I was the Stage manager that night, she was very kind to me and the staff. Afterwards she came upstairs after we cleared the room and sat on the stage chatting with the employees, not often artist do that. But she stands out as being very sincere and kind to the venue and its employees
She was a roady in her younger years..for her Uncle and he knew that she had her own thing going and encouraged her to take a leap of faith follow through and she did !!! Firdt time i saw her was on ACL and she was a breath of fresh air..influence abound , all around..! Her Uncle is Tuck Andrews.of Tuck and Patti...blessings to her..for that leap of faith.!!!!
That introduction "I'm so happy that some of you know that already", so cute. ♥
I've had this Annie crush for years. Any new St Vincent fans keep going. She kicks ass
This is in my top 200 Beatles songs. Brilliant performance St. Vincent.
200?
So this song made the Top 200 out of 213 songs? 😂
What a performance! She totally makes this song her own.
Never heard of her until Colbert just referenced her and specifically this song. I'm a huge Beatles fan and I went into this fully expecting to hate it because who could actually cover this song and do it well? Oh my f*cking god! Just absolutely stunning. The change in pacing the feedback the echo the completely new take on the song it's just mind blowing. The amount of music that's coming out of just one person in a guitar is just amazing. Not only did I love it I've played it at least three or four times and then checked out a number of other versions (this is the best in my opinion that I've seen) and also listened to a number of her albums. I was hoping to hear more of this kind of music but everything I heard I liked a lot. It's amazing how somebody could be releasing music for 13 or 14 years and I completely missed all of it. I listen to a lot of music and try to keep up on things that are new and interesting but she completely slipped by me. Very excited to really check out her stuff now and definitely want to see her life
Same here, hoping to catch her Colbert performance of this song, I assume she will do it as part of the show not an intermission thing.
Same.
As a guitar player I was VERY familiar with St Vincent, but never heard her cover of this. She kicks ass!
I also came here because of Colbert, although I already knew St. Vicent from the time she and David Byrne released an album together and at the time she already had her solo album 'Marry Me'.
Just came here and haven't heard it yet but hoping for the best. :)
Yeah, this was very nice. 👍
I was at this show and it was my first time seeing her. She totally blew me away! Such a talent!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was there a couple of years ago. I was offered some free tickets by a DJ so I accepted but can no longer remember the act. Had a great seat overlooking all the musicians. Great quality on this video, but it leaves much to be desired compared with the Beatles version.
Thanks for giving a new appreciation to this song!!!!!!
Stephen Colbert brought me here, and I'm very glad he did. This woman has CHOPS.
Lennon meets Hendrix meets Kurt Cobain meets Jack White meets Annie - Some folks just do nutty stuff on the guitar and somehow every note sounds perfect and planned. A really wonderful performance, glad she is getting recognition! Opening for Roxy Music here in DC next month, can't wait.
Were you born musically retarded or dropped on your head as a child. The same for miss Clark.
She's never said it... so that means she channels Robert Fripp... without knowing it!
She is undergoing every introvert's nightmare. And doing just fine.
Underrated comment
Yeeeeeeeesssssss. I'm cringing for her. But she's owning it.
Or she just smoked a joint
That chick ain't no introvert .. give me a break with that. Pretending maybe. Women are great actresses and there's a reason ones like this end up being such big performers.
Wow, i have heard her on the radio, but this playing and singing just blows me away so much more than the recordings i have heard on the radio!
i wish her shows now would be as spontaneous as they were here... so much fun
Jesus Christ I'm so in love with this woman
It's not like my "guitar player universe" is comprehensive, but as a player and enthusiast myself, Annie strikes me as being about the most interesting new guitar talent since Jack White.
she doesn't show it enough though!
GAS Man right on cue...as soon as a woman picks up a guitar everyone is a fucking guitar expert.
glorfindel halfelven dynamite drop in. You totally furthered a conversation.
Very JackWhite, lots of reverb.
YES!
This is now classic history-magnificent early career video.
Wow! I dig it and I had no expectation to. Golllee. This inspires me to record.
Fantastic!
3:36 start of music
lol hehe
TY
GRACIAS
John would have loved this...!!
one of the greatest covers ever
She added something special to that song... The Beatles should be proud
I'm here because Colbert mentioned this last night... thanks, Stephen!
I think Annie was as high as a kite in this performance...In my opinion one of her best performances ever..
she doesn’t do drugs so no
@@big_ol_ball838 except for when she does mushrooms or weed openly 😂
Saw here at the Stephen Colbert show in July. She was amazing. Great version of Dig A Pony. She played what looked like a combo of a bass and guitar. Good jam with Stay Human on the show.
I am speechless. She radiates.
She did not even try making it a beatles song. She performed it in her own way! Great interpretation of a classic.👍🌟
Dude, that was a masterpiece! She's so amazing! Thank You!
Yep, one of Lennon-McCartney’s
사랑스러움이 뿜어져 나온다.. 진짜 최고..
Damn she's so good
Brilliant interpretation. Great guitar playing
Hell yeah!! Go Annie! I sing this song a bit like this to my cats on the reg
My god. No words. Love it so much.
Just amazing! I love this song and Annie made it sublime!
Wow! Came here with no expectations, really really cool :)
Great performance by Annie of an awesome song. I really dig the dynamics.. there were quiet and there were intense moments. Love it!
the opener for David Byrne in Houston.. and bang.. st Vincent.. this shit is banging
I love this woman, her talent, music, and presence is something to behold. 🖤
This is a cover
@@gloriousforever3451 By which you mean a cover of the Beatles original track? Yes I know, but it is a clever cover.
