The Fighter Jets Protecting Lithuanian Airspace
Вставка

- In continuing to look at Lithuania’s military and defence situation, I think it’s high time we go over its fighter jet situation - or more specifically, its role as a host nation and beneficiary of NATO’s Baltic Air-Policing mission. In this video, I’ll cover the mission, participating countries, and results that have been reported by NATO.

- I guess as a person who grew up in Šiauliai, you might be annoyed by the noise of the jets?
- What noise?
Lithuanian here, really cool to see a foreigner who moved to lithuania cover these things. Hope you continue these videos until you can't. Garbė tau, lietuvi.
In lands where amber whispers ancient tales,
Three jewels gleam where Northern winds prevail.
The Baltic States, in whispers softly sung,
Their histories rich, their spirits ever young.
Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania's embrace,
Three nations bound by a shared, resilient grace.
Though small in size, their hearts beat strong and bold,
Their stories etched in marbled memories old.
From Tallinn's spires to Riga's cobbled streets,
To Vilnius' skyline where past and present meet,
Each breathes the air of freedom's fervent song,
Though shadows linger, resilience marches on.
Through centuries of trials, their spirits soared,
Enduring storms, their unity restored.
In amber hues, their cultures intertwine,
A tapestry of resilience, divine.
Beneath the Northern lights, they stand as one,
A testament to all that can be done.
Though small, their strength, a beacon shining bright,
Guiding nations through the darkest of night.
So raise a toast to Baltic lands afar,
Where smallness hides a strength that's made of star.
In Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania's embrace,
The Baltic States, forever find their place!

@@logiko3558 Aint going to argue, it might be created with chatgpt, idk. I'm not taking any credits, I just copy-pasted it from somewhere else. Still, it sounds/reads very uplifting which is why I left it here ;] Enjoy✌
I live in Šiauliai. And the planes don't really annoy me. Pretty cool seeing the typhoon in the sky
Next Lithuania Explained video: How I joined Lithuanian army :)))
Is Lithuanian accepting veterans?
I don't think he could do that, considering he served only canadian one
I live in Šiauliai. NOT annoyed at all. Eurofighter typhon are common seen in the sky. All Nato friends are wellcome.
I had 0 idea how the Lithuanians protect their air space. And I am thankful for you a lot because we're giving great information about a very small country.I appreciate you at tonbro
It was really cool to see the french Mirage Jets at the Lithuanian 20 year NATO anniversary. I was near the presidents Palace so i got to see the low fly-by.
Well done with the Lithuanian military series. It’s a topic worth knowing and understanding, yet it hasn’t received adequate coverage until quite recently, i.e. after the beginning of the 2022 Ukraine-Russia war.
Also, back in Summer 2019 there was an incredible air show at Šiauliai airbase with all kinds of fighter jets, helicopters and air acrobatics. Really wish to see a similar event again some day.
I grew up next to the Zokniai airport, we would see all the nato aircraft come in or scramble for usually russian jets in our airspace. Even saw the training accident mentioned in the video where a albatross collided with a mirage when they were doing identification training and approached too close in 2011. It happened above our village and the airframe crashed into the swamp not far from populated area
my friend lives in Siauliai it was strange for me talking on skype and hearing noise for him he was used to it
People seem to be loving these military videos ALOT :o
People would love to never again perish in Russian-made wars. ;)
@@manometras true, 200 years off the map aint fun :(
I would guess Sweden and Finland will probably also do air-policing over the baltics soon, just a guess tho
If you think that noise is bad, you should live in Dallas, Texas with the F-35 base here and C130s, constant Chinooks and Osprey. You become oddly use to it. Becomes like white noise, take a trip and cannot go to sleep without it lol
Great work, keep it up!
I did not know and I am quite pleased to find out.
Both F4 phantom and MIG-21 are Vietnam war vintage
You forgot the Lithuanian word of the day 😳😂
It might be lėktuvai or naikintuvai.
NATO working at its best!
Great video!
Great!

I'm not from Šiauliai but I guess there is default sky path for them. I can spot these aircrafts flying above my home town which is almost in the middle of Lithuania. The noise isn't annoying unless they fly really low. I mean really really low, just above the rooftops 😂.
It's really low, when you can identity the eye colour of the pilots 😂
Greetings from Germany 🖐
@@saba1030 unless they stand near me 😂. I'm short-sighted and they fly so fast so it would be mission impossible.
No, I didn't knew about airpolicing nothing, though I should have guessed...
What I knew is that Russian federation military aircrafts too many times entered airspace of different European countries, even those who weren't in NATO yet. And I know, russians did it too many times during too many years. But then again, I'm living away from Lithuania now, far away on another continent for decades already..
As usual, thank you very much
Dėkui
There were F-35 stationed in Lithuania few years ago. Wasn't this part of air police mission?
Ah, it wasn't in the Wikipedia list I referenced but I see now what you are talking about. It looks like it was more of a last-minute, unplanned thing meant to support the fighter jets already in Lithuania and a response to the invasion of Ukraine. Thanks for letting me know!
@@LithuaniaExplained I saw one over my window flying. How you can miss that? :D
How many aircraft would Lithuania need to their own I wonder to generate 2 fighters available 24/7 ?
war is insane
Is the Baltic Air-Policing mission intended to be a temporary measure, with an expectation that the Baltic States will create their own air combat wing? I would think doing so would be a very expensive task to build a meaningful capability, money better spent on other assets.
Doubt it will happen in Lithuania any time soon, cuz we buying up tanks and creating tank brigade
You forgot the Lithuanian word of the day. Now you ow us two🤪.
Yeah I don’t know… for you and other appreciative subscribers I’d be happy to. But oftentimes I get more criticism than I care for - so why bother 😂
Two recent examples:
Marginimas: officially used by the LT military when discussing camouflage pattern- but everyone was saying it was only for Easter egg painting.
Dislokavimas: was told I had pronounced it incorrectly when my wife confirms it was fine. And someone else was critical of me choosing that word for the permanent stationing of German soldiers because it was different than a deployment; although dislokavimas is also used by LT government to talk about the German brigade coming 🙈
Don’t get this explanation confused with my feelings getting hurt; I just prefer not to have to try and defend myself every time someone offers incorrect criticism- it gets tiring 😝
I think you were doing great. Small pronunciation mistakes are no matter for those who really understand difficulties of learning new language, or even more important - very difficult, almost archaic language.. Those, who trying to learn lithuanian will appreciate one more new word in tight context of your new video
If I may be so bold to advice to - do continue , please
Ir sėkmės ❤
Hardly enough air power in case ruzzia attacks... what do you think?
russia dont even have border with lithuania except kaliningrad, also they dont gather any troops near nato border at the moment, if they see a movement they will deploy more
@@domasabrom2994 Belarus had some movements in the direction of Lithuania. That's alarming...
@@TheTwangKings bro couple thousand soldiers and 5 tanks isnt a movement, plus NATO exercises now in lithuania and Poland thats why they Sent them
