    I'm glad I chose your channel to learn.... I still haven't rolled a bowl but I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I give it a go in a few days... Cheers and love from Australia...

    Thanks Alec, another great video overview. Playing with weight is quite difficult I find as I rarely do it and there is every chance of narrowing the aiming line and then not putting enough weight on and committing to the shot, especially indoors on a fast rink. As you said, it takes a lot of practice. Take care and I hope you have a good season.

      Yes, it can be hard, and certainly not one of my favourite shots to play, but sometimes you just have to give it a go. You take care too, have a good outdoor season.

    Morning Alec, just to let you know using Grippo on my new bowls, as you recommend, worked really well. Thanks for the tip. Regards Stephen Rose

      Much appreciated. My great shots were a little set up, to show what happens when you do it right, I am not that good. ;)

    Another interesting and informative video, thank you. I have purchased a new set of bowls and of course they are very highly polished. My old bowls had a matt finish and the new bowls feel a bit ‘slippy’. Would you recommend using Grippo on the fingers when first using the new set ?. Kind Regards Stephen Rose

      @LawnBowlsforFun  Рік тому

      Yes, I think I would use grippo or something similar. I think I would put some on the bowls and then polish them up a bit, that will leave more grip, you can always use more on the fingers if need be, but once the bowls have had grippo added it may be enough. I have dry hands so tend to polish them up every two to three games. The other alternative is rub some glycerin and rosewater on your hands, that works really well and smells nice too! Let me know if either helps. 😀

      Thanks Alec, I have some Grippo and will give them a polish. Starting up again next week and will let you know how I get on. Regards Stephen

    Thanks Alex. Question: In a game, singles or pairs I keep bowling long by 7ft or more when I’m trying to draw in. Do you have a video on how I can correct myself from going too long and draw in? I’ve decreased my arm speed; shortening my step; sometimes change my line. I’m confused on trying to correct this.

      It is a common fault and sometimes it sorts itself out by itself, sometimes not. I once had a bad spell of bowling short, so in the end, out of frustration, I just imagined the jack was a further two metres away and it helped. :) II find that practicing with three jacks all at different lengths helps, especially after I change from indoors to outdoors as it takes a few weeks to get the consistency I want.

    Thanks Alec, it a great video and very informative.Will help a lot. I have drakes pride bowls professional model and want to purchase new bowls. Can you suggest which is better, Henselite dreamline XG or Aero Optima?

      To be honest I have not tried either, but pick what type of bias suits your game, and of course what feels right in the hand.

      Yes I have. Henselite are nice bowls. I used to own some but now use another make. No reason really, I just wanted a change.
