, appreciate the tip my friend!
Looks great man! I know most people love the painting vids, but I'm completely different, I love build vids! Keep up the great work man!
Thanks Andrew77, to be honest I'm a builder myself, but learning the painting as I go. Thanks for watching!
Very nice detailing of the parts so far. Like the tow cables
Thanks David!
Great job on the periscopes guards, they are even better than the manufactured ones!
Thanks Zorg, happy you like them, I'm just a Hillbilly, but I try.

@@Zorglub1966 Some people also use Mr. Surfacer and stipple it with a brush to achieve similar results cast metal effects too.

Thanks Tim, glad you like the project so far. Model on my friend!

👍👍👍
Three thumbs up! That's a good rating! Thanks Jared.
I think in hind sight it would have been easier to do the fill work on the transmission cover before putting the final drive covers in place.
