I always assumed umbreon would be used as a stall deck, with gravitational gemstone and gust to trap something in the active. But i guess doing all that *and* powering up the umbreon is probably too much to ask.
That should be the way since why play three diferent energy every turn just to do something that literally any deck can achieve by just playing the game
@Aimnoos fair thinking, my thought is the sub-optimal solo-Umbreon deck where you completely lean into @shrivelingfire's idea of Gravity Gemstone (possibly Calamitous Wasteland as well) + gust to trap your opponent and then just farm Prize Cards with Onyx+Super Rod+Powerglass+Crispin to keep looping energy.
I could honestly see this being usable if it didn’t discard the energy. Most games last 5-8 turns (pre-Budew, that is), so taking a guaranteed prize every turn for six turns, excluding the possibility of Umbreon getting KO’d sounds pretty decent.

umbreon is my fav eeveelution and they've done him sooo dirty... it's a horrendous ex. moon mirage is mid and onyx is terrible 3 alternate energy for 1 prize smh why didn't they make it 2 prizes or atleast flip a coin if heads take an extra prize..
@flowerflour5257 cinderace is stage 2 tho. 280 on a stage 1 isn't bad. flareon is usable, jolteon at a stretch. but there rest just lame. umbreon the worst. sylveon is erratic but deffo can be niche and funny seems like they just made them to sell arts rather than anything good in game... such a shame
@vkdeen7570 yeah, he is a stage two w/ no retreat, which means that he can be grabbed with feather ball, and that it can more easily do consistent 280 damage, plus, it just can't use the first attack; flareon can't attack at all and with a two retreat energy cost, it's kinda hard to get it to do any damage at all if the opponent doesn't knock it out. Sure, you usually need a turn more and more resources (since boosted evolution is a thing), but flareon's second attack should have been a lot better, with all of the card's shortcomings. This is not directed at you in a negative way, by the way, I'm just passed at the pokemon company for deliberately nerfing pokemon that are so beloved. Unfortunately. I miss espeon and vaporeon gx. Hell, even sylveon gx was broken, you could go for that eevee that evolved by energy, evolve turn 1 and get your game pretty much set up for you by searching 3 cards. It's a shame that it didn't get much competitive play back then.
I am not sure why this pack(Prismatic Evolutions) is so popular.... all the eevee evolutions take way too long to set up and require more than 1 different energy. It is not good for competitive gameplay and not playable unless it is a casual game.
