Q: How many people apply for admission? A: over 2,000 are ultimately evaluated for an appointment. Q: How many applicants are offered appointments? A: There are approximately 400 full appointments, depending on the targeted class size, offered each year. In recent years, each incoming class has been comprised of approximately 290 students. I think i read last year 2344 people applied, 370 were offered appointments, about 290 accepted. thats about a 15% acceptance
@USCGAAdmissions . I wasn't aware that the average score was a 29. Could an applicant apply with a 26 in the ACT ? I mean, getting in with a 26 might be pretty hard then, other things being equal ....
Hey what if you already have a degree? so you need to go to the academy if you want to be an officer? is the contract time the same for officer and reserve? what is the shortest term you can serve? I am not very fond of wasting all my youth in the military but because I wanted to carry the military tradition/patriotic duty.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy at a Civilian college. Think I get sign up as an Environmental Officer after meeting ASVAB requirements? Or would I need more schooling?
To be honest, my biggest interest in a career would be to become an astronaut with NASA. I read how two graduates from the USCGA became pilots, and am wondering if I manage to enter the school, what degree would be best to pursue? Thanks
Hey if some one is interested in the rescue swimmer program but wants to attend a CG Academy first how does that work? Do most Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers not attend college?
If you are looking to get into the Coast Guard Academy then I advise some of you to improve your writing skills. It is one of the most elite undergraduate colleges in America. Also, do your research before asking plain questions. Even enlisting is very selective these days, as the recruiters are only taking people with an AFQT score of 75+. If you are a hard-charger but don't get accepted into the academy, I recommend a Maritime Academy, as you can get a direct commission after graduating.
I was talking to to a college and career person at my high school and I asked about the Coast Guard Academy. She told me that I had to take the S.A.Ts or A.C.Ts. Is this true?
@warrenbfoster im there right now trying to do the same thing. go mechanical electrical engineering. do your flight school time and go to graduate school, then ull have a good shot at it.
Thanks for posting this video! Looks very demanding. If I may ask the poster/author of this video, what academic achievements and extra-curricular activities did you participate in to make you qualify as a cadet? ( I'm assuming your an alumni from here)? I know it sounds like a generalized question, but I'd just like to adapt to the competition and make sure this is the right choice for me. Then again, only if you willing to share your information.
Good video and great channel, gives you an over view of the USCG
@TheUltimateBoxer
Depends on your SAT scores and school activities.

Question: Is there an open rate list, for enlisted members in other military branches who want to lateral over to the Coast Guard?
@USCGAAdmissions Is there a certain score that I would have to get above?

What are my chances of getting into the Coast Guard Academy? What's the percentage rate of people who get in from the amount of people that applied?
I would think so...Are you saying you've never been in a pool or the ocean?
It isn't required but it certainly helps
@USCGAAdmissions Ok thank you
