Agreed! His blow by blow call/narratives of the matches are quite amusing. "I'm not going to tell you again, quit pulling hair!" I think most of these matches are from 1950-1957.
These guys get the most out of everything they do. Schmidt is an impressive heel!
thats a good way to put it
I wish announcers would call current day matches in Pappy Davis' chiding fatherlike tone.
"Now Mr. Rollins, you know that hiding behind J&J Security isn't very brave"
That would be so hilarious! :D
Seen a couple of these old clips & he keeps cracking me up. ^^
Lou was a great wrestler of the 50s,and 60s I love his ability in the ring.
Love those old-school "scientific" heels like Schmidt, Bill Miller, et al. -- legit wrestlers, lots of good clever moves, even with all the "cheating" going on. Much better show that way, in my opinion.
At one time my mother was a waitress and waited on Mr. Schmidt, he was the total opposite of what he was in the ring, a pretty nice guy.
A guy I know was a next door neighbour-and friend-of Schmidt.Said the same thing.Old Hans was a really good guy-outside the ring of course.Pretty good wrestler too.
These guys were truly equal wrestlers and they really wrestled to not like today just a bunch of brawling and no wrestling and weird gymnastics
imagine if Lou Thesz climbed up on the turnbuckle to go for a 540 splash
schmidt isn't on lou thesz's level
A real wrestling match!
You are so right 👍.
Apparently, the person who posted this video didn't watch it. The match is a two out of three fall affair as were all NWA World Championship matches back in the day. Schmidt takes the first fall, Thesz the second, and the match is declared No Contest when they both refuse to return to the ring and continue to fight outside the squared circle.
why spoil the result for someone seeing it the first time
It was not a 1 fall match. It was a 2 out of 3 falls match.
They wresteled many times
もうこの辺りから、敢えて相手の攻めを受けるスタイルになっていますね。
This is classic. I wonder what year it was?
January 16, 1953,
Wow -- the day after I was born!
I love watching these two fight they make it seem real and when they punch each other it's dyno mite yeah
Schmidt was widely known for wrestling "stiff". Just listen to the broad arm licks to Lou's back. That's not fake...they really hurt!
@@martinmessina5631 was this fight real? or was this a work?
Yeah dude 😎. Great match What is up?
fuckin tough men
Davis is a damn blast here.
シュミットは上手いながらもとてつもなく強くは無かったです が とても魅力的な敵役でしたね誰を相手にしても水準以上の試合を見せてくれました🎵正に職人です♥️
What are those thing I noticed there's not a whole lot of pain crazy throws like come the belly-to-back suplex I don't see that being used was that even legal back then?
Yes, but suplexes were often bridged into a pin. Lou finished many matches with the backdrop suplex. Back then they'd use bodyslams to soften an opponent. Nowadays they use suplexes.
they weren't credible back then
Listening to this commentator of the 1950s, I'm sure he inspired Lance Russell.
I like to see this wrestling match at full Loaded
both men are long dead
Ed "Strangler" Lewis trained and managed Lou Thesz after he retired. Liu said Ed Lewis wS the best wrestler of all time
Lou was the the real deal
1st Fall 1:30
2nd Fall 11:40
3rd Fall 20:30
"one of the roughest white men in the business" lmao what?
when is that
