Hello, baby noises are so awesome even at 3am. This is a fun skirt I wore these as a kid (not in the 40's). This style carried for a long time even to the 80's and 90's. The one thing I remember is, from the 70's, that clothes were made weird, if you needed to put a 2inch piece of elastic in some random place, do it. You could make a "fake" maternity garment since you're so close to your original size.
Thanks!!! I remember hating this style skirt. Even as recent as last year I didn’t care for it. now it’s all hearts for me. I’m pretty satisfied at this size except staying here would mean a good bit of my clothes would not fit anymore I want to buy some cinchers to see where that gets me.
A-line skirts were an essential part of my 1980s wardrobe because I'm an extreme pear shape. And I think this skirt would pass as contemporary even today. It's the blouse and hairstyle in your photos that give that 1940s feel.
Watching these two years into the future from date uploaded but worthwhile as it shows your growth overtime as a seamstress, presenter, and a historian.
I really like your videos, they are so nicely made and you def deserve more subscribers. Hope you and the kids are doing well during these crazy time! ❤
Thank you so much❤️🥰 I do hope to grow more over the next year, but I’m happy and really surprised at how much support I already have! Cheers to growth for the new year
2:22 yes, I need a easy one build some confidence in sewing. Thank you for telling me this is a more simple 👗 skirt. And I definitely like more 1940s in my closet.
Subscribed today! I’m so glad to see this still alive. I sew but I stopped being motivated in making things but can you make a video on how to read those patterns?
So good to see you! Lord give me a sweet sewing neighbor just like this for my Christmas presentAmen! I love it his. It’s such a simple but smart and quick skirt basic. I’m making a poodle skirt dress w/ petticoat for my 4 year old great niece. I love to sew for my great nieces and nephews. Take care and those baby coos were music to my old ears 🙏🏼💝
@@SewRena it seems like it comes and goes in stages. My daughter was like that. She absolutely loved for me to sew for her. But as she grew older and her sense of style changed, I learned I could no longer could sew what I use to sew for her. Gone were the days of ruffles, heirloom treasures , ribbons and pastels ☹️... my baby was growing up. But around 7th and 8th grade she started to get into sports and her favorite was snow boarding 😳 scared me to death to say the least! But she was excited and turned out to be very good at it. So when she needed a snow suite, I was so excited she asked I dove right in. It came out great and her friends loved it. I found some waterproof burgundy fabric and lined it with quilted fabric made a detachable hood too! The bottoms were made like a jumper with side zip and leg zips. She is now 34 and still talks about it to this day. Now she lives me to sew for her!!! Best wishes🙏🏼💝
This is great! I'm JUST learning how to sew and have only made an apron this far. I dress 40s so this is the perfect pattern and I'm happy to hear it's beginner friendly - but my darn measurements are just so curvy, I wish I could find a pattern that fit my shape to practice reading patterns and sewing with. The 26 waist size has a 35 hip and I'm sittin here at 38. Do you think it would be difficult for a beginner to grade it up? Should I get a 26 waist pattern size or one that would fit my hips and downsize the waist?
I loved this when I saw it on your Instagram! I found a couple of these patterns on eBay, but all 24-26 waist. Would this be an easy one to learn how to grade up on?
Yes it would be super simple to grade up I would buy the largest pattern you can find and grade it up. Grading and pattern adjustments comes with the territory when you sew vintage. Sometimes you have to grab whatever size you can find of the pattern if it’s rare and you have already fallen for it. Thank you for all the support! Also try searching A-line skirt patterns you will likely find one in your size even if it’s not this exact pattern. They are all made and drafted the same.
baby coos are a plus that just makes it sooooo much better.
Thank you! I’m so glad you guys appreciate his touch.

Loved this video. Kudos to your son assisting you in the voice over.
Thank you! He always has to sneak a word in or two 😂 I almost made it all the way through this time.
Couldn't have uploaded this at a more perfect time! I literally just stared at my fabrics for an hour today trying to figure out what to do 😂💜

Thank you!!! Omg how cute 😍 I hope my daughter will want me to sew for her at 4. Every year she seems to like it less.

Ok so since I just fell in love with the 1940s, I need to make this!
This is a wonderful project. You could get several done in a weekend.
i love this skirt and your tips are so helpful!
Love this skirt, such a lovely piece of work.
Looks great. Good choice of fabric for this bias skirt.
Your fingers are so elegant!
Wonderful skirt! I'm wondering one thing... How to cut the right shape from the material?
Beautiful job!