@@Alchemetica And then some. The Beatles did a service forty years earlier by teeing it up for Annie to make it spectacular.
@@gradaloo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love You st Vincent
WOW. Best cover of this song I have EVER heard.
She continually amazes me!!!
Soooo cool ! John would have loved this unusual interpretation of one of his more unusual creations. My favorite is “You Know My Name”. I know many won’t get it, or you - this is great !
I always figured You Know My Name was the lads having a goof haha.
Shivers. My God.
I don't exactly know what happened here but... WOW. Annie absolutely takes this song to a new level. Phantastik.
She can flat out blast and she picked such a great song aces momma
Passionate....so,freaking passionate.
Talent and integrity. Joyous to watch.
She so humble and personable with her fans. Then she plays a classic
I always thought "Dig A Pony" was the Crown Jewel in the Let It Be Movie. Ive never heard this bands music but she plays and sings with such herky jerky essentric passion that I totally enjoyed this. I even got a kick out of the scab story but if she lives in Brooklyn Im more than certain that she has seen her share of urban oddities. I guess she was so blown away by the beauty of the bay area that she forgot its still a large city with weird shit too.
true that, but i live in SF and the great american music hall is like 1 block away from the tenderloin which i have done outreach in and ive seen people shooting up drugs in every part of the body possible and there is human shit everywhere, its a rough neighborhood.to see that part of SF is a bit jarring..its 4 square blocks of drugs and madness.
My dad had the same opinion when he saw the film. He compared the song to swaying on top of tree. I guess that's one way to put it!
Big Pearl a Great Artist & An Angel --Bravo et Merci Annie . ( Armand -Paris)
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dj
Finally I can retire my old records for something genuinely as cutting edge as the Beatles where in This generation.
2018- sooooo effffing good!
Amazing!
I'm so lucky I found her wow
Maravilhosa!!
Now I know she is expands her own style music from one single Beatles song. How amazing the Fab Four.
solo puedo decir que amo a esa mujer y mi esposa lo sabe!!
100% compelling performance. Way beyond what I expected.
imma jump ahead one baby girl.. You feel me?
Interesting take on one of Lennon best songs
It's certainly is. Not a favorite of mine from Lennon's catalog. I think I like her playing before she turned the fuzz pedals on.
I love you
God damn all these people complaining about the opening dialogue are a bunch of buzz kills. While this isn't her best performance of the song I think that it shows a very good starting point with unique ideas to add to the song rather than just play a boring note-by-note cover of the original dig a pony. She's not a tribute band. If you don't like this cover check out some of her covers from later shows they are really good.
Song starts at 3:36 after her cute comments. John Lennon considered his to be one of his throwaway songs, but I like what she does with it. in my "Beatles covers and uncovers" playlist. Thanks for the upload!
What Lennon considered throwaways are songs I wish I could write half as good.
I think you need to share this Playlist with us... 🥺

An interesting interpretation for sure
Fantasticosa!!!!
I dig a , Annie ... That is an amazing cover ...
I can hear you talk all day, Annie. Luff ya!
She's so cool and unusual!
Not the worst thing I’ve seen in San Fran the 8 years I lived there. By a long shot. Just got done with PTSD therapy.
beatles for ever .
💕🎵🙏 WELL DONE, SAINT ANNIE 🎵🙏🎶🐒🐑
I la amo and i love her
Wow!
Well done
Can't believe the naysayers in these comments. You guys must have skipped through before the song started. This was sweeeeeeeeelllll
Супер!
I like it
Le da su toque pesonal, pero es un gran homenaje para una gran cancion.
That was the best thing I've heard in weeks
Holy shit.
Now I see when Stephen Colbert is in love with this girl.
She's amazing.
Luv it. Like Hendrix and Lennon had a niece
I'd say more musically experimental in technique. More Harrison than Lennon.
Goddamn it she is beautiful
Have you ever heard of David Byrne of Talking Heads? Hello, she's been brilliant for awhile.
El mejor Dig a pony! Lennon sonríe y aplaude!
Annie Lennon
I dig the use of two different mics.
holy fucking wow
This woman is so fricken amazing.
2019 ‘beeeeecaaause I, I, I .....I dig a pony’
wow.
Holy Shit..That is so fukin cool.So Fukin Cool
2:04 ㅠㅠㅠ❤️❤️❤️❤️she is adorableㅠㅠㅠ
Outstanding reinvention of the song. Made it her own. Sparse, sexy, and daring. I can understand how people who don't like performance art, avant garde, or fringe festival performances might not like it. It takes a bit of a taste for the unusual. Who wants to hear a cover that's like the original? Boring...
There is an even better version she does where her guitar sounds like Hendrix... That is f@cking insane! She's very sweet and innocent in this one... which I also like, but her confidence definitely grows... She's come a long way in terms of style since then...
Good. Very hard to do Beatle tunes because they were the Beatles.
Boom...
13 short years ago, all she has done since is get better.
I see things in Frisco hadn't changed much between 1977 and 2009. I can relate to what she was saying. I was out there for a month in 77 and it was like you'd walk a mile and everything's cool and then suddenly 30 yards ahead of you this madman appears and he's fixated on you and he's heading your way arms flailing aimlessly and you've got a choice which is step off the sidewalk and get out of his way or get into a wild throwdown with a nut. And your transported from that great feeling you were having into fuck, this sucks.
I am soooo enchanted by this kewpie doll vixen …
