Andrew Gaug Oh stop it. You might not have enjoyed this movie, but acting like it didn't do anything new when it so obviously did is absolute bullshit. Training raptors, having an entire resort with bars, eating establishments, hotel accommodations, feeding shows with the aquatic dinosaur and the T-Rex, engineering new hybrid dinosaurs - there is tons of new stuff and things to enjoy. And yeah, they reference the old movies, which apparently you don't like, but... that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of cool new stuff as well. Just because you don't like a movie it doesn't mean you have to create made-up reasons to hate on it.

Just seen it. And, Ben's analysis is right on. The movie is a solid 7.0 - 7.5. It's formulaic and bland characters, but what it does well is it gets your heart pounding and will scare the crap out of you during the dino scenes. If you're looking for character development or kick ass dialog this movie's not for you. But, if you can get past a lot of implausible things like a woman out running a T-Rex while she's wearing high heels, or running through a jungle wearing heels, or riding ATV's 50 MPH in the jungle at night, and you simply want to be entertained, then go see it. This got applause from the theater goers during the credits. So, everyone/most in attendance liked the movie.

Keith Ballard Tilikum, a SeaWorld whale that killed three still being used to breed. The fact is, we never actually see any visitors killed, only park staff. Over the years, many zoo visitors have been killed. I admit that it was mostly because said visitors where stupid, but I don't see any reason why Jurassic World wouldn't eventually be reopened. Even if they had to promise no new carnivores (or any at all), it would still open again. The first park tragedy was due to sabotage and the second was human error; this simply means that new protocols would need to be enacted.

The fact these guys hated this movie just proves that they are utterly arrogant......that they are sooooo superior in their "taste".....waaaaaay smarter, and more clever than us poor slobs. • @impactQuake

Better Jurassic movies? The only better one is the first one. And not because it was "better" but because it was ground breaking for it times.
    I mean 'cmon:
-Hammond was greedy and old (that's what I remember about him)
-Chick was bland like a butter or sand paper. I just know she liked Triceratops shit.
-Jeff... well.. aaa... eee... chaos theory. That's it. Nothing more.
-Alan was ok but in my opinion he was just boring.
-Kids... omg. Their role was only to scream or run. Oh gril "hacked" doors and Timy fapped the fuck out of the chair she was sitting on. I wouldn't call that character development.
Story: They want to create Jurassic "Park"/"World" but shit goes down because of a storm (well done). THAT'S IT. NOTHING MORE.
We love JP because it had ground breaking effects for it times, huge dinosaurs and cool music.
Guess what. JW got more interesting characters, new take on dinosaurs, same kick-ass music, kids weren't so annoying and this [mini spoiler] final fight... [mini spoiler off]
The only lack was in "effects" but c'mon. Look for graphic and effects upgrade from early 90' to early 00' and from I don't know 2005 until now. It's got slower and it's hard to jump over it.
This is the second best JP movie in the series for me. It was really enjoyable, had everything that JP had except being "ground breaking" which I wasn't even counting for.
For me it's solid 7 or 8 out of 10. I had a lot of fun with that movie.
Sorry for my broken english btw.

i'm really getting sick of the whole "well what were you expecting" comments. it's a lazy excuse for poorly made movies. what if Christopher Nolan went into the dark knight saying " oh, well it's just a guy in a bat suit who fights a clown, whatever..." or the people behind the new planet of the apes franchise said " oh, it's just talking apes with machine guns riding horses, who cares..." no matter what the premise, a movie needs to handle the material and it's audience with respect, because lazy film making brings bad movies.

Reviewers have fun mulling over how to express their negatives clearly, hence they tend to spend more time on those negatives. Mark Kermode is a prime example: a great reviewer, but one who spends more time on the negatives than on the positives. If reviewers were capable of condensing their views into on sentence (they usually try to string together a number of clauses until the sentence becomes way too long to make sense, just to get their moaning in), these reviews would be shorter, more reflective of their actual opinions, but much less entertaining.

    • @ClydeNut
      @ClydeNut 9 років тому

movieman175 they give more good reviews than bad. you just selectively choose to watch reviews for garbage blockbusters like this, which of course they're going to be critical of because they can be objective about it, unlike fanboy drones that love anything with loud noises. filmgoers are getting dumber and dumber by the year and you're part of the problem.

