The worst thing about thai whole Cole, Drake and Kendrick discourse is how quickly and easily everybody forgets all the pain Cole has been putting in for the past few years while Kendrick was absent from the game all because of one good verse. Ive been seeing people say Cole never had a good album or good song in his whole career same with Drake. Those types of people are worse than stans theyre just driding in the opposite direction

I’ll be honest here. Cole’s fans are his worst enemies.. like most rappers. Kendrick fans shit on Cole because… Cole fans feel as if Cole should be considered number one based solely off his feature run. Cole does have Great albums but compared to drakes best and Kendrick’s , they aren’t above . Cole fans are quick to disregard the other two’s achievements and pretend these two haven’t or can’t rap. In short . I’ve had a Cole fan say Cole is better .. but then I asked him about Kendrick albums and he never heard them. It’s the immature reasonings and views.

He said he always had creative control, but he made sure to have that radio friendly track. Fulfilled his obligations and then things changed.

He Owns his masters after his 3rd album, His manager said they renegotiated after the third album and going forward they agreed to let Cole own his masters going forward. His manager said it in a interview.

Hov believed in him and gave that man an opportunity to change his life, and in turn his family and loved ones lives. Gave him the biggest co-sign you can possibly have in Hip Hop. That Hov/Roc co-sign alone comes with a whole fanbase already built in. Featured him on his BP3 album, and then gave Cole a verse for his debut album. Allowed him to develop as an artist instead of throwing him to the wolves. Put him in studio sessions with No ID early on. That’s knowledge you can’t possibly pay for.
And to Cole’s credit, he took that opportunity and ran with it. He always moved with purpose and with his own crew. He never needed his hand being held. And he’s better for it. Look at the legendary artist and executive he became. Hov should be very proud of him.
Also, Hov never shelved him, never held him back. And whenever Cole needed him, Hov was there for him. Cole just didn’t need much.
And as for the masters, that’s the game. That’s business. Hov had to buy back his own masters. Would’ve been fucked up if he chose NOT to sell them back to Cole. But he DID! Thats the music business, no handouts.
