Old toys like that can go for a LOT of money. Years ago when I first started selling items online on platforms like Amazon, eBay, etc. I was shopping in this resale shop that we have out here in the Metro Detroit area that is a chain of large (full grocery store size) of resale stores called Value Village (now Value World) I noticed the staff putting some more products on the shelves, and I saw this old Monopoly game for $4 & some change, so I grabbed it. When I got home I was going thru all that I bought and was looking at the Monopoly game and saw that it was the original game from 1935 (Although the box was dated 1933) it was all made of wood. I thought that I might be able to get about a $100 for it, especially if I waited until the holiday season. I did some research and found out that if it was in great condition & (which this one was still unused/unopened) had all of the pieces, (It did) then I seen some for as little as $300 (in poor condition) and the highest I seen one sell for was $1,900, but for the most part they seemed to be going for right around $900 at the high end. To say that I was SHOCKED, would be the biggest understatement of the year. I thought cor sure I might make a $100, but, They seemed to sell best at Xmas time, so I had decided to wait until the holiday season to sell it, but I never even had to do so. I was at a Friend's house for the 4th of July and a guy that I didn't know came up to Me and asked if I was the one who has the Vintage Monopoly game that I'm selling, one of My friends had told Him about it bcuz He collects Antique Toys & a few other things. After we had talked about it for a few He asked if he could see it soon, I lived a few doors down so I went to get it. He looked it all over and asked Me if He could make Me an offer for it. I said yes, and nothing prepared Me for what he said, good thing that I have a good poker face, bcuz when He asked if I would take $2,800 for it. I was 110% sure I was being pranked or something. Bcuz I was just 😲SHOCKED😲. Needless to say that I said yes.

Real generosity would have been to 'donate' to the cause with an acknowledge to the woman what the real value of the lego's really was and to give her a fair piece of what you would make reselling them. Of course that way you would have gotten 'less'. Oh, and repeating that you gave her 'an even $10.' makes you 'less'.

Was glad to hear you talk of using EBay sold for a guide, been to several sales recently where they said "I sae one just like that listed on EBay for......". If you liked the American Pickers, you will probably also like the UA-cam channel Curiosity Incorporated, he is based in Canada and hunts for things in an old "Ghost Busters" ambulance.
$25 for a PS3? WTF I got mine 2 years ago and it was around $137...
Probably was stolen.

I guess I'm just not much of a people person and I have a naturally "curt" voice that sounds mean/strong/direct even when it isn't meant that way. I always found it to be quite awkward going to big sales and talking to people. Especially estate sales where they're selling away their loved one's stuff (even if junk) and I'm digging through it looking to make a few bucks by reselling it.
