Igor, other than being part of the vast Nimzowitsch Defense, I don't see a name for this system. If you don't have a name, I have a suggestion that I like: The Errant Knight Defense. In English, "errant knight" refers to a medieval knight who has lost his way. In your system a feature that is common to almost all of it and that particularly sets up this system of positions is the knight that loses its way and winds up all the way over on g6. I hope you like the name as much as I do. It's yours to use if you wish.
I was 1100 in a an Open Tournament, played this and beat an FM, IM and GM to win. I was banned, investigated, and locked in a dungeon for 11 years because it was considered witchcraft. This opening is very dangerous.

I tried your opening right after watching this video and guess what happned I won by checkmate. And I sacrificed THE ROOOOK. Thank you for this video GM.
What's the response to 1 d4 Nc6 2 d5? As a d4 player myself, that's what I do when I see Nc6 on move 1 (which I rarely see). Even for system openings, you have to adapt to your opponent's play.
12:10 I just checkmated my opponent exactly like this! On other games where the sequence are different, the mindset and logic that you taught are also very useful and applicable. Thank you GM Smirnov!
Wow! I love hope thorough you describe the variations! Many teachers will pose an idea and say, “then your opponent will go here” but that example is only one of four valid moves and the other three collapse the trap! You illustrated the theory beautifully. I’m excited to try this.
Thank you GM Igor Smirnov, on my 3rd attempt I got a model game and won with check mate on move 12, as black. Much thanks for the well explained and nicely communicated lessons.
0:13 opening against e4 0:30 you counter strike 0:48 they push forward 1:07 you move king side 1:23 you bring bishop out to either b4 or c5 1:39 bring other knight out 2:00 lose on spot if they play 2:15 team up 2:36 they try to defend with rook 2:45 if they do go knight h4 with other knight 2:59 they try to defend with castle 3:22 bring queen out

10:56 against the London 11:03 you can move bishop g4 or f5 11:24 now you go pawn e5 11:32 11:45 you trade queens 12:08 they take the pawn and rook d1 checkmate 12:16 if they don't fall for trap
This is a very good system, especially if White doesn't know it. In most lines on lichess, Black scores much better than White. HOWEVER, in lines where White pushes an early h4 (either 1.e4 Nc6 2.d4 e5 3.d5 Ne7 4.Nf3 Ng6 5.h4! or 1.d4 Nc6 2.c4 e5 3.d5 Ne7 4.Nf3 [or Nc3] Ng6 5.h4!) White scores better AND the computer gives a very comfortable advantage. This h-pawn push is quite thematic against Knights on g6/g3. These are not the most popular lines, but you are rolling the dice and/or need to do some homework in these Harry Attack lines if you want to play them in non-blitz games. (You also need to know how to play the Scotch after 3.Nf3!?, though GM Smirnov has some videos on that so not a big deal.)
I see one move from White that could prevent the whole system : what if after 1. d4 ... Nc6, white immediately pushes d5 to chase the Knight ? You didn't get a chance to push e5 yet, so the Knight doesn't have the e7 square to retreat. What would you recommend in that case ?
1... Nc6 is the opposite of aggressive. It allows 2. e4 and blocks the c7 pawn which is meant to be sacrificed in order to play e5, or is meant to take on d4 to isolate the d4 pawn and open the file for the c8 rook.
Not sure if you read this to respond, others might: the position at 8:33 --> what to do when the bisshop checks? No blocks so you move the king, does seem inconvenient...
IMO, since White only has the light-squared bishop, moving the king to f8 (or e7, connecting the rooks) is fine. Then launch a kingside pawn storm with rook on H or G file.
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise in these UA-cam videos. Motivated by these, during your end of year sales, I purchased GM Igor Smirnov’s Opening Bundle and your Grandmasters Secrets video. Then I was able to take advantage of your two for one promotion and added a couple of your end game video lessons too ... Endgame Expert and Practical endgames. I have my eye on your MIDDLEGAME EXPERT PACKAGE next ! Thanks again.
I'm really intrigued by the universal possibilities of this opening, but at least one hole I think you have here is in covering d4 - Nc3 - d5. This seems like it can get pretty tricky. The knight is pretty much forced to e5, and pawn to e5 doesn't work anymore.
got a question Igor - I'm currently in a game and using this opening as black - white opened e4 I did Nc6 (as per your video) , he did d4, i did e5, then he did Nf3 - this is where i'm confused : If i take my knight to e7 (from c6), he can go knight to e5 and take my pawn, and leave me vulnerable to taking (or exchanging knights) at g6 - what do i do here? Do i take my knight from g8 to f6or exchange knights and lose that pawn, which also leaves me with one knight and not able to do as your video says with 2 knights - thank you Igor
I was playing the Nimzowitch Defense but someone taught me that Caro-Kann is better. Who do you think is better? Caro-Kann or Nimzowitch(and ither Nc6 openings)?
Igor- Just a thought... You appear to be confirming (?) the futility of completely focusing on center control? Even Magnus is ignoring opening theory and launching attacks like a chess AI engine (Chess Bot).🙂
White plays d4, black plays kc6, white pushes pawn to d5 attacking blacks knight. You can’t play the normal moves discussed in the video now. How do you handle d5 attacking the knight on move 2?
Bro this opening is dayum strong💪💪💪💪. I just consecutively defeated a 1200 thrice although I am only 1025. And all of this by just by watching a 10 minute vdo. Hope I get pinned😊😊
Don’t like complicated chess openings and I find playing black is a very frustrating and hopefully as black start my attack in the middle game ,? I like to attack and destroy my opponent to checkmate as fast if possible?.
@@ScottMiller777 Ah, wasn't thinking. I would go Ne5 with the plan to go to g6. But opponent could go to f4 and then f5, in which case I would be spending the first 4 moves running around with the knight.. But funny enough, the evaluation bar would still be equal.

