If you are honest, you would go & pay the lady additional $$$ based on what you now know about the value of the dolls and accessories. I realize u didn't know the value when offered the lady the $80 total. But there is a line between getting a bargain and taking advantage of someone. You now know what side of this line you are on and there would still be plenty of profit if you do right by the lady. Let your conscience be your guide.
I hear what you’re saying and I’ve actually done similar things in the past after the fact. However, these situations happen all the time to people (this one just happens to be on UA-cam) - so I just thought I’d argue the other side for a sec…mostly because I don’t like terms like “taking advantage.” First, I really dislike throwing out the first number (especially when I’m clueless of value). Sometimes you have to though. You have to start somewhere and you expect a counteroffer and then the negotiation begins. In this case, she accepted the first offer - and frankly, I think she was expecting less. Currently, I’m about 10-12 man hours into research and I’m still not done. In this “business” time is about the most valuable asset you have. I haven’t even started the process of researching how to properly clean these items. Needless to say, I have several hours of work left before I can even begin the process of photographing, listing, describing and packing so I can get shipping weights and dimensions, etc. After everything is listed, I’ll have to field questions and provide customer service, etc. If and when something/everything sells I’ll have to wait until I know the customer is satisfied before I’m able to fully realize what kind of profit was actually made and if it was worth all of the hours of time I put into it. Because, let’s face it, there are plenty of categories I actually know well that would not command this much of my time. At the end of the day, I did not strong arm anyone into anything. I was asked to make an offer, I did and it was accepted with no resistance. The tools for research and finding values are free and available to everyone. The playing field is about as level as it could possibly be. The difference comes down to who is willing to spend the time it takes to fully realize the potential any given item could have. Convenience has a cost. Garage sales are convenient, spending time researching and selling to a worldwide market is not. Again, I’m in no way trying to invalidate your opinion or even change your mind. Your comment was heartfelt and respectful. Like I said, I know these deals happen all the time - I just happen to share my interactions with the world. Figured I’d just play devils advocate in case anyone else reading this shares similar inner struggles. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@FroggyFlips great response! Good for you on supporting your business. I don’t think it’s taking advantage at all. If they wanted to make money on them, they should do the research and work to sell them for more online. Not your problem if they sell at a garage sale and accept what you offer.
@@FroggyFlips You don't have to justify anything to me obviously; you have to be comfortable with yourself. I am not tryimg to judge you & yes, "taking advantage" is a poot choice of words on my part. Its important to remember, however, that not all poepie are tech savey with strong online researching skills.
For sure. More just a response to a common type of question 👍
@@FroggyFlips I agree with you. Some people may think nowadays eBay resellers are 'robbing' poor people rn. But as my observation for 10 years on eBay ( but I just start reselling recently) and from those high-end vintage shops in Manhattan, upcycling and reselling is a long tradition in the US. Resellers are putting more effort and passion into this business than people may think. I think UA-camrs make it looks like "Woah, an easy flip, an easy 1 to 100!". That does not happen most time. In reality, you have to source 100 items to find that only one gem, and items take time to sell. During the rest time, you have to travel, source, clean, take pictures, sort, storage, etc. TONS OF WORK. And you have to keep a garage full of junk which may be sold tomorrow or may go back to junk eventually. I take this experience as a fun adventure to know the neighborhood, learn the history, and do some market research. As talk of money, not really.
I think I speak for all of your fans in saying we would love a video of you searching that jewelry!!!!!
YES!
Absolutely. I'd love to see the awesome ones, the duds, everything.
Yes! Love to see the jewelry finds.
Absolutely!
Yes please :)
Aww, the Barbie and GI Joe stuff is making my heart pitter-patter as I reminisce about my favorite childhood pastime! You did GREAT! There is no reason to feel bad, I think your offer was extremely fair, especially not knowing exactly what was there and all the many hours of research you now have to put into it is something other people commenting on dont take into consideration. Face it, the original seller could have done the same thing but chose to sell at a yard sale and was fine with the $80 offer. This is exactly WHY we go to yard sales! Yeah for You!
