  • Triumph Bonneville T100 Review is today's subject. As you know, the Bonneville is a smaller bike, so how does a 6FT 2IN, 350LB rider get on with it? Triumph simply does not disappoint and hopefully this review will do it justice! Today we are reviewing my 2005 Triumph Bonneville T100.

    Nice Bonnie. I have always loved these classic looking bikes from Triumph. I came pretty close to buying a 2014 thruston once but I would consider buying the new t120 black.

    You can get the service book and some feeler gauges and check the valves yourself. The fluids don't need to be drained out. The only fluid in the engine is oil, and it can stay in there while you take the rocker cover off. The gas can stay in the tank when you take the tank off. If all you're doing is checking the valves, and they are all within spec, takes about 1 hour. If you are going to re-shim the valves, then maybe the 3 hours.

    • @ChopperFett
      @ChopperFett  2 роки тому

      Thank you so much. I got myself the service manual and it doesn’t seem tooooooo bad. Probably a winter project.

    • @skymningforelsket1302
      @skymningforelsket1302 2 роки тому

      @@ChopperFett You're very welcome! It isn't too difficult, and the dealers definitely rip people off on this. Probably some vids you could watch, too. Any valve train with shims will be the same. Only diff with the Triumph, is that if you're going to change the shims, you need a tool (a pin, basically) to hold the camshaft from wheeling around out of place. This is the only difference, but it's very important to be aware of that. Odds are, tho, you'll just check the clearances and they'll be fine and you won't have to do anything else

    Great review Chop! Lol at the Adam Sandler reference. I've been taking a closer look at the Bonnies particularly because of how friendly they are in terms of price in the used market. They're kinda like sportster in that because it's a popular bike, there's generally a pretty wide selection of them available which is good for price. I still like the Triumph Bobber Black though....ugh. I need to win the lotto.

    "Standard controls" have ALWAYS been comfortable. That's why bikes came that way STOCK from the 60s through the 70s. The popular feet forward (breech baby)configuration came from the "chopper " image. Which became the modern "cruiser". You have less control of the bike feet forward.

  • @RidingHumboldtCounty
    @RidingHumboldtCounty 3 роки тому +2

    Loving that view. I prefer forward controls myself but I’ve never ridden a newer triumph. I guess I’m just stuck on Harley Davidson lol 😂. Great review. I know one thing is that without a windshield or a small fairing it definitely wouldn’t work out for me long distance. Nice looking bike buddy!

      I’ve added a small windscreen that goes on and off easily and it takes a lot of wind off. I’m more at home with forwards too but I’m glad I can ride this without my knees hating me.

      Thanks man but ya I really am. So with bike being so mechanical which I prefer, the speedometer has developed a whine noise over 40mph now that the temps dropped (very common). I lubed the cable thoroughly and it helped some but still there. Luckily moving at above 40 people aren’t over by me haha.

  • @BlackphoenixEntertainment
    @BlackphoenixEntertainment 3 роки тому +1

    I love my fuel injected spyder :) Good review. I think I'm more comfortable with mid controls. Probably cause it makes me sit up a bit straighter and my back feels better. Through some mods on there and bump that power up a bit.

    • @ChopperFett
      @ChopperFett  3 роки тому

      Probably gonna leave the power alone on this one. I don’t want to mess with tuning the carb etc. I’ll keep my power added to my fuel injected bikes with computer tuners haha.

    I think you will find that the Triumph would give a 1200 sporty a very hard time in a drag race and if not sneak past one by just as the Triumph Bonneville T100 is a mighty good bike and under rated in there specs I almost got one my self at one stage but it was sold out from under me ...dam....good video man thumbs up.

    • @ChopperFett
      @ChopperFett  3 роки тому

      Thanks Roland. I really want to try the speed twin as it’s essentially almost double the power on a similar stance. It does lose some of the class appeal of the Bonneville though.

    You should find the throttle response to be better then the FI versions due to the overly lean mixture current regs require. That being said the fuel economy from the more fuel rich mixture in the carb version will be significantly less.

    • @ChopperFett
      @ChopperFett  2 роки тому +1

      Can’t attest to the throttle as I haven’t rode the FI but I get a little shy of 50mpg so far anyway.
