Glad you enjoy it! We'll show more. You know, we're just doing our stuff. Once in a while, I get railroaded into something odd, but watch anyway, you never know when you'll find an old bike in a barn.
Just wanna say thanks for all that you do including camera man Mike! I don't know a thing about bikes, but picking up what I can with your videos...again thank you 👍
We have already done truing in previous videos (go to our UA-cam homepage and click on "videos."). But we're going to do alignment of the chassis as soon as it is back together and time permits.
Good video as always! I’m really looking forward to seeing you do the alignment on the Dyna, I’ve done it a couple times using my manual, but I would love to see how it should be done, how you do it! Thanks 😎
When my 2010 Dyna was new I noticed that the rear wheel was nearer the fender on one side that the other.... after reading the workshop manual about vehicle allignment I decided to lift the whole of the back end of the bike and loosen the engine mounts both front and rear. Then I checked the 'centrality' of the rear wheel in the fender and what do you konw - it was now central ! Just goes to show that things ain't always how they should be, I now have the Big Bear Performance mounts (same as the Chopper Haus ones) and have no problems with those pesky standard mounts - the handling has improved immeasurably and they don't seem to soften and sag/affect the handling like the OEM mounts which is good because that bike's motor now makes over 130 bhp and torque ! Any kind of rubber mount will degrade with time and it should be remembered that as the bike spends so much of it's time sitting on the jiffy stand, the mounts often deform more on one side than the other - theleft side front and rear mounts from my '06 Sportster were totally gone and did not look anything like a 'mirror image' of the other side, let alone like new ones and they were only 12 years old when I changed them !
Very well said. Thank you. My friend I worked with for years, and I, started doing chassis alignments on FXR's and FLT's back in the eighties and learned quite a bit watching the factory make its changes. We combined all of our findings and, for a long time, stayed up with the aftermarket developments for the rubber mount chassis. We'll see how much we improve this Dyna.
Would love to see you true the wheel on the bike, but if you can't life is what it is. Like always love your videos and injoyed the outdoors video kind of refreshing. Take care !
Hello sir, I will be watching your rubber mount motor alignment videos. I have an 85 FXRS that who knows what has been done to it. It seems to ride okay but I want to know that it is right. Thanks again Mike's for your time and your knowledge. Pat
Hi Mike. I"m going thru this process on a Softail build. Tried using the same hub you have in the video. Couldn't get the pulleys and belt to line up. After a bunch of headscratching I kinda figured out that Harley changed hub widths in 08. My swingarm is from an 04. The wheel is from an 08 Deluxe. Really nice too but don't fit. Thanks for the info on the spacers too. Always wondered what those lines are for.
Hi Mike thanks to you and camera man M looking at new tyres for my 2010 fatbob choice is between Avon and Dunlop any preference great video like it when you post on a Monday
I never really thought about truing/aligning the rear tire with the front tire and the frame, which makes a lot of sense. On a bike, compared to a car, what will the rider feel, if it’s a tad bit off, is it a slight pull, a wobble, a bounce or a little of them all? Thanks Mike !
When a bike is really aligned well, engine trans, primary, frame, wheels, axles, they're amazing, especially if the weight is distributed properly. Just a goal, but the better it gets, the more fun it is.
Hey Mike and Cameraman Mike. I met you up in Idyllwild in the summer of 2021. I hope you guys are going on the run that Biltwell is running in October to Kernville. You guys going to be any events anytime soon? Would love to meet up with you guys and talk. Take care, still loving the channel.
Hello Mike, I always enjoy watching your videos. I myself ride an Electra Glide Classic from 1996, so with the 1340'er Evo engine. On the announced video, in which you want to show the chassis checks and alignments of the rubber-mounted models, I am therefore already looking forward. But currently another thing drives me around. Recently I replaced the camshaft needle bearing and also renewed the tappets. Before the installation I filled the tappets with oil. Now I started the engine and noticed that the tappet from the exhaust valve on the front cylinder is not working. The plunger is fully retracted in the housing and is tight in the housing. Do you have any idea what may have caused this? The tappets are from Feuling. I hope, it wasn't a bad choice... Thanks
Are your oil passages clear? Make sure the tappets are getting oil. The front exhaust gets it last. Always the first to fail. I think maybe no oil to that front lifter. Better go look.
Maybe you even got some kind of contamination in the lifter. Carefully disassemble it, clean it, put it back together. Be very careful and sanitary. Never mix internal parts between lifters.
Well, I had this in mind. But oil was there, at least when I disassembled it. I couldn't get the plunger out of the tappet and see, if there is a contamination.
I've got an 07 dyna I went to a 16" rear wheel. Just a heads up. I may be doing g so.ething wrong but I have to remove e my break caliper off to give myself enough clearance to get the wheel in and the put the caliper bake on after its in there
Most of the time, it's my own stuff that needs doing. Every once in a while I do all the favors I have to catch up on. At the moment, I don't have a Sportster and the ones I normally see with friends on them are doing fine.
Hey mike hope you're doing great. Currently installing a S&S super E to my 03 sportster. The oem bolts holding the intake flanges were a little brittle looking. Living in Puerto Rico, I cant find anyone who can sell me some steel HD grade 8's. Is using stainless steel not recommended due to having to use anti-seize when using on aluminum? Dont know what bolts to use, and fear if I use antiseize the bolts can back out. Likewise dont want anything to rust and snap off if I ever need to remove those bolts in the future. Would really like to know your take on this if possible. Take care and sorry to bother, know you're super busy
Normally, those are grade 5 or 6 allen head cap screws. Use with no antisieze or threadlocker. Don't be sorry. You're the guy who watches this channel. Be sure those threads are all dry and clean. I've dealt with them in "high rust" areas. No problem. The size is 5/16" x 18.
@@pacificmike9501 thank you for the info & taking out the time to answer things like this. Honestly appreciate it a ton Mike. Stay safe and have a great rest of the week!

Very interesting stuff. It’s crazy that on most stock Harleys the rear wheel isn’t centered with the fender.
I think it's intended to, but is so "adjustable" that we really don't know where "center" might be.
