    James, in the first half Lo-Celso was playing in the Sarr position, not Maddisons. Kulusevski was the 10. So you can't really criticise him for picking the ball up in deep areas when that's his role in that position. In the second half he was much higher up the field.

    You're underselling Lo Celso because he wasn't playing in the madders role he was playing in the Sarr role. He had 100% pass accuracy and didn't lose the ball once. Lo Celso was the stabilizer because Bissouma was garbage and the one supposed to be in the area you point out is Kulu not Lo Celso.

    • @calumroche2851

      I agree, Maddison drops deep like Lo Celso did to help build up from the back, that's part of our game and not an error.

      @shaneb4612 6 місяців тому +6

      I couldn't agree any more. Biss had a mare of a game. Lo Celso, was the stabilizer in the Sarr role. With Cuti in the backline I think he'll solidify our defence. VDV is our biggest loss. VDV & Romero were on fire & in the first 8 or 9 games they were the best defensive pair in the league. Don't forget we had 11 out of the squad of 25, out with injury or suspension.

    Hasnt been said Jim, Kulusevski’s performance was probably the best on the pitch across both halfs. Man was killing it in the number 10 role in the first half then came in on the right in the second and scored the equalizer. Soon the titles may be “How Postecoglou unlocked Kulusevski”. Hes covered more ground than any other player in the prem, his work rate is ridiculous, and its all going under the radar.

    • @BeatPoet67
      @BeatPoet67 6 місяців тому +1

      I disagree. I was critical of Kulu at the start of the season. He always put in a shift - but play always slowed down with him and he took the easy ball inside way too often. However, he's become a beast in the last few games. He's far more likely to drive into gaps and cause chaos - because the guy is an absolute unit. And as a result his confidence is growing enormously. He's a vastly improved player now.

    I hear what you're saying about City's narrow press and Spurs not having the quality to play those long balls, but there were a good few occasions where we did manage to beat the press and play those passes. Son's goal for example and that pass to Johnson when he took it round Gvardiol. Think the players definitely deserve more credit given the opponent and our current squad.

    Hey Jim, an old dry slug here.
    Don't forget we had 11 or 12 out of the squad of 25, out with injury or suspension. That's almost half of our squad. VDV is our biggest loss. VDV & Romero were on fire & in the first 8 or 9 games they were the best defensive pair in the league. They have the stats to prove it. With Ange it's almost a flash back to the Brisbane Roar days. Roar played a slightly less evolved system than what Spur's are play now. Roar out scored just about everyone in the A League. Ange has now managed 3 of my teams I follow &/or support; Brisbane Roar (A League), Yokohama FM (J League) & now the mighty Spurs (EPL), & how can I forget he also managed our beloved Socceroos'.

    What am I listening to here? Doku's name was mentioned about 100 times. For Son, about 4. And then James briefly mentioned how Son beat Doku. Strange. Son scores an amazing goal by himself, blows past the fastest City player, and all we gwt is a 2-second mention of Son. Meanwhile, all we hear about is Doku. What did we actually learn? Isnt that the point of this video? I can yell you what I learned: At times, Son is surrounded by mediocre teammates but somehow keeps the Spurs in every game. This was a clear example.

    Bissouma’s losing the ball that led to 3-2 is also based on Ange’s philosophy.
    He could pass to someone nearby but chose to penetrate through a circle formed by three Mancity players. If that was successful, Tottenham could have scored a goal, making 2-3.
    There is no reward if you don’t take a risk, which is one of Ange’s philosophy.
    That’s why Bissouma is to be praised, not criticized.

    Good points on the narrow press vs Tottenham, though few teams will be able to execute it at Citeh's level. Villa did well yet (as for Citeh today) the game should have been put to bed by Spurs in the first half with all the chances they created. If you allow 3 goals in a home game - then obviously the narrow press was not the right move here. The first goal is testament to that, Son pretty much ended up being 1:1 with Doku and you don’t want Son 1:1 against any of your players. Because of the narrow press there was no one wide enough to catch up with Son’s run and add some pressure / challenge him in his run

    Interesting take but a few glaring omissions. City hit the post/crossbar at least twice. An inch or two different and those are two goals and that completely changes the game state. Though that's a lot of should/would/could and comes down to luck, to a degree.
    The other is that this is Man City version C or D. No Stones and no KDB. City with both of those available and their other midfield options available is a completely different prospect and I'd be massively surprised if the one sidedness of the Doku team doesn't just disappear. kDB can put the ball pretty much wherever he wants to and Stones in alongside Rodri solidifies City

      Kulusevski down the middle is a monster, his work rate his best utilised in the midfield imo. On the wing he is slightly too predictable cutting inside and being very left footed, but in the centre he has the potential to be an absolute beast

    Practically zero credit given by you to Spurs in this videos says a lot about your inherent bias here. Spurs went to the Etihad with a depleted squad missing a lot of starters and were noticeably the better team in the 2nd half, yet you've focused your entire analysis on City.

    Believe me, dark forces and fate are at work here ..... there is a reason why NO team in 140-150 years of history has ever WON four titles running ... it's because history does NOT want them to!
    As well as Tottenham played, it's 'History' that is dictating Citys stuttering results and faltering defence of their title .... and the worse bit for Tottenham fans is that it will leave the title door open for your rivals Arsenal , or Liverpool.
    Erling Haalands frustration at the final whistle didn't just boil down to a late and 'iffy' refereeing decision ... it infuriated him mainly because of the two first half sitters that he missed, which would have made all the difference .... totally inexplicable misses from a usually reliable goalscorer, and one's directed by this 'historical fate' affecting City!

      Even if City are found guilty of something, that doesn`t mean that they are the only ones cheating. Simon Hooper seems to give Spurs every possible advantage he can within the rules, and that wasn`t any different against City then it was against Liverpool.
      FFP is a horrible system, that only really benefits the clubs with the most fans(so it should be replaced entirely.)
