I tried really hard to like this mod, but playing mutlple factions starts i have to say that the only TWO seasons (Summer/Winter) are horrible gameplay wise, since you take attrition every other turn in many parts of the map or are forced into an encampment stance, which really hinders your progress and offensives. Second is the unit balancing. Some Archers and especially crossbows have hillariously short range. The starting crossbow unit of Demnark for example has such a short range (during winter?) that it rivals that of JAVELIN units of DEI. They went so far that i couldnt see them any more with my two army standing outside of their ONLY settlement which they just left... @ yeah definitely give the mods a shot. They add a vast array of units that should honestly just be added to 1212, and it’s not just for Western Europe you get new units in just about every faction in the game, granted only if they managed to exist in the late 15th to early 16th century.
To be honest, it’s taken over half a decade, not throwing shade at 1212, but it went too long. 1100 ad is more flushed out and is in my opinion a better option
1100 is not it for me. Also I feel its a mistake to do it on Rome 2 (aside from it not having constantinople) the whole game layout and UI just gives me those classical ancient greece vibes. My biggest issue with this mod is the performance of it. I have a mid/high-end PC and I really struggle to run this mod. Have tried all performance mods, settings etc. Thought it was just Atilla but, while Atilla is badly optimised, vanilla is nowhere near as bad as with 1212AD. Settlement maps particularly! Not fond of playing sieges when I am running at 25FPS.
Realy? I had problem only in one huuuge custome siege battle. Others it was smooth ride on my old gaming laptop. Never tried it on my new PC tho. It is possible, that newer CPUs has some problems with it?
Personally, in regards to Attila. I find with my high end pc as well. It struggles. Have done all the options. But then I gave age of Charlemagne a try. And that runs better than Attila itself. When it's a DLC for Attila. 😂. Either way, it's the only way I can enjoy Attila without the poor optimization. I've heard it's better optimized than the base game. Which doesn't make sense. But if you got the extra cash or drive. Worth trying out to see if that works.
@@lewiswills103 try fixing your preferences script file. the thread count is often not correct. that's an Attila issue but it helps 1212 run. it shouldn't be needed on high end PC's though.

Med 1212 is one of the big mods of total war because it proved that the newer total games could be modded on a scale like a Med II mod such as Broken Crescent. Remember that it was not easy back then, in the days of Rome II to make an overhaul mod while changing the look of cities. What 1100 AD accomplished was great, and is great. But I urge TW Community, a mod like this back in the old days would have 4-5 mods. Now you're getting Med 3 for free without CA ever even announcing it. We must not give up on 1212. I can't help much, but I am writing to say if you have the talent do it. Let's get 1212 finished. Dawnless Days is doing well because its a core passionate team of people that love the LOTR universe. 1212 requires a lot of talented map makers. So it's not that hard to figure out. I hope the TW modding community will also come to revive Med 1212 development as well
Still craving for a addition of the “Duchy of Holland” and first and foremost a fix to detail tab of buildings (sometimes it just shows you nothing). Also a fix to the HRE system would be nice (not the faction itself)
I just went on a huge run with this mod last months. I absolutely love it. Can't get enough. I just wish you could have a 12 or 24 turns per year. My King dies way too quick. This mod is truly awesome.
The problem with this mod is that it has become a separate game at this point with the amount of things that need to be reworked or added for their vision. With a project like DEI, it was a matter of just buffing the shit out of what you had at a baseline and adding a few things here and there. This is so ambitious and time consuming that I can't imagine most people's drive would last almost 10 years after launch.
i love this mod i am actually checking every day discord if anything new comes out i love it i have hundreds hours on it and cannot wait for big update
Attila TED is a NOTORIOUS buggy software that CA haven't even bothered updating for a very long time. The battle maps aren't buggy, it's the software and the lack of good tutorials for a game made in 2015 on how to mod maps. I can say this as I've used this software and it is so sad...its a great software tool but it needs some updating or something.

Thanks for another great information video! Wouldnt otherwise know about HRE submod - which, to be honest, we needed really bad. The game mechanics of HRE are awfully restricting. Especially when unpredictable annoying AI doesnt makes the diplomacy inside HRE anyhow sustainable. Will try tommorow!
Hey Eren! Yes I will be, I had some issues with my set up last time I tried to stream I'm just trying to resolve those. Mostly the problem is my laptop is a bit dated now haha
The mod is currently in good shape except for one issue: battle maps Maps are so huge and because of that battle are so easy to win. I can win whole the battles using just 4 cav. Units. Ai’s passiveness also an element but the real problem is battle maps. You must make them like warhammer maps i mean more arena like. This way a player cannot destroy enemy army by destroying units piece by piece.
Not saying people aren't justified in these thoughts, but I find it a little odd people think the mod's lagging when it typically updates about once a year and the last update was around 6-9 months ago. Obviously some people leaving would slow down progress, but we haven't heard anything from the team about them asking for any new/ replacement positions. From the 1212 Discord AFAIK, everything's relatively fine rn.
I've had a terrible experience on their discord, full of nihilistic dudes, totally departed from any form of values. So for me it's no surprise to se a project with debased people crumbling.
If CA had any ambitiouns and brains they would buy this project, hire the people and release as DLC or standalone game on attila engine, cant cost too much as well.
They should fund-raise the project. People are willingly pay CA for getting unfishined games and they expect modders who are every-day working people with their every-day jobs to sit down and spend time for nothing. They should a fair monthly goal so they can get motivated and continue with the mod. A contribution of 50 cents or 1 dollar per month is nothing compared of the amount of works and improvements have gone into the game.
it feels weird how long the map changes mods are taking for historical games, the tools have been out for a while now without a single polished mod implementing it. meanwhile warhammer total war has a number of mods that change the map rather drastically so really not sure what's taking the historical bunch.

