The touching tale of „Typist Artist Pirate King“ is inspired by the work of the forgotten artist Audrey Amiss. Director Carol Morley imagines Audrey on an eccentric trip across England, with her psychiatric nurse as her reluctant chauffeur. The viewer is taken on a figurative cruise through Amiss' many odd adventures, as well as her mental health struggles.
Carol Morley is an English film director, screenwriter, and producer. Morley’s films include “The Alcohol Years”, a BAFTA nominated film about her troubled teenage past, “Dreams of a Life”, a drama-documentary about a woman who lay dead in her flat undiscovered for three years, and “The Falling”, a mystery drama set in a girls' school in England in 1969. “Typist Artist Pirate King” is her fifth and latest full-length feature film.
Monica Dolan has the role of the lead character in the film. She was born into an Irish family in the UK. Monica is a supremely versatile character actress, she has tended to specialize in stunning portrayals of the darker side of life. She has received a BAFTA award.
