Dude. Thank you. 6 minutes is where the solution is really found. Getting it to Mackie Control mode. If you're having issues with this, do this first. Step 1: Hold down SET, both MARKER buttons, and REWIND button then plug in. This will initilize the unit into Mackie Control mode. Without this mode, it does not work correctly Step 2: *Go to **1:54* Thank you for clarifying how to set i/o midi ports.
You are a godsend. Thank you so much for this clarification. I spent an hour pulling my hair out until your trick worked. I had scrapped my nano a year ago b/c I got fed up trying to get it programmed manually. Thx!
I was like you. Dude says *one minute* or less to install. He waffs for 7 minutes and left out a critical component on how to ensure this will work for EVERYONE who comes to this video. Could’ve been a much simpler tutorial without all the “personality” and claim to wiz through it in a minute. Not to mention he left the initialisation of the unit to the end of the video. I’m glad to have helped.
Thank you so much I was going crazy on it, but you are right the solution is around 5:34 of the video >>> HOLD DOWN ALL 3 MARKERS + REWIND button and plug in and it will work!
Thanks Bro !!!!! Once I reset the Korg nanoKONTROL2 holding down the four buttons, I connected the controller to the Mac . I went to the Control surface setup in Logic , I canceled the Korg nanoKONTROL2 , and I added the Mackie Control, and everything works, without even restarting Logic ..... just as you say !!!! thank you thank you thank you !!!!! Very important was to press the 4 buttons on the Korg nanoKONTROL2 and do the factory reset, then connect the Korg nanoKONTROL2 to the MacBook with the cable otherwise nothing worked before !!!! I use Logic Pro 10.7.2. on MacOs Big Sur 11.7
Thanks for this amazing tip! Did not work first, but after restart (the four buttons pressed as you mentioned) it has worked magically. Videos like this are the reason I watch youtube. Thumbs up!
Thanks So much Dude!!!! This video setup was amazing! It worked! I was having issues and almost returned the NanoKontrol2 thinking maybe I had bad one. But your fix got me back up and running!
Just got it yesterday and I also want to use it as a cc Controller. Any tips? I just connected it with the expression and dynamics, but I lose connection after ~ 10 minutes all the time...
Thanks Your video on this. It is the only one that has worked for me and I definitely did need to reset my board to Macke control. It would not work without the reset. I have two nanocontrol2s. Do you know how to make it so one takes care of track 1-8 and the second does tracks 9-16? I can get both boards to work but they are not playing well together.
You should be able to use the Track button to modulate what tracks are affected. In the video I show how reassign that Track button to modulate on track at a time instead of 8 at a time.
One question - whenever I quit and reopen Logic, Control Surface Setup opens first and nanoKONTROL2 doesn't work any more so I have to repeat this procedure all over again. Any solutions for that?
I could not find a workaround for that…. the best solution I found was to get really fast at the setup and do it before starting a studio session. You might be able to create a custom Zone and controls/parameters in Controller Assignments area…. but that takes a long time and might not be a permanent solution
Hi, Thank you for this video. It seems i have the same Logic as you, same nanoKontrol, but it doesn't work, do you have an idea please? I also unistal all old drivers etc... Thanks !!
i messed so much that i lost the settings omg. I downloaded a plug in of Korg for Logic Pro and i guess this made conflict. Ag the end i have the same result like you but with nanokontrol there in the setup. I honestly don’t know how this all work. I tried to delete the plugin folder to come back to this settings you show. It has also to do with reseting Logic Pro and the factory settings of the controller as well
Yeah, I don't know how it works exactly either. I can't figure out how to stop Logic Pro from recognizing the NanoKONTROL. Oh well, if I'm doing a long session and not closing and opening Logic a bunch, once it's set up once it's all good to go.
@@phatboxrecords going nack and forward i have it programmed as mackie again. but on setup it shows like nano kontrol with the correct icon. Now my issue is to use a button in the cs to switch from cc to mixer and vice versa. So we have one cs for both uses (what should be so obvious for devs omg!)
@@choosmusic9676 The Korg is still finnicky… you can use the same principles in this video to assign controls to the also midi mix. I also have an akai mpd that I use as a software controller and it’s bomb
You should be able to simply delete the Mackie control surface, unplug then plug back in the Nano and see it show back up. Try looking at the Apple forum link in the video notes and follow that exactly. Holler back if you have further issues

Dude, I've had this thing for years and could never get it to work so I gave up on it. This vid actually got things working! Thank you!
Thank you so much. This is what I wanted my nanoKontrol to do and not the expression things that everyone does.
Thanks Bro !!!!!

Same here. Was super frustrated. But that 4 button press thing worked 👍
You're the man. Some of these other videos, yikes. I was getting overwhelmed.
bro, best video ever. You saved me so much time!
Thank you man! Didn't know that NanoKontrol had a Mackie Mode which you can switch to. Very helpful!
man this is like a dream come true! i can finally properly arrange while improvising! thx. Nothing than a good amateur video
You sir are a life saver!!!! finally my nanoKontrol studio works perfect! You're the only video to have helped! thanks so much!!

Hey does this fix still work on the latest Logic Pro X?
@@amukherg yes... It still works for me. It's been the fastest fix I viewed after watching several others.

I LOVE YOU 🤪GRACIAS desde argentina

Thank you man, awesome video!

I think you'll want to set it up the same way... just do Learn mode to assign controls to the hardware.
Amazing Video, really useful! Thank yous so much!😁👍🏼
it worked!!! much appreciated!
Thank you so much!
Thanks a lot! was really helpful! God bless!!!

Try the "four button reset" towards the end of the video.

So if you have more than 8 tracks you’d like to KONTROL, do you just got to track 9 and now it will KONTROL tracks 9-17 and so on?
Yep! You should be able to use the Track button on the controller without having to reassign to control tracks 1-8 or 9-XX
This didn't work for me.
Never mind, once I reset it holding down the four buttons, I was good.
Thanks!!!
