    I heard this song on the radio in my mother's car at 2004. Then there wasn't internet anywhere near me and noone knew the name of the song, to tell me. But a small part of it was stuck in my head for all these years. I wondered many times about the name of the song. I even thought I made the melody up at some point. I finally found it, 3 minutes ago. I'm happy.

    Imagine watching the ESC at 6 years old and being amazed by this song's magic ability to take you to a totally imaginary world, without being able to explain to anyone for years to come which song it was. At some point, I thought I imagined it all in my head. And many years later, when I first used the internet, I searched and searched and searched. I cannot explain the feeling of finding it and listening to it after so much time. I am now 25, and it still takes me to the same magical world, as if I always understood what a non-existing language portraited. AMAZING entry.

    How is that possible that a song that has no meaning makes me feel more emotions than many other more current ESC songs?

    • @leclercqthibaut5288
      @leclercqthibaut5288 5 років тому +82

      That proves well that you don't need to understand the lyrics to feel the emotion of a song and that there is, therefore, no reason for all the countries to sing in English.

      As a linguiste I can tell that words are only tools to mean something. The communication is a larger science that includes any gestures etc. (They are more powerful then words when it comes to communication). Here in Eurovision, its the songs and singers that make a winner, lyrics are sometimes important too( 1944 Ukraine)

    The song is remarkable for a number of reasons. Perhaps the most readily apparent is that it was the first occasion that a song not in a natural language had been performed at the Eurovision Song Contest (prompting the famous remark of BBC commentator Terry Wogan "They've got 4 languages in Belgium and they're singing in an imaginary one, the very essence of the Euro

      @@gozdea5548 doksanlarda irlanda'nın peş peşe birincilikleri tamamen saçmalıktı. İrlanda'nın 1993'teki şarkısı hariç geri kalan şarkıları iğrenç ötesi tek kelimeyle. Ama yine 1993'te en iyi şarkı İrlanda'nınki olmadığı hâlde birinci oldular. Maalesef bu yarışmayı en iyiler kazanmıyor. Jüri üyeleri sadece İngilizce anladıkları için İrlanda'ya UK'a puan yağdırdıklarını düşünüyorum o dönemlerde. 1998'de İbranice şarkı kazandı ama Dana cinsel kimliğiyle öne çıkmasaydı kazanabilir miydi, sanmıyorum. Eurovision da bu yüzden dili serbest bıraktı bence. Ama pislik pisliği doğurdu başka şey olmadı Aslında işin rengi SSCB, Yugoslavya ve diğer komünist rejimler dağılıp Eurovision'a katılımcı sayısı artınca oldu. Doksanlarda İngilizce takıntısı öyle boyuta ulaşmış ki 1994 Polonya yarışmacısı provalarda İngilizce söylemiş şarkısını hatta bu yüzden diskalifiyesi istenmiş. O şarkı bile iğrenç geliyor bana ama 2. olmuş. Eurovision sanatsal bir yarışma değil asla.
      Sertab konusuna gelecek olursam oryantal ezgi ne demek nasıl olur bu şarkıdaki rolü nedir (Sertab erener şarkıyı yapmayı 15 dakikada bitirdiklerini söylemiştir) anlamadım. İşin özü canlı orkestranın yasaklandığı, kendi ulusal dilinde söyleyenlerin cesur ilan edildiği ancak takdir edilmediği, büyük beşli adı altında bazı ülkelere imtiyaz verilen ve dünyanın ucundan getirilip baş tacı edilen Avustralya'nın var olduğu, ve artık oylamanın bile kısa kesilmesinden dolayı tadı kaçmış bir yarışmayı takmam artık. Nerde o "Belgium one point, Ön pua la belcîk" diye 12ye kadar sayılan puanlama, nerde şimdiki. 😂😂
      Çok uzun yazmışım ama özür dilerim şunu da yazmadan edemeyeceğim, 1997'de Şebnem yerine UK değil de İtalya kazansaydı yeminle üzülmezdim. İtalya'nın şarkısı, şarkıcısının sesi ve yorumculuğu o senenin Birleşik Krallığı'na da İrlanda'sına da bin bedeldi. Şebnem Paker de aynı şekilde İrlanda'dan da UK'tan bin kat iyiydi.

Dinle basta olmak uzerek besinci mevsim de cok iyiydi. UA-cam da duruyorsa oylama bolumunu dinleyin derim BBC yayinindan ingiliz sunucular Sebnem 3. olunca cok sasirip o da ne oyle diye dalga gecmislerdi. Allah'in sopasi iste...

      Well, I think that the fact that so few comments here state this is no coincidence. I do believe that Belgium had the best song of 2003 (a very strong year anyway) and the presentation was at least decent BUT Turkey had one of the most deserved winners ever. Sertab actually changed the flow of Eurovision history. And she changed it to something I really adored so I'm almost happy about my favorite song not winning. Yes Sanomi is great music for me, as this new age ethnic really touches me and I find the concept of no real language lyrics absolutely brilliant. But excellence around this field had already shined bright in the 90s. Norway 1995 & 1996, Ireland 1996, Sweden 1996 had given us much to love. 2003 was the ethnic bob dance-show spectacle's time to shine and it rightfully did so. Yet, Belgium 2003 is the strongest and fairest runner-up of the century so far.