I remember seeing The Homeschool picker sell one Barbie outfit for 180.00. Plz keep us updated
I'm interested in how much you would charge for the monkey doll(its from the Planet of the apes)... i had 1 growning up my dog chewed it up...never could replace it...it brings back such good memories ☺
Haha, I'm not creepy, I just have a suitcase with some bodies and severed heads 🤣👍 great find!
Of course I immediately thought of toy story lol
I wasn’t prepared for those graphic scenes
The Barbies are amazing score. I have sold a good deal of vintage Barbies, I have sold heads and torsos and everything Barbie. Don't discount that talking Barbie torso, on its own t's probably $20 to $30. Thought I would give you a little info - which you may have gathered by now!- the doll you pulled out from the first case around 16:16 is Francie. 19:03 Malibu Barbie from the 1970s) 19:09 that's either Casey or Twiggy and then 19:10 there is a dark haired doll: she is valuable and rarer: her name is Scooter and is Skipper's friend- I would sell it seperately, could be $80. I am so proud of you for picking up vintage Barbies!
Laughed my head off at the naked Sean Connery dolls. Lol.
As an avid doll collector, these are the finds I dream about! You have an amazing lot of Barbie right there.
Julie, I have a one-off odd doll, antique, could you send me any info on where to market it ? It looks like it is from the 1920's, kind of "Lillian Gish" ish. Where is the best place to market something that is unique?
As someone who has had yard sales for years, you did nothing wrong.
When I sale an item and I’m satisfied with the price I get then I don’t care if they make money!
Love your channel.
I saw a couple of the Barbie clothing pieces that I also had as a child.Awwww!!! :)
Thanks for watching!
@@FroggyFlips Im interested in the barbie Francie case and clothes. Please let me know when you will list Ebay.
I sold a small lot of Barbie outfits from the 1960s a few years ago. They were not in good condition - some stains and holes - , but they had the accessories - hats, purses shoes. There were 5 or 6 outfits and they sold to someone in England for about $450. then they had to pay import duties and postage. They were thrilled ! So, if you can match up the accessories with the outfits, it will increase the value. I would mine at a church rummage sale in a box of kitchen gadgets . I would have fainted if I had found what you did !
I love seeing what you find out in the wild. When I was a girl, I had that exact same Barbie case (the white one) and I have to admit my heart sunk to find out what it's worth today. That happens a lot when I watch thrifting/yard sale videos. "I had that!" is a common refrain. LOL But I sure do enjoy watching you find it all, and it's making me itchy to get back out to thrifting and picking again. Thanks!
I feel the same way....thinking about trinkets I loved as a child or even a teenager. My cinderella watch and the statue that came with it and all my Holly Hobbie stuff. ...boggles the mind :)
Oh God me too! My Barbies and others from the 60' & 70's. Plus I just found out a lot of my Disney clothes can resell for good $ so I'm going thru those from the 90's and 2000's. It boggles my mind and makes me happy I didn't clean out the storage bins in my garage until now! 😅
That jewelry could be costume and still quite valuable, I would recommend saving it for a cold or rainy day, and go through it. Same thing with your barbies. Videos galore could be made going through that haul! Congratulations on the treasures!
Lol this poor lady was getting sick over getting rid of the barbies. That's her childhood history right there. She maybe should have saved just one to keep for herself, for nostalgia and get rid of everything else. Win win situation!
"These are my barbies" ahh breaks my heart. I wish I kept them alive as a child...
Growing up in the 60/70s, those GI Joe’s bought me back to a great time as a kid. Way to go 🐸ie !
When you opened that zipper which showed it was packed up of older Barbie clothes my heart thumped!
I'm obsessed with that Quickdraw McGraw wall hanging. It is too cute. I'm really enjoying your channel. You find some good stuff!