Cut down Bryce Dallas Howard, she ruined this movie. Take out the militarization of the dinosaurs, put Judy Greer and her husband into the Movie so they experience this crazy adventure with their children. Instead of the babysitter go through this horrific death make it the dad so you get some kind of sympathy. This movie sucks for smallest things. It's a fun movie and that's about the best I can say for it. The action scenes are good, the dinosaurs look good, there's some interesting stuff going on with the "story" (it's a very loose story, more just a plot for the fun stuff to happen). My biggest issue with it is the acting and dialogue. The character stuff, essentially. Especially the family stuff at the beginning... it's just sooooooo fake and cliche. I hate the mother's cutesy voice to her son. I hate the obvious winking at the camera, "If something chases you... run." Yeah, no mother would be like that when she's sending her kids off to an island full of dinosaurs that's infamous for a tragedy taking place on it. No, she cries about her sister being a bad aunt instead. Yeah, okay. The emotional moments between characters feel so forced... nobody cares about the ghost you saved your brother from. They're in the middle of a disaster taking place, you don't have to go bringing up completely unrelated ghost stories to have an emotional moment between two characters. I also think the feminists have a point with this movie. The female characters are handled terribly. Why is it that the kids, after have just witnessed Claire save Owen from the pterodactyl, only want to stay with Owen? They were just impressed with her in the previous scene and were all, "Whoa, is that Aunt Claire?"... but then in the very next scene, they're all "We want to stay with HIM! Definitely him!" It makes no sense and feels like a forced joke to say that kids would rather stick with a man than a woman. They hadn't seen Owen do anything badass at that point besides get attacked by a pterodactyl, kiss their aunt and drive backwards. Oh, but he's got muscles, so they feel safer with him... And the rest of the female characters are just crying the whole time. That girl in the control room was ridiculous... when she gets on the radio to tell the guys to get out of the Indominus Rex cage, why does she act like she's just watched Terms of Endearment or something? She's on the verge of tears. She can't have an authoritative, yet concerned expression and tone of voice... no, she's a woman, so she has to be weepy. Laura Dern must have been rolling her eyes when she saw this movie and recalling her line, "Look... we can discuss sexism in survival situations when I get back."
Overall, the movie was just too tongue-in-cheek for me. The problem is escapsulated in BD Wong's performance, for me. The fact that he can't keep a straight face throughout his entire performance. He's the only one who knows what working on the original film was like, so the difference from that to working on this movie must have made it hard to take seriously.
But yeah, other than that it's a fun summer blockbuster. Good to take your mind off things for a couple hours and watch some good old dinosaur action. IMO, The Lost World is a better sequel, as it actually feels serious and dark like the original, whereas this one looks and feels like a shiny Hollywood production. For all the flaws that Lost World has, it still has Spielberg's direction, and that at least gives it a proper tone, good acting, a legitimate sense of tension and pacing, etc... It's an actual movie. Jurassic World is nothing more than a fun romp for a couple hours.

  • @TheBeattySupreme

Everyone but Ben is insane. Clearly this isn't in the same ballpark as the first Jurassic Park movies, but it is light years ahead of any of the sequels and for a popcorn summer movie it does a wonderful job. I thought it had a couple very meta moments, I completely disagree and thought it jumped right into the action, the divorce plot line was just a plot device to set up why the children would be on the island without their parents and it did it's job, the raptors being good guys was awesome, the second the Indominus rex talked to the raptors was awesome, when she lets out the original t-rex it was AWESOME (come on, you know that was awesome), the pterodactyls getting out was great. My only problem with the movie is that there is no way those two kids knew how to fix a jeep. That was the only "come on" moment for me. That one line of dialogue wasn;t doing it. But seriously, you really don't think people would be ready for another Jurassic Park after 20 years? They're already ready for another Bush!

Jason Beatty I agree. Sure, there were campy moments in the movie, and of course there was plenty of nostalgia. It's criticized for being too cliche, but also lambasted for having too much exposition by one of the reviewers. It's like they were looking for reasons to hate it.
Personally, I went in to the movie expecting something terrible. I didn't pay for a ticket (though I suppose that didn't stop me from spending 20 dollars on a mediocre amount of confections,) and if taken back and given a chance, I would have. It was a huge surprise. Was the movie amazing? No. But I certainly enjoyed myself.

These people don't give the movies they watch a chance for what they are. I've seen many reviews by these guys and every one is the same in giving all new movies shit. Don't get me wrong there are terrible movies out there but this ain't one of them. They find the littlest things and complain about it. But whatever to each their own i guess. I absolutely loved "Jurassic World" it was amazing, it pays homage to the past films and it's another great chapter of Jurassic Park. I was on the edge of my seat, I thought everything was on point and I left the theaters damn happy and money well spent. But you guys are terrible at reviews. If you think you can make a "perfect/great" movie I'd like to see you guys try.

