Thanks for the towing tip. Also, I found this out at the car wash. You can put it in neutral and press the on button to keep the ID4 on without having to sit inside.
Thanks for recording this informative and educational video for us. Hope everything turned out OK after your tow to the dealership. Since you’re sometimes in Burlington if you ever need service locally there’s a great service department at Minuteman Volkswagen in Bedford Massachusetts
Do you know if Minuteman Volkswagen have any ID.4 specific service technicians and equipment? Waiting for "specialize" equipment is one of the reason why the repair is taking so long for me.
@@EVTipsAndTricks , I hope things work out. Seems like you are not the only id4 owner on UA-cam who are experiencing car issues. ua-cam.com/video/qXHB3nh547A/v-deo.html
I had to tow a 2021 Id 4 and it wasn’t too complex. The regular tow truck can take it. You don’t have to wait around for a flatbed. Regular tow trucks carry dollies that they will place in the rear to lift the tires off the ground. The tow truck then scoops and lifts the front wheels off the ground and essentially you have a car on wheels on wheels lol anyways hope this helps. I did however just got a 12v battery indicator, “drive with caution” warning
Thanks for the Video. Mine is the 2023 ID4 Pro. And doesn’t have the front towing insert nor the hole:( I’m having a difficult time getting it towed from the parking lot inside an apartment building
Thank you for the video and important information. I bought my ID.4 at VW Wellesley as well. I have found their service group to be excellent. Hopefully they will have you back on the road soon. It would be interesting to know what the exact problem was and what had to be fixed.
@@EVTipsAndTricks Strangely enough I went out this morning to take a short trip in my 2021 ID.4 Pro S and I also go the "Electrical system not working correctly please service vehicle" message. It was accompanied by the inability to turn the car on so that I could not put it in gear nor release the emergency brake. Anyway, the tow truck driver was able to extract the car from my garage and it also now sits at Wellesley VW. I await their solution.
I am having recurring problems with the electrical system error in my 21 Pro S. VW can not replicate failure and has had the car for 2 months. What was resolution to your issue?
I wonder....do you have to sit in it to keep it in neutral? Can't you just hit the button on the side of the steering wheel? or won't it just stay in neutral when you get out of the seat even though its off?

That’s a great tip! I will give that a try.
I just towed someone's 22 id. 4 and I saw no on button. Just the engine start button

Hope all goes well s done repairs are swift. Keep us posted. Glad you can still keep a positive outlook. It’s a great EV. Thanks for sharing.

Once I know what is going on I will definitely make a follow up video. VW Wellesley at least gave me a fun Taos to drive around for now.

Sucks that this happened, but it's good info to know just in case. Did they ever find out what was wrong with the car?
See the second video for answers... (Rodents)
@@EVTipsAndTricks no way. Really?? That's not very encouraging... I have the same issue with my current car, and it's 17 years old!
Great video! Did not know about the eyelet tool for the front. great info...thank you!

Any update about if the issue identified and resolved?
When you had your VW towed, did you have to give a key to the tow truck driver so he could unload it? Just curious.
thanks for the Video hope your ID4 got fixed

😢😢😢 im in iraq Baghdad. My car not work same this video. Drive inverter problem.
My wiring was damaged by rodents

Good question and I don't know. I am going to try it when I get the car back (hopefully this week).
Did you get the updated software? A person I know has a 2022 AWD with software 3.0. I have a 2021, but still no update for mine.
No software update yet in the US.
Nice!!! I almost need to tow. What happens to mine was the 12V battery died 3 times. Got jumped by another car and I started
Did they replace the 12V battery under warranty?
@@EVTipsAndTricks they did. Works fine now. But now I carry a small battery charger just in case.
Any update regarding your ID 4.
New videos will be great.
Unfortunately no update yet!
@@EVTipsAndTricks theyve had your car a month with no update? or you havent had time to make one?
Any update as to what happened.

How frustrating. In 25 years of driving I've never had a car breakdown on me (not counting flats). A new EV? I'd be super upset.
This video causes the id.4 to move lower on my EV shopping list.
understandable!
any update ?