I honestly think people who say that he scanned that person or took advantage of them has never run a business or remotely understands what it takes to run a business. Obviously this content is curated to show finds, but so much is left out. The actual drive to the place, the many places you walk out with nothing. The times you buy something that was fake or you took a gamble and lost. It’s not like you can go back and return it. Not would anyone expect the seller to take it back. It would almost unanimously be understood it’s the buyer’s fault in this setting. So why can’t he find scores? If he’s not making a lot of money on something’s it won’t balance out with expenses and losses… great video bud keep it up!
Thank you so much! It’s so nice when people “get it!” I would be able to upload videos daily if I showed all the losses and negatives…but then it would be a double loss of time because no one watched those videos 😂. Cheers!
I love that you don’t try to squeeze people and get them to go as low as possible. If it’s a fair price you pay it and even give more than asking in some spots.
What a great find!! I really enjoy watching you go to yard sales.
The clothes are worth a mint. Don't sell in lots. Your investment is very small so you can just take your time with it. You probably will never find another lot like this except in the hands of collectors or resellers. I would slowly go through all the clothes and keep doing the research. You have several thousands there. Once you make your money I would go back and bless that lady with a little bit of it, but that is just me.
I live in England and I donated a lot of my costume jewellery to our local " hospice hospital " for them to sell & raise money for the hospice
You diffently SCORED...I have my Skipper ,Barbie #3 , and Ken dolls ..plus several of the clothes in your haul...I can really feel for that lady. . because my original 1959 Blonde ponytail Barbie and Ken in the original black patent leather case... were all stolen from a storage unit we had to get because of a fire in my mom's bedroom...It was horrible..She lost everything!!!!.. Fortunately..I was able to buy a refurbished Barbie from a former Mattel employee when I retired in 2008. I paid $300 and also an original Ken for $50..People just don't understand there are memories and stories that go along with our collectibles..You did very..very..well!!!
The things people look for lol. I am always on the lookout for 80s sticker albums . I wish I could find a few nostalgia as we get older means a lot 😂.
In England we have a saying " manners don't cost anything " I always say hello / good morning/ afternoon, to people that I don't know. I like to speak to people who I don't know. And please & thank you,
But some people don't know how to be polite to people.
I don’t think I would lot that much stuff together of Barbie stuff unless you want a fast turnaround. I would suspect it would be bought by a reseller who would part it out for quite a bit more. Research and listing individually will take time, but considering that some outfits alone my be worth $15-100 it may be worth your time. :)
I would just list it in bigger lots, make a good profit and be done with it. I made a small lot of Barbie clothes / items, no one bought at my initial fair price, so I lowered and a reseller swooped in and bought it up. I wouldn't waste my time doing that on fifty lots.
@@tkuebler9561 all about your personal business model. Some people want to flip stuff super quick and others are willing to wait for a higher amount. :)
I think he should part it out slowly over time, winter is coming and he will have a lot more spare time to do the ebay side of his business.
Oh wow, I love all those old Barbie stuff! Didn't know old Barbie clothes were valuable. :D
You are very kind and respectful at sales. I value that in your videos.
What a awesome haul! Pure treasure.Made my heart go nuts just watching. The doll's are amazing!
I am so very excited for you! This was awesome. I love your doll and accessories haul. Would love to see you go through the jewelry. You have been blessed by this find for sure❤️
I would’ve paid top dollar for the Spider-Man skateboard. Early 2000’s graphic, it was the exact one I had when I was 10 yrs old. I’m sad that you didn’t pick it up, but oh well. Seeing it in the video made me happy. The memories are priceless
I read these comments talking about honesty and taking advantage of people and I have to laugh. I've been in business as a contractor for 30 years. It is not the same business but there are some similarities/parallels. I travel to potential projects and spend time bidding work that I may or may not get, you go to sale after sale not knowing if you will find anything worth buying and not knowing how fast you can sell the items tying up your capital. There is huge overhead involved with this. All of these costs have to be factored into the business model. After I get a contract signed I have to complete the work and after you buy items you have to complete a sale, both require a ton of labor, the research and data entry alone to list items seems massive. When I finish a project I get paid for the project, in this business it seems there is no telling when something will sell, who knows when the payday will come, you may sit on items for a long time and have to sell it at cost if it doesn't move. Selling something at cost is a loss, heaven forbid you have to sell it for a loss or even throw it away. It is important to get buys like this (projects in my case) to make up for the times things don't work out or sell as anticipated. Until someone has been in business for themself and experienced the feast and famine involved they could never begin to understand.