Tnx!
i definitly wanna see a video of this system with white love the videos igor!
That was a really good video with all the traps, and since the opening is uncommon you can catch people off guard
Awesome content, thank you very much. Your enthusiasm is contagious

Commenting so I can see the answer.
This was my question too.
Same Question!
I have a solution! For d4 just go for the video he talked about at 10:45 and avoid d5 on your Knight
2… Ne5
12:10 I just checkmated my opponent exactly like this!
On other games where the sequence are different, the mindset and logic that you taught are also very useful and applicable. Thank you GM Smirnov!

Yes, I see this with other videos. “If your opponent makes the worst move possible, you’ll get make in five!”

0:48 they push forward
1:07 you move king side
1:23 you bring bishop out to either b4 or c5
1:39 bring other knight out
2:00 lose on spot if they play
2:15 team up 2:36 they try to defend with rook 2:45 if they do go knight h4 with other knight
2:59 they try to defend with castle 3:22 bring queen out
5:23 they play d4
5:32 you move knight
5:42 you play same moves and move king side
5:56 you develop other knight
6:23 you want to move bishop to pin knight b4 or help attack on king side c5
7:02 a weird move from Bishop 7:50 they trade and you recapture with queen
8:12 you bring bishop out 8:15 you move pawn
8:29 now you move knight
8:36 they attack your bishop

He actually didn’t talk about this which is so important too
I had the exact same thought.
This has happened in 5 out of 5 games lol
That is my question, too.
It's very imbalance and very aggressive system at the same time. This is gold
This was posted 1 min ago what you talking about 😂

What can I do if after 1. d4 Nc6, white plays 2. d5? How to maintain the attacking plan? Thx.
I was going to ask the same question
Knight to e5 is strong after retreating it to g6 on the next move
Great content! Thanks a lot!
Do you just take the d4-pawn after 1.e4 Nc6, 2. d4 e5 3.Nf3?
Who agrees that Remote Chess Academy is the best free course available on youtube??
Absolutely!
Agreed
Why is the edge pawn never used to defend against the aggressive bishop move to B4 or G4?
Just discovered this channel - fantastic stuff, exactly what I was after, love it!
Wow this is awesome breakdown of this opening! Cants wait for the upcoming video with White!
Hi igor, would you recommend this opening for beginner players (700-800) over the king's indian defense ?
Yeah. Cause KID have a lot of lines and it's easy to yourself get lost. But nimzowich have less lines to study and to understand
I’ve subbed!
Looking forward to watch the versions while playing white!

You're welcome, appreciate you for being here 💛
This opening has really improved my game off both sides. Thank you sincerely GM Smirnov!!
I've already learned one of your tricky openings and am having quite a lot of success with it. Now I'm going to try this one and see how it goes.
Good luck!
Question: at around 10:00, what if white pushes to d5? Same with London example after you play Bf4.
Thank you sir, I love your videos. And yes we would love to see the variation with white pieces :)

what if d4, nc6, d5? resign?
Thank you!
These videos are so amazing for a new player like me. Thanks so much! Your explanations help me understand the reasoning behind moves.
What if after Kight C6 the opponent pushes D5?

