Soundcraft Spirit 8 (16/8/2) Mixing Console Restoration - Clean, Repair & Rebuild (eBay Pickup)

In this video I restore the favorite mixer I own and current workhorse, A 1990 Soundcraft Spirit 8 (16 channel) pro audio mixing desk that I picked up on eBay in a bad, neglected condition. The unit is EX-Hire and had been sat in a warehouse unused for some time as a user lost the power supply, or so I was told.
I filmed the entire restoration process from the day I got my hands on it through to very recently where I'm actively using the console on most of my gigs at events with live bands.
This video was shot over some few months while I was also studying at University and working. In between writing essays and doing the practical work I worked on this console with any time I got, where possible.
The mixer is made up of 16 mono channels and 4 stereo channels, These can be routed into the 8 groups and then the 2 masters for left and right. There are also two additional mix matrix master outputs. The console was manufactured in or around 1990.
The desk had been entirely neglected when I got it and spent a long time gathering dust and filth in a lockup somewhere. Been bits of rust and dirt had gathered over the mixing surface and inside the chassis too from where the desk may have caught some damps.
I completely tear down the mixer to every single part - the channel scrips, cables and screws then thoroughly clean every piece before re-building it up and repairing any faults found along the way or replacing parts until I reached a fully working state.
I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it. I no doubt some people will probably say I spent too much time and effort on this desk but quite frankly I don't care! It's now my favorite console to work on of every desk I own! (Sorry to my poor little previously-restored Spirit Live 4..).
It is now used very, very regularly out on gigs for both live sound and recording using a Tascam US-16x08 USB audio interface connected to the direct outputs.