I just love watching you find all this cool stuff..You got me going to yard sales looking for treasures now!!
I am 70 and do not drive so I miss garage sale-ing. I love vintage jewelry so I am drooling over your bags full. Have fun!
Least exciting part?!?!? Agree to disagree, I absolute love digging through old mystery jewelry piles! One of my favorite things in the world 😄💎🪙
Wow! Great finds Anthony! Always a joy to watch.
OMG. Those barbies and clothes!!! Love it
Great score!!! Vintage Barbies are the best!! You will be surprised how much the clothes and accessories are worth!! I would take the time to research them because one outfit can be over a hundred dollars and you have found a ton!!! You gave her a very fair offer. As someone who grew up in the 60's and 70's I also still have my old Barbies thanks to my Mother who saved everything. This lady was ready to part with her stuff and you gave her a great garage sale price, especially the fact that you have no knowledge of Barbies!!!❤ I think you did a great job and am very happy for you and your family!!!
I need a life. I am entertained by watching others pick but it inspires me. I love it.
Thanks for watching!
You will keep busy this winter sorting through all the jewelry! Always fun to see what you find.
I like how you take your time looking at each item as you consider purchasing it.
What a great find! Nostalgia. I love looking for the same thing for my own personal collection. Anything 80's-90's that will bring great childhood memories.
Fantastic finds Anthony really love watching your yard sale vids and just a brilliant channel to watch
OMG! I think I would have died if I saw all that Vintage Barbie stuff at a garage sale! That’s a great find that doesn’t happen often!
This was a lil freaky 4 me, as the lady u bought them from was having 2nd thoughts on selling her own Barbies, then u opened 1 of the cases & the dolls were in parts w/heads missing! The other case had all nude dolls~
I still have my Barbies from childhood~all with limbs attached & all dressed~some even in orginal boxes. So I found the condition of her treasured collection odd & strange! BTW, Collectors prefer "mint condition" when buying dolls!
I am literally sitting here salivating over all that jewelry you found. Great great scores
🐸 😃
ME TOO!!!
Money in the hand is the way to go. Lot it all together. Unless of course you really love Barbie and want to spend a lot of time learning about her and making a larger return over a much longer time. But time is money.
Oh my -what a fabulous haul of jewely!! Good for you!
In like a month can you make a video about how much of the barbies you’ve sold and for hii oh w much?
I had those Barbie cases. Gosh brings back memories. Julia. Ugh. Wow. Midge. Loved midge wish I kept my dolls !!’
Nice score and thanks for sharing.
No one better than Froggy!
I bet more money in the jewelry! Clasps say it all and unsigned are worth more than signed on some pieces! YAY YOU! Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️
Great buys Brother. I remember My Oldest Sister having a lot of vintage Barbies. Memory lane😀👍♥️🇨🇦🇺🇸🎉🎉👏👏👏👏🎉🎉💯
Wow, those dolls are a great find! I still have my Barbie from the 60's. Thank you for the video.
Please lets us see the jewellery....
Wow very informative thank u!
Ohhhh my lord I bet you scored on that jewelry and I haven’t even finished watching 😊
Whaaat not exciting?! I’ll buy them off you I love jewelry specifically the broaches.
Great finds I just come across$2,500 worth of barbies and GI joes pay 125 for it You are going to do awesome
Wow, that’s amazing!
These things look super clean. Buckets of Barbies and shoes, clothes! Amazing feeling just to follow you there! Quick Draw McGraw!
Those clothes look like a jackpot, 60s era...
I have not seen big GI Joes. Since I was a very young kid. Had all the his Vehicles close guns. The money it's worth today.
Nice barbie doll haul, as you said, the clothes and accessories are the big winner here!
