"Spotted in the wild" -- the shadow of Tom Burleigh. Thank you for stockpiling this video. It was a pleasure, in deepest and wettest winter, to wade through the ocean of nettles with you and the Johnsons. How kind you are to mention Lucy's Larking and Nicola White, along with The Johnsons for mudlarking adventures. I do subscribe to all of you and vicariously mudlark beside all of you each time. A pleasure as always to enjoy your wit and your lovely voice guiding us through the water and beaches.

@@tomburleigh9261 Babies bottles in the 1960s did not look like that though, so I suspect they have been made some years earlier or at least using old moulds. That design of babies bottles went out of use several decades earlier.

Another fabulous lark! I spotted teapot spouts at 11:03 & 19:07...one of my absolute favorite things, ah, but you must be full up with them. When you first started out you collected quite a few. The baby bottle is so precious, what a treasure!! I also saw Lucy's video when she found hers! The pipe is wonderful, as all pipes are. Please tell me why there are so many dentures in the rivers! I have seen both Simon and Nicola find so many of them! Love the Johnson's - "We're dry, Tom's wet!" - I had to laugh! Til next time, take care! ~Jen

Hi Tom I do enjoy your vlogs. I like watching the Johnson's too. I hope you survived the flooding in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd recently. My brother lives in nearby Luddenden Foot and said that it was really bad. Thanks Jan. The floods didn't hit me personally, but did hurt quite a few friends... including some who were made temporarily homeless when the water knocked down a supporting wall in their cellar. Slowly it's all being pieced back together, some shops will stay closed and some new ones will fill the gaps; and as ever the community spirit has been wonderful to behold. 🙂

A good way of cleaning glass , especially inside them is to get some denture cleaning tablets like Sterident or similar from the supermarket. Fill your bottle with warm water (below 50°c) pop in a tablet or two and leave for a few hours or overnight.
This trick is good for cleaning any awkward shaped glass container, one where you can’t reach the inside easily - like flower vases or coffee pots. I’ve also cleaned tea stains from old tea cups.
Anyway, the next day, give your bottle or ceramic objects a good rinse and once over on the inside with a bottle brush, stand back and admire your results.
Of course the real test is when the item (especially glass) dries.
Hopefully it will be clean-er at the very least.
I recommend dropping the tablets in to each bottle, but if you wanted to do a bunch of bottles at once, use a plastic or ceramic bucket/sink. Avoid using the dental tablets with metal as the product tends to act poorly with certain metals.
A very waffling tip but I hope this helps.
    🙂🐿❤️🌈

Thanks Sid. The floods hit a few of my friends hard; some were even made temporarily homeless when the water destroyed a load bearing wall in their cellar. But they're back in now, things are being put back together; and the community support has been excellent to see. I have been out mudlarking since the storms; this particular dump site got changed quite a bit by the floods; and this particular beach is bigger now, about another 200 square meters... the river must have moved away from it. The cliff face itself has lost some huge chunks; probably in excess of a 1000 cubic meters of material, and several rows of the trees that were supposed to stop that from happening are gone in the center portion.
I don't think it's made a long term difference to the mudlarking potential there, but I did have a good day there on Friday and found a lot. 🙂

For cleaning stubborn grime on the inside of glass wear, put in a teaspoon or so of rough salt. Add in a bit of rubbing alcohol and then give it a hard shake. The salt won’t dissolve in the alcohol and creates a gentle abrasive, While the rubbing alcohol disinfects.

Thanks Stephe G, I hadn't really thought of putting them through the dishwasher, but; I've got so many of the things now that I wouldn't miss a few if they broke in the attempt. The floods have caused problems; a friend's shop/house was in danger of collapse because the flood knocked out the cellar walls which were supporting it... and another friends art studio got drenched when a bit of the roof came off. Half the shops in town are still closed for cleaning or refurb, but overall it's not as bad as 2015, and the town will recover, but Spring will come before that.

So perhaps it was brought to the area as a seed in the clothes of someone who wanders the riverbanks like me, but who doesn't know how easy it is to spread knotweed. I'd need to explore a lot more before being confident of that, but it'd be good if it was only a tiny patch, I'd stand a much better chance of persuading the right people to deal with it.