I just jave to disagree with this review. I loved this movie. I think part of the hate it seems, stems from how much they loved the original. In their eyes, I feel, no matter how good this is nothing could live up to it. Dont get me wrong, I love the original as well. But I feel like reviewers get hit with that nostalgia bug, and cant enjoy something for what it is.
Are there some things wrong with this movie? A few things I could have done without, like the whole parent divorce thing. The romance didnt bother me that much as I expected that to be the case. I mean it just makes sense. Two attractive people usually are gonna be interested in one another. But they did do the most cliche movie thing ever. Which if you've seen the movie you know what I mean. Now I could go into all the things that work in this movie, but I dont have time right now. I would be happy to list them a little later.

yoboyrob201 This movie deserves a solid 8/10. Critics and online reviews are raping it over it not being as good as the first, that's not good at all. Nostalgia should not hurt the production and creativity of sequels in films, people should not expect it to be the an grand introduction over and over to a film series. This is the movie were I said, I won't listen to critics and listen to the users and man I'm glad I did and your completely correct.

T-Rex didn't even exist in the Jurassic period, they were only in the Cretaceous period, but that is not what pisses me off. I have always hated the original movie.
The original movie watered down Hammond to the point where it made the movie make no sense. In the book he was more like the bad guy from Lethal Weapon 2, and not some doddering grandpa limping from scene to scene with a stupid grin on his face.
In the book, Hammond is a greedy, selfish prick who created the park because he didn't want his billions of dollars wasted on disease research, because, if a cure was found, it would be regulated, and he would never make his R&D money back, but entertainment is not regulated, hence, the idea for the park.
Everyone says it was a breakthrough movie because of the SFX and I see that, but you can still have good FX and a prick as a main character. Why they watered down the entire plot is baffling and it ruins the movie for me. I am not even sure why they included the part about Nedry stealing the embryos if they weren't going to make Hammond a cutthroat businessman instead of Willie Wonka.
I would have preferred a more honest version in the original, where Hammond is just a selfish asshole and gets everyone, including himself killed or exiled from their home countries at the end.

Why do some people take fictional movies so seriously? Half of the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park weren't around in the Jurassic period. Realism is not the priority. The priority is an exciting thrill ride of a movie. I'm with Ben. Suspend your belief and just enjoy the movie. I loved it. It had a fair few "WTF" moments and also included some nostalgia.

Alonso was seriously misleading about the movie. There was a time early on when characters were developed, but there was not too much of it. And they did build up the menace of the dinosaurs during that period, Alonso made it sound like it was all family fluff. The movie fully delivered on the theme of dinosaurs being dinosaurs, and also, dinosaurs chasing and eating people. The plot was kinda by the numbers and predictable, but hell, the movie delivered the cheese that I came for. I'm glad I didn't take Alonso's opinion seriously.

Ok, I liked this movie, it was worth the money I spent for my mother and I to see it. But man, it wasn't "good". The story line is jumpy, the pacing is bad, the editing was horrible, and things appear and disappear immediately when the plot requires.
    Some bad things:
There are action scenes that are strait out of the initial alien ambush in the movie Aliens. Characters appear and disappear from the story. It's a huge Mercedes and iPhone/iPad commercial. I was super impressed with the girls 4 inch heels - she does battle w a Dino, runs, saves kids all without breaking a heel or ankle. They get the dinosaur count off... No shirtless jeff goldblum.
    Some good things:
The wit is pretty good. The visuals were special. The actors did good with what they were given. It was nice to see in 3d.

I don't get why some people weren't thrilled by this movie. The I-Rex was a real monster, one of the scarier things I've seen in a while. I was totally into this movie from start to finish, agree with Ben. Even though many things weren't well done, there was enough good stuff throughout. Every commentary on this movie starts with: Why did they open a new park after what happened? Well it's not really that surprising. If the technology were available, I don't doubt people would find a way to use it. And in the end, it's kind of like a zoo, but bigger. There is no reason why a park could never work.

I completely disagree with Ben. You open a park with dinosaurs you will never need " other attractions". The hole bio-engineered I-Rex felt completely crap and ruined all the immersion.
Also, militarising raptors is the most stupid, retarded concept. Even if the army would need such " weapons" you could use fucking tigers. I mean, they are probably faster, certainly more agile and stealthy. And we have trained them in circuses for years (maybe centuries now).
The hole movie was full of dump, retarded moments and concepts, but in the end it was enjoyable to some degree and the final fight was awesome.

It has lessons and wonder in it but is more action-heavy.
