Nah. Toppin was given away for free. RJ was given away as contract filler. Hartenstein was held back. Thibs hasn't taught anybody anything. He's a good coach who gets guys ready to play...but everybody on the Knicks could play before they played for Thibs. RJ, Quickley, and Toppin look like much better players away from Thibs than with Thibs.
@Michael_Page ihart took 8 million from the knicks. 2 years later he got 29 million. How was he held back? Obi was behind all nba randle so he was never gonna get much run. His per 36 numbers his last season with the knicks and 1st season with the pacers are identical. IQ was behind brunson. His per 36 were better with the knicks by 2 ppg and he shot better. RJ did improve but we knew that would happen when he could have the ball more but he had two all nba players in front of him in NY.
@@rah0210 RJ had two All NBA players on the court with him, not ahead of him. He's much more efficient in TO...as is Toppin in Indy. Again, these players were given away for nothing. Toppin got two second round picks and RJ was contract filler in the OG trade. Thibs playing Randle over Toppin against the Heat sunk Toppin's value. Randle played like dog poop...if Toppin wasn't good enough to get minutes over a one legged Randle....
IQ could have easily played more minutes with Brunson. IQ is a good defender and the Knicks looked decent with Brunson and Deuce together. iHart's per minute stats were better with the Clippers. Thibs didn't let iHart score or shoot threes. Thibs tried to start Jericho Sims over iHart. iHart MADE the Knicks play him because he was the so much better than Sims...should have never been playing behind Mitch, if we're being honest.
Guys improved their situations, sure, but it wasn't because Thibs taught anybody how to play or elevated any player's individual game. Thibs is a good coach, but not this player development guru people are trying to make him out to be.
I grew up in the Bronx and lived in NY most of my life. After I moved to Atlanta I would buy the NBA League Pass every year just to watch the Knicks and would be so tired of the losing that I stopped watching basketball by Thanksgiving 🙄
Because of all those years of suffering, you have no idea how much these past two seasons have meant to me 🥰

People forget that Brunson wasn't a 100 million dollar player when we signed him. He was for all intents and purposes "over paid". The knicks gambled and won, he became a 100 million dollar max player after he got the money. And that trust is now being reciprocated..... Let's not forget

Maybe most beloved and upcoming, but Judge has been doing this and won MVPs.

Brunson has done the knicks right but are the knicks going to do him right? I pray he doesn't have a serious injury through this contract.

Thats all nice and great but lack of depth on center position is alarming. Rebounds has been huge for Knicks and now that will change. I love Mitch but he cannot play big minutes even when healthy.

Its simple how the knicks built a winner they signed 24 year old randle in 2019 not yet in his prime then signed brunson 3 years later at 25 now randle 29 while brunson 27 still kinda was a quick fix typically knicks n lakers style but we never develop any stars we draft from day one like lakers who draftef magic, kobe n west while adding kareem, shaq n wilt to play with thier young guards we couldn't even draft n develop kp n n rj to play homegrown like tatum n brown or how philly drafted embiid n maxey n for awhile simmons was a young superstar.
