Lol I just searched this online and saw this new video! Just got a cool miller hat like mike d had and it’s all dusty from the foam that deteriorated and it’s super thin and floppy, I plan on washing it and using hairspray to make it more stiff

I'm a big hat reseller and here's mine...I bought metal shelving and some 64qt clear plastic containers on Amazon. Figure out a sorting method. Mine is sports leagues, auto racing, then I go by color if they dont meet the other categories. Others will do standard inventory systems, its up to you. Just figure out a way that makes them easy to pick after you made the sale. Nothing is worse than sorting through 4+ bins because you forgot which one its in. The hats can easily be stored stacked together, just push the back into the contour of the front and "stack" them carefully in the containers. For shipping I use either 10x8x6 or 9x7x5 box, hat is inside a clear poly bag with a layer of bubble wrap to prevent too much movement. Customers seem to like my packing method.

I usually keep them in for the thin material hats, if it's thicker, it usually holds it shape itself.

Starch doesn't do anything without heatm just skip tha b.s. and use the hairspray. It works great

Hello there. I was wondering if when you find a trucker farm cap that is new old stock and the foam is falling out of it. Is it better to sell it as is or clean off the foam?

I have a vintage Misfits mesh "trucker hat" that was signed by the guitarist but my father's dog ate half the mesh and snap back off my hat. Would you be able to make a video showing how to sew mesh from another hat to restore another like in my situation? It would be a huge help.

I just bought an AJD Super Stripe from the 1980s. Hat is in great shape except the white mesh is yellowed. What's the best way to restore the mesh back to white without impacting the rest of the hat? Thanks!

Can I ask why use hairspray rather than spray starch?
May not have been from this video, but I have seen in one or more of yours and multiple nother people use hairspray to help the hat hold it's shape.

I found this video because I have several vintage hats that suffered from foam deterioration, and I'm looking to replace the foam.
I'm hoping that someone made precut foam inserts that I could order, or at the least, someone could show me their process and techniques for replacing the foam in their hats. I don't want to settle for gimmicks or tricks of cardboard inserts and starch.

Hey man, do you think this restoration process would work to turn an unstructured low profile hat into an structured mid or high profile one?.
I also need replacement foam. Only thing I can think of is buying cheap new foam trucker hats and salvaging the foam from them, then selling the hat minus the foam. Or just go to a craft store and find some stiff comfortable foam thats thin.
@@MrWolfSnack I bought some foam from JoAnn's that's pretty close to the original foam. One side is iron on, and both sides have the mesh netting. I made a quick video about it on TikTok and posted here on UA-cam also.

I like to use plastic bags because you can pack as much as you want for shaping purposes.
Is it possible to replace the foam? Does anyone do true restorations?

@@cernochsconnection171 I have too many cool hats that need real work, I have one that needs visor replacement that is such a cool hat man but I think I will have to replace the fabric too if I unstitch, it's a satin nylon. By the way what is the best hat cleaning product?

I did it at least five times. There's only a way: gently remove the broken bill (I mean to nto damage the front of the hat) and replace it. In first paying attetion that is "centered" and not asymmetrical. Be ready with three needles wtih sewing threads already in. Helping with your hands to hold the bill in the right position start to FIX that thred to piece the interior border of the bill with the lower border of the front (be sure to put the needle when this side curve a little bit). Once you've fixed those three points (a central one and two aside) you'll be able to sew the whole border of the bill to the lower border of the front. Then rise up the sweatband and sew it to the bill. It sounds complicate, but the real difficult moment is when you fix the first three points of thread. The rest is not complicate, just loooooong. lol. Be sure to use the needles only in the inside part of the front. If you don't want to feel the unpleasant sorta "I glued it so I cannot say how long it will keep glued) teh only solution is using thread and needle in the way I suggested you.

awful restoration and not proper at all. cutting out original foam and putting a cardboard insert in with hairspray is far from proper.