Diahnne Carroll the actress who play Julia (and was on Dynasty) just passed away. Her sitcom was a ground breaking one.
Well not just...seems it was 2 years ago....time flies in era of Covid
You'll do well on the Barbie stuff. Lot it up if you want to sell it quick. I'd sell the clothes separately. Love watching your yard sale finds.
Enjoyed Watching as Always
Another great video, please keep them coming. I really enjoy watching you. Much love. X
I am so jealous over the jewelry at that sale. You got it for so cheap!!! I would have at least given her $200 and taken it all...then made a lot off reselling it. Wow! WOW! WOW!
I had gotten a Barbie set from 1961. I hadn't had time to research any of it when a "friend" started crying, that it was similar to the one she had as a kid and how bad she wanted it. Needless to say I caved and gave it to her because of her crying about her childhood. She immediately went to ebay and found the pricing around $400. So much for the childhood memories.
Awe that sweet lady, I feel her pain... I lost my childhood Barbies in a storage unit I defaulted on when I was going through a divorce and I started trying to rebuild the collection last year and it's hard considering some are outrageously expensive now! I'm sure you'll do well on those! :)
Wow !!! Your found always the gold . Congrats....
I would hold onto it do you research in the winter months when there’s no more sales out there. It may be more valuable than you think. Great video thanks Sandy Chicago 👍👍
Wow great find on the barbies for sure. I would love to go threw the old jewelry to
The Barbie lot is amazing! I sure hope to see more about the jewelry lot!💚
Thanks! I’m doubting there’s anything amazing in the jewelry but we’ll see!
Nice score vintage Barbie always does well awesome video bud
Congratulations on your awesome haul!
Great finds as always!! 👑❤️🤌🏼
I’m thinking more close to $2000 on your Barbie & G I Joe stuff. What a fantastic haul Froggy!!!! WOW!!🤩
Kind of like Valley of the Dead, Decapitated, and Naked! Very catchy title too! She seemed not to have cared that much about her dolls or maybe she played the heck out of them when she was little. Another good one!
Great haul!!
I have been selling on eBay for many years, and recently it has become a great souse of income in my semi retired life. What people don't understand is how many estate sales you go to in the middle of winter and wait in line for 2 hours, or how many garage sales you go to and find nothing. Not to mention how many times you get ripped off. So for this person who probably knows nothing about what we do and how hard it is and throw shame on you is just wrong. Froggy you are one of the only people I watch on UA-cam and actually learn a few things. Keep up the good work.
Well thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
I love finding old skateboards at yatd sales. Nice grab on the Powell complete
Good job, happy for you.
Thanks!
That lady with the Barbies reminds me of when i moved and sold all my original TMNT a huge box for $200. But i knew if i looked through and tried to ebay them i wouldn't have been able to.
That jewelry was the best find..💜💗♥️
You got some great stuff. Very happy for you.
Super nice doll haul Anthony.
Oh my word. That barn sale was amazing lol.The Barbie clothes!!!!
I would love to dig thru the jewelry. And each outfit for the barbies...amazing.
Amazing, no matter how you decide to sell!!
Gonna keep an eye on ur ebay store for those ponys, but great finds.
i'd chat with the homeschooling picker! she bought a huge barbie lot & knows quite a bit about its resale i'd assume now! i believe the francie stuff is the most valuable so if anything check into those outfits!
Stellar find it dude! It might be worth it just to go piece by piece and make much smaller lots with the Barbie stuff… Could be a fun project and obviously make you some money.
Nice haul Froggy 👍👍 Take care and God bless ✌️
barbie clothes are always a holy cow, i saw many times in goodwill online auctions, a small bundle is sold for about $70
I recognize twist and turn barbies(2) and a Casey doll.Twist and turn barbies with chocolate bon bon hair are rare and expensive.
Omg😱my jaw dropped with all that barbie stuff
Great find
Those jewelry bags could be amazing! I once bought a bunch of big glitzy ‘costume’ rings at a garage sale. It wasn’t until much later and closer inspection they all turned out to be marked 10 k and 14 k. You can just never tell!
