I'm so glad she decided to perform "Soul Kiss" a couple of times in 2010. That album is unfairly underrated. Same for The Rumour album. They both should have achieved major success. The Soul Kiss album managed anyway to be certified gold in US and Canada.
I think the production of the album didn’t do justice to some of the songs and to her magnetic vocal presence. Sometimes her singing ad libs on that album (and on Physical’s Stranger’s Touch as well) remind me of an angry little dog barking which is hilarious but not to the level of what she’s capable of doing vocally. Some of the tracks on the album are so bad (Overnight Observation, You Were Great, How Was I?) they overshadowed some of the greater tracks like Emotional Tangle, Queen Of The Publication, Soul Kiss and Driving Music). It’s an album that needs many listens though. A real grower. Olivia leaves a discography that’s a treasure trove of a legacy. Her soul and talent will keep on shining for a long time. She was not an underrated singer but maybe an underrated trailblazer.
@@alexd1121 The dog barking comment had me laughing so hard 🤣 Not every song on the album is a work of art, but I'm convinced that The Right moment is one of her best recordings she ever did. I also love Soul Kiss, Emotional tangle and Moth to a flame.
@@marcomrc1594 LOL! It’s the ad libs at the very end of Toughen Up that remind me of my Yorkshire terrier’s mild growling and also on Stranger’s Touch (“THRILL me so much”at the end when she gets suddenly agressive 🐩) Thank you for pointing out The Right Moment. Olivia’s ghost is totally haunting me since she passed and I hope she sticks around. I’m not only rediscovering some oldies but goodies but also totally discovering new material I wasn’t familiar with like this album Soul Kiss, also Totally Hot (obsessed with Deeper Than The Night) and also her early country stuff which I didn’t love as a kid but now I’m completely obsessed with Don’t Stop Believing , Jolene (the vocals are killer) and Please Mr Please! I have yet to enter the 90’s and later recordings. So exciting! She’s an angel.
@@alexd1121 Toughen up has a cute and funny video which displays Livvy' talent as comedienne. The song in itself is forgettable. The right moment gives me goosebumps..never fails to move me. Haunting, melancholic, solemn, gorgeous. From Totally Hot I love Please don't keep me waiting. Don't stop believin' is a classic, and Sam too. They perfectly showcase not just Livvy'voice but also her soul, kind and compassionate, and her unshakable positive attitude.
@@marcomrc1594 Thank you! So nice to hear from her real fans! I was and still am a hardcore Xanadu and Physical fan as very young kid and I kinda lost touch as I got older but Olivia’s ghost is coming for me strongly and I’m fully back and making up for lost time. Will check out Please don’t Keep Me Waiting thank you! Sam I knew but it’s not my fav, I Honestly Love You isn’t either. Don’t Stop Believing is just hauntingly gorgeous and insanely addictive. I’m nearly happy to discover it so late. I can’t put my finger on why it’s so good. Magical really, like Magic actually but even more impactful I think. I can totally hear how she influenced Mariah Carey. Those high crystal notes harmonized and doubled. Genius.
Probably not my favourite song of Olivia's, however the title Soul Kiss does describe what she means to me. A long time ago I was a teenage boy, Olivia a young woman. Ten years between us. As adults that isn't much, but at that age it is a chasm. I fell in love with her. She was and is, the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Absolute perfection. She very gently kissed my soul. I tentatively kissed hers back. I was lost to her forever from that instant. She never knew I existed. Perhaps she imagined me. I hope so. Maybe we will meet in another life. Love You Livvy. Forever. 💗
Ok that album is a totally underrated masterpiece. I discovered it after her passing and I am totally mesmerized by the whole album after many listens and finding it ridiculous at first. How on earth did they select that dreadful first single Toughen Up. It’s like they did it on purpose to prevent the album from being a hit. The album has truly brilliant moments. Queen Of The Publication is one of them.
I have this on Dvd. As much as I love Olivia, the Culture Shock song was never to my liking. Not her singing or the music, just the words. I don't think it was hers either. I never heard her do it in concert. Still a beautiful caring angel and incredible talent who graced us with her presence on this earth. Left us way too early. Will Liv On inside our hearts and minds!
Es incomparable Olivia con Madona. Olivia encantadora y llenando los mega conciertos con su súper voz, estilo, clase, sexy y toque de timidez ella solita sin efectos , con solo su presencia y concierton. Madona….. nada q ver
Olivia Newton John blows me away when she sings these hot, sexy video, then in real life she is nothing like videos. I have been following her since the 70's, and love her grace and gratitude. Thank you Livvy, I honestly love you. RIP Olivia, .
Hola Olivia Newton John soy Winston K. T. Por favor este tema de olivia y los de mas fueran tradusidos al español por favor le estare muy agradesido , saludos desde Santiago de Chile y los felicito 😁👍🇨🇱❤👏👏👏
It must be noted that Olivia was pregnant with her daughter Chloe in at least 3 of these videos. Culture Shock, Emotional Tangle and The Right Moment. This is why she's all covered up. Such a beautiful woman, inside and out. Rest in Peace Our Angel Olivia.
True story:Olivia was pregnant with her daughter Chloe when the video for the song “Soul Kiss” was filmed…”In the corner of the bar there stands a jukebox with the of country music old and new!!!”…Karl Schumaker 🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠
The styling of these videos kinda killed the greatness of the songs. Had she kept her long beautiful hairstyle from Deeper than the night and kept a simple fashion style to highlight her gorgeous face and let her angelic voice and music shine the album would’ve kept her on the impossible heights she had been riding for years.
"Physica"l was a masterwork !!! Sensual , organic and really different than anything before or afterwards. This one was just subpar and and plain ole trying too hard to please the "sleaze rush" that was brewing because of the "Queen of tacky, Madonna ! Sorry, just my truth.
I personally disagree. I think Olivia was open to trying new things in terms of what direction her music was going to take. Each album is different from the one before, reflecting her personal life and what was popular in the music industry at the time. This album is perfect for what was happening during the mid 80s. I also think that she wouldn't do anything that wasn't her true, authentic self ❤️
Olivia getting married and pregnant kinda took her off the market as far as being every man/boy fantasy at the time. Madonna was beginning to dominate everything. Olivia still came out on top in the end and will always be remembered as a class act. Madonna not so much. She blends in with the trashy performers today
@@juniors4118 Madonna just came in and destroyed all female singers for the top spot and stayed there. She's had a huge amount of number 1 hits. Olivia was done by the time Madonna came around. Once she had Chloe she was not interested in putting out big hit albums and did music that was more personal to her.
I love all her songs❤ great voice, great person and a great heart. R.I.P olivia
She was the greatest singer she had a lot of great songs❤
Im glad she did this film❤
She got braver with different songs she was awesome❤

She talked about it in a interview and said she liked the sound of that song. She had so many hits she had to just do her hits in concerts.
The critics blasted this album for being so much sleaze. Meanwhile, over in Madonna's world in the same year...
Her videos were cool ❤❤

The whole sexualisation of Olivia just didn’t work and she knew it more than anyone, this clip and song just isn’t her

love olivia but sorry, this album was a big mistake. No success down here in south america countries.
