    About James Ketchell
    James is a serial adventurer, motivational speaker and Scouting ambassador.
    On 1st February 2014, James became the first and only person to have rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, successfully summited Mount Everest and cycled 18,000 miles around the world.
    Seven years prior to all this, he was recovering from a serious motorcycle accident that left him with broken legs as well as a severely broken and dislocated ankle. The prognosis was that he was likely to suffer a permanent walking impairment and would certainly not be able to continue the active physical lifestyle he had enjoyed up to that point.

    Hi James. I've done 4 hrs so far. Hour 3 was 16-22 knots with gusts 28....was interesting! You've picked some of the best bits for sure. I'd like details of the Alpha helmet and the comms - does it have decent noise cancelling ? Cant imagine going around Wales with the flight school helmet let alone the world! See you in Cheltenham - we've booked tickets for your stand-up show :-)

    Fantastic! Some of my favorite segments. Thank you! One was missing: The Faroe Islands.

    Thank you James for this amazing footage. I would have loved to see more of the US from your journey. You would have enjoyed a stop in Beaufort or Charleston, SC but I know you just can't stop everywhere. The people helping you along the way were amazing. Loved the RV Canadian family you met from an earlier video! You've lived an amazing life and have accomplished so much. This journey was a great accomplishment and must have required tons of logistic planning to keep you safe from worldwide bureaucracy alone. Major kudos to your team for making the world seem a little bit more gracious by letting you pass unfettered. You and this Video are an inspiration to all in this world where we often forget how amazing this world really is.

    Very inspiring about your teen years, James. Incredible what you’ve accomplished. Loved the Humpback and Beluga whales! Oh and the shot of us chasing you over NYC!

    Hi James, have followed your flight with interest. Have been wondering how you managed to create a route that took in all 49 states (obviously not counting Hawaii :-) ) without getting all mixed up and missing some out as there seemed to be a lot of area to cover. Thanks

    James, I wanted to ask you, I know the weather did not cooperate in eastern NC, but how come no footage of Kitty Hawk ? I would have loved to trek up from New Bern to Manteo but the weather was not our friend that day.... Hope there is a return trip some day !!

    Thanks James-great footage. Question-can gyrocopters auto rotate (I believe that's the term), ie: with engine failure does it rotate downwards relatively safely?

    • @robertmurdoch1
      @robertmurdoch1 5 років тому +1

      Gyroplanes are already in autorotation. So yes, on engine failure they can glide (more steeply than a fixed wrong aircraft) to a safe landing, if the pilot achieves enough forward airspeed, and flares.

    James, a question, at what point did you decide that you needed to climb out of bed and do something and what was it that changed your mindset, was it the Motorcycle Accident or something else?

    But that first five minutes.... why do people think walking through an airport dragging a bag is engaging footage? :)
    Didn't know it was Mental Health Awareness day, thank you. Think we should all call somebody that might be struggling today and have a chat.
