I believe dBr is decibel relative, so, as you mentioned in the caption, it's the relative difference between existing ambient noise and its own. dBa is A-weighted, which is to technical to get into here, but there is also C-weighted and others for use in different situations. Using relative measurements for this type of equipment is all most people really need and is an easy practical way to determine how much noise this thing is going to add to your existing environment.

dB relative their background noise described in the footnote. Assuming measured at one metre since nearer gives results totally unusable due to root mean square and propagation errors.

Opening you own stuff will not void the warranty. According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act it is illegal for companies to deny warranty claims just because you removed a "Warranty Void if Removed" sticker in fact I believe it's actually illegal to even put those stickers on products anymore.

That happened to me with the AR APP so i fixed it by actually replacing the old switch with the new one, for some reason if you have that switch connected through rj45 using another switch the AR Code actually doesn't comes up unless you are using one of the SFP port.
    hope my answer helped

@CrosstalkSolutions : DBr means Decibels relative to reference levels; DBa is a weighted reference model for sound pressure at a given frequency (IE: 100 Dba @ 100hz for example). DB refers to the raw measured sound level with no bias.
The Dba scale was based on a child's hearing and based on real tests to characterize how a person responds to noise.
There's some math involved in the DBa data that i'm not going to dive into because that part makes my head hurt and don't understand it well enough, the majority of the internet is likely much better at logarithms and algebra than i could ever hope to be.

Didn’t see any other comments on the AR not showing the QR code on the one switch but showing it on the other. I tried the AR with the UDM Pro. When I setup the 24 Poe Pro it didn’t show up either for the AR. I had to delete my my configured rack in the UniFi Network app with only the UDM Pro and set it up again and the AR now works for both.

I had to remove the UDM Pro from the AR profile then add them both back in. Once they were both added AR picked them both up.

Great video as usual - best box throw EVER ;-)
BTW wonder why they did away with the passive 24v - those with legacy AP won't be able to use these new Gen 2' - I purchased (by mistake) a Gen 2 US-16-PoE thinking it was a 16 port PoE and its not - its 8 ports of PoE and 8 non PoE - very misleading - Ok Ok dig deeper and the specs tell you - BUT no Passive :-(

@Crosstalk Solutions both my layer 2+ / 3 D-Link and Netgear switches have static routing and DHCP functions! I DO APOLOGIZE for using curse words such as D-Link and Netgear but, hardware wise they offer similar or superior features at lower prices in SMALL form factor envelopes with quiet-ish cooling for closet and possibly desk usage(3+ years ago). EDIT: also great unboxing

The void if removed sticker means nothing in the US(not sure about other countries). The FTC has a law that makes the sticker pointless. A company cannot deny a claim based on the sticker being removed. It's illegal per the FTC

  • @michaelljones2
    @michaelljones2 4 роки тому +1

Didn't scroll down to see if anyone else answered. Here is what I THINK are the differences between DBa and DRr. DBa is the A weighting for DB measurement, meaning the meter is 'adjusting' for the human hearing range and giving you the loudest sounds at the most 'relevant' level you can hear (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weighting_filter). DBr is DB relative to a reference, meaning it's how much louder the switch is relative to some reference level (see whatis.techtarget.com/definition/decibels-relative-to-reference-level-dBr as an example). If I'm looking at the chart correctly, they are citing the reference level as 27.5 DBa, so what you are seeing on the chart is how much louder than that reference the switch is at various loads.
That said, sound is not uniformly loud across a space based on a ton of factors. And what they aren't telling you, at least in what you shared in the video, is the distance or location relative to the vent from which that measurement was taken (in the video you measure directly at the exit port which is clearly the 'loudest' location). Sounds increase or decreases as a square (or inverse square), so when you move away sound level goes down faster relative to distance than just a purely linear equation.
Honestly, it's largely marketing mumbo-jumbo without that detail, as they could have put a wet sock over the detector to make it look 'quiet'. You won't know until you put it in your space and run it with you load how loud it will be or how noticeable it will be TO YOU. Humans are also imperfect audio receivers after all.

All devices should be racked to run AR on all Devices. First time it detects the switch or UDM-Pro that is on top and after that you will only get one QR to watch all of them one by one navigating with the arrows. Its cool feature to have documentation about all the links in a rack mount.

    • @yeasturianin

Something seems way off and their maximum operating temperature seems REALLY low. Its 104 ambiant here all the time, something don't add up...

The fans are definitely loud at baseline compared with what they say - they are very audible even at baseline. They are NOT quiet switches for home use. Just got mine today and I’m returning it as it is nowhere NEAR as quiet as they claim. 40% fan with NO load and mine is over 50% with even 1 AP attached. And the fan speed on the front screen is just a temporary thing, as soon as you take your finger off the button it goes back to Auto, you CANNOT switch the fan speed permanently