Nice! What about 2.d5 though for white?
I discovered this myself trying not to use queen pawn opening every game but was never tactically efficient with it.
Do you take any offline classes of chess
I try this opening just now! I have got checkmated in 6 moves! Thank you very much!
What to do when white plays d4 , we play Nc6 , then white kicks our knight on the third move by playing d5 ?
Yah would like to know too
Hey, but what about move d5 against knight c6?
got a question Igor - I'm currently in a game and using this opening as black - white opened e4 I did Nc6 (as per your video) , he did d4, i did e5, then he did Nf3 - this is where i'm confused : If i take my knight to e7 (from c6), he can go knight to e5 and take my pawn, and leave me vulnerable to taking (or exchanging knights) at g6 - what do i do here? I'm a fellow Nc6 player
This will help a lot
What about d4, Nc6 and d5?
What will happen if they play d5 after Nc6.
What prevents white from 4. Bg5 pinning your knight?
I was playing the Nimzowitch Defense but someone taught me that Caro-Kann is better.
Who do you think is better?
Caro-Kann or Nimzowitch(and ither Nc6 openings)?
caro-kann
Восхищаюсь твоими успехами и ростом канала
So if it’s universal how do we go about them castling on queen side
This is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm sick of the same openings and being aggressively attacked in the centre from the off.
Didn't cover d4 c6 d5 if they push the d pawn immediately when we haven't opened up a place for the knight do we just move the knight to e5?
This is beautiful. Confuses all opponents below 1000.
What doesn't?
This isn’t true as a simple h3 pawn kick of your bishop when they’re playing the London makes this totally not work
I like this one and gonna it a try; thanks!
01:35 Why white shouldn´t attack the bishop with the knight??
what if d4 nf6 d5
Wow, that's great!😀
Igor- Just a thought... You appear to be confirming (?) the futility of completely focusing on center control? Even Magnus is ignoring opening theory and launching attacks like a chess AI engine (Chess Bot).🙂
What do you do if they’re playing London, and after you pin the knight, they don’t play e3 and instead they kick your bishop with h3?
White plays d4, black plays kc6, white pushes pawn to d5 attacking blacks knight. You can’t play the normal moves discussed in the video now. How do you handle d5 attacking the knight on move 2?
thanks teacher
As a nimzowitsch Player, I recommend d5 instead of e5
Can you post a video???
Very nice sir🎉😊😅
Bro this opening is dayum strong💪💪💪💪. I just consecutively defeated a 1200 thrice although I am only 1025. And all of this by just by watching a 10 minute vdo. Hope I get pinned😊😊
Its not the opening its the power of a plan
thank you so much indeed. i'm myanmar. 😊
Thankyou Master....
1.e4 Nc6 2.d4 e5 3 Nf3 is the Scotch.
what is it called?
Thanks Igor. ❤❤❤
❤
How to continue as Black if, 1. d4 Nc6, 2.d5 ....?
how if white goes d5 after d4 ? no escape route for knight...
How is this opening called?
10:00 what happens if white plays d5?
Then you resign.
Good question. And what about d5 as White´s second move?
You must play a cramped game where white has all the attacking plans.
He has a video on it somewhere
Checkout this video if your opponent plays 2. d5. ua-cam.com/video/i3SZlCXYjkg/v-deo.html
This opening makes me enjoying chess so much more 😂😂
Please show us Colorado gambit in detail..
What if he plays pawn d4 you open your knight then he pushes samw pawn on d5? I played this opening and i didn't like it cus of this
Excellent
but what if they push the pawn d5 ?
Don’t like complicated chess openings and I find playing black is a very frustrating and hopefully as black start my attack in the middle game ,? I like to attack and destroy my opponent to checkmate as fast if possible?.
What if the opponent plays D4 and immediately follows with D5 attacking the knight straight away?
Ohh, that's great, thanks for teaching new opening line🎉🎉❤❤
❤
What about after kc6 they push the pawn To d5
Then you play mike pist system
Thanks for the Vid! What about 1.d4 Nc6 2.d5!
Nxd5?
@@j00f That's impossible. A knight on c6 can't access d5.

you should talk about 1e4 Nc6 2 Nf3
What if the opponent plays d5 immediately after you bring your knight out?

What if d5 after knight move
what about 1 d4 n-c6 2 d5?
Is this also known as the Blackburn defense?
What about 1. b4 ? Should you play 1…Nc6 too? ;)
ok so how to defence about this knight opening...
I definitely have to try this opening