Yeah I don't get why Medieval 2 is so overrated, people who only look at at parts Medieval 2 is better than modern (read: Warhammer) always ignore the quality of life changes they take for granted.
@@peterchung2262 Because these "quality of life improvements" don't really make it up for the gameplay deficiencies compared to Rome 1 and Medieval 2, at least for me. Granted I haven't played anything newer than Rome 2, but even today there's little in that game I can consider better than in it's predecessors, short of the internal politics and respawning factions and MAYBE the character system.
I lost my hope actually. the guys literally couldn't solve map tiling development for over 2 years. that's odd. I asked Dawnless Days team if the would help, they said NO. lol
Its not dead in the water. Just lost a lot of devs and things have slowed down. If you look at the discord they are posting update logs at least every month
This mod is up there with it's quantity and quality. ME1212 recently updated too on Jan 12th. It's becoming more immersive, and I'm also impressed with it's city architectures too for each culture. It's missing naval battles and the new map, which will give up a tiger - uppercut with immersion. I also wish it contained 4 seasons turns per year, having Spring and Fall back would be another win.
I hope, when the lord of the rings mod eventually comes out, that the caime modding tools are then released, as well. It would be insane to play rome 2 or attila with five thousand plus regions. And only the caime mod is able to do this, it is not possible to make the map larger in total war games with just the regular modding tools.

Couldnt agree more. This is the best mod ever made for a Total War for me, yet it is completely dead when they are so close to finishing it. The HRE is still broken and not historical, no navy, no late campaign, and yet so many good things about the mod. It's just sad really.

@ yeah definitely give the mods a shot. They add a vast array of units that should honestly just be added to 1212, and it’s not just for Western Europe you get new units in just about every faction in the game, granted only if they managed to exist in the late 15th to early 16th century.
We need ME3 thats all.. They are not a company. I have great respect for what they do, but we can't expect them to make another Medieval 3.
Also M2TW Remastered
At this rate we could see the Dawnless Days campaign map release before this map.
To be honest, it’s taken over half a decade, not throwing shade at 1212, but it went too long. 1100 ad is more flushed out and is in my opinion a better option
fleshed out maybe but 1100ad doesn't have anything on 1212 tbh, there's way more enjoyment and variety in 1212 than 1100 imo
1100 is not it for me. Also I feel its a mistake to do it on Rome 2 (aside from it not having constantinople) the whole game layout and UI just gives me those classical ancient greece vibes. Also I do very much enjoy having vassals, annexing them and recruiting units from their factions neither of which can u do in rome 2.
@@Frank36You can absolutely have vassals and recruit units from them in Rome 2. I do it all the time in DEI. However, I do agree with the general point that doing a medieval mod. in Rome 2 is not ideal.

@@jakekilley9037I tried really hard to like 1212, but playing mutlple factions starts i have to say that the only TWO seasons (Summer/Winter) are horrible gameplay wise, since you take attrition every other turn in many parts of the map or are forced into an encampment stance, which really hinders your progress and offensives.
Second is the unit balancing. Some Archers and especially crossbows have hillariously short range.
Worth trying out to see if that works.
yea this game runs like shit on my 5700x3d + 3070ti

This mod is truly awesome.
itself what for me. please 12 or 24 turn would be fantastic.
All you had to do was look at the mod change log terminator, thats all you had to do.......
I still wait for TESIV 10 years, i have patientce beyond compare.
Uh.. you mean TESVI?
Attila TED is a NOTORIOUS buggy software that CA haven't even bothered updating for a very long time. The battle maps aren't buggy, it's the software and the lack of good tutorials for a game made in 2015 on how to mod maps. I can say this as I've used this software and it is so sad...its a great software tool but it needs some updating or something.
I still play this mod to this day , it is the best mod for attila because i love this time period.

I personally love the mod's attention to the armors detail.

The mod is currently in good shape except for one issue: battle maps
Maps are so huge and because of that battle are so easy to win. I can win whole the battles using just 4 cav. Units. Ai’s passiveness also an element but the real problem is battle maps. You must make them like warhammer maps i mean more arena like. This way a player cannot destroy enemy army by destroying units piece by piece.

@@tahahadada1936 yes ive unistalled, verified, tried vanilla. Not sure what else to do
Not saying people aren't justified in these thoughts, but I find it a little odd people think the mod's lagging when it typically updates about once a year and the last update was around 6-9 months ago. Obviously some people leaving would slow down progress, but we haven't heard anything from the team about them asking for any new/ replacement positions. From the 1212 Discord AFAIK, everything's relatively fine rn.
Noticed the updates really slowed down. What a shame.
Every time I try to play the game it either crashes or doesn’t even load. I’m big sad yall.
