Tried the shooter stance today for 3 hours at my local club, before my delivery was inconsistent and just downright not very good... But now thanks to you and your videos, my delivery is perfect i can draw accurate both ways, play controlled weight and drive. With confidence that the bowl will come out smooth. THANK YOU VERY MUCH :)

I'm a 74 year old who never played sports but joined the 600 member bocce league in my area this year. It's a wonderful social group and I'm enjoying the sport and the people tremendously. But I've been hungry for some good technical training and found you on UTube. These videos are wonderful and I think they will make me a better player. Thank you.

My friends and I played lawn bowls whilst we were in the army. Being that we were trained shooters when I think back to my technique it was a shooters stance as you explain it. No one showed me how to bowl, I watched how others did it then just did what I felt came naturally. I could hit the jack regularly and found it easy to adjust my accuracy.
With the shooters stance the transfer of weight is smooth and controlled, whereas if you are just stepping out as most do it is the same as with walking where you fall into your step with your body weight.

Hi Nev. I just started playing 8 weeks ago, I must thank you for your help. After watching your videos and applying your lessons I am getting into the head and doing well as a novice lead. My club started me in 6th division and I am now playing 4th division. Many thanks, looking forward to moving up in the ranks. John.

Thanks as a coach this will help explain why transfer of wieght and having the right wieght and possition on the mat equals consistancy if players work to get it right , looks smooth and contolled

Nev, as a new bowler and as a tall guy I absolutely see the logic behind the shooter stance. What I find however is that when I use it, it turns my upper body angle outwards, and throws my line off. Certainly want to use the stance but am reluctant to make drastic changes when I am finding some success with a more traditional stance. Awesome vids mate!

    Hi Nev,
Love your videos and someone who has a prominent shooter stance is a legend of the game Rex Johnstone.
    Peter.

    Hi Nev.
In my 2nd year of playing I have watched a fair bit of your stuff in that time .
Its been really helpful. As a 48 year old former rugby player I was surprised at how enjoyable lawn bowls is and it scratches the old competitive itch very nicely.
Over this weekend my 73 year young Mum and me made it through to post section play of the Taranaki Open mixed pairs. Losing 16 - 15 to one of the favourites.
Just watching your vid, I am using a stance almost identical to Ali Forsyth and it is starting to pay dividends.
Congrats on the national pairs win.
It was great to be able to watch yourself and the legend Peter Belliss play on the same day at Stratford Avon, my club.
    Hope your enjoying NZ mate.
As it appears you are based in Wellington, maybe you could do a vid on how to play when the ground is shaking?
    cheers
    Iain

I have been making bowlers weep beating them with the shooter stance. Thanks Nev. I was good before but now it is hammer time

Hi Nev. After recently watching the womens world fours and triples finals, I'd like to get your opinion on the stances of Nat Scott and Karla Krizanic. think Nat is a prime example of this theory while Karla seems to have gone to the extreme.
Ps. After watching this vid Ive taken to more of the Alex Marshall approach and personally it seems to be "better balanced" for me
Keep up the interesting vids :)

Hey Nev, thanks for the videos. I wonder how left and right eye dominance effects players. I found out through rifle shooting that I am 'cross dominant'. Left handed and right eye dominant. Thanks again.

HI Nev! I'm a really new player (I'm talking single digit coaching sessions) and whilst I'm getting to grips with line ok, I'm wondering whether you have any tips for getting more consistency into my weight of a delivery. I'm sure it's all to do with speed of swing and consistent hand release, but do you have any processes or routines that I should try? Thanks mate.

Ryan Bester's release is not under his head. It is very far away from his head! Also, his back foot is only ever so slightly pointing away from his target and not sideways (as per shooter stance). So how is this an example of shooter stance or good bowling technique? Confused?
